"I'll have you know, this journey won't be easy."
The Tyrogue tilted his head to the side as he looked to his new trainer, a curious expression on his face. Port Town seemed empty aside from the occasional pedestrian - everyone with a Pokemon was probably in New Pallet, trying to chase out the swarm that had attacked its citizens. James actually enjoyed the quiet; even though they would be in the same situation within the next twenty four hours, give or take a few hours.
"Tyrogue?" asked the fighting type Pokemon after a brief silence. James' lips pressed together in a thin line, before turning his gaze to look at his Pokemon instead of in front of them.
"I had picked you, considering your species enjoys fighting at what appears to be all hours of the day," the red head went on. "I am a researcher, like the Professor who you had probably spent most of your short life with until now. I will more than likely spend most of my time in the wilds of Mi-aro, and thus needed someone who would be able to easily protect me while I venture."
"Rogue? Tyrogue!" The little Pokemon nodded, as if understanding what the man was indicating.
"It is nice to see that we are on the same page," James said, shifting his gaze to the path ahead of them. "Now, I suppose I should give you a name of some sort?"
"Tyrogue?"
"I had figured that a name would be much nicer than just calling you by your species name," explained James, "especially if we run into another of your kind. It would make things less confusing, you see."
The Tyrogue seemed to think for a moment, before nodding in agreement. Well, at least James made a rather rash decision in choosing a Pokemon that was easy to get along with.
"I have been mulling some names around in my head as we have walked," said the man. Turning his head to the side, towards Tyrogue, he asked, "How does Orion sound? It is the name of one of the constellations in the Old World that I have read about - though I have yet to see it here in Mi-aro."
Tyrogue fell silent then, looking at the ground as they walked along. James turned his attention ahead of them again, considering stopping by home one last time before he went out and ventured the great unknown. After a moment of thought, the man promptly thought better of it, He figured he could always return later, after coming home from Pallet Town.
"Tyrogue!"
James turned his head back to the small fighting type walking beside him, who now looked at him with an expectant gaze. The red head could not help in raising an eye brow at him.
"I take it you have decided on the name I have proposed?"
The Tyrogue nodded. Well, at least the small Pokemon understood the basics of communication. This would make things easier in the long run.
"And?"
Again, the Tyrogue nodded.
"Well, then I assume that our next order of buisness," started James, turning left when they came upon split path; Tyrogue jogging to keep up when he did not expect his human to take a different course, "is head to the Gogoat transportation services and take one of the Pokemon there to New Pallet and see what we can do to help its residents with the Spinarak crisis. Does that sound appealing to you?"
