Professions

As the population has finally accepted its place on Mi-aro, it has been decided that there are certain things that simply have to be done. These things are protection, exploration, research, and production. From these four needs, four professions have popped up, each started by the founders of Mi-arean human society themselves.

Mercenaries

-the protectors-

The dedicated purpose of Mercenaries is to protect the settlements and civilians from Feral attacks. Already established settlements like Port City and New Pallet have less of a problem with this due to location and size, but still face the threat of Alphas and their hordes. New settlements and travel routes are where Mercenaries can make their cash. Of course, this profession isn't bound to protecting others, they can just as easily do some exploring or researching here and there, or even set up shop and sell Pokemon they've tamed!

    Perks
  • ✔ Start with 2 Pokemon
  • ✔ Gifted an X-Gear with Holo Chip and either Ability Chip or Dex Chip
  • ✔ Gifted 5 PokéBalls with 3 other Trainer Items (under 35₪)
  • ✔ Pokemon can have 6 Special Moves
  • ✔ Pokemon gain an extra 10% EXP

Survivors

-the explorers-

With the human population of Mi-aro growing everyday, the need for more space is becoming quite necessary. Unfortunately, the areas outside of the established settlements is dangerous, unknown, a Mysterious Beyond (brownie points if you get the reference). A certain group of trainers has made it their goal to explore these areas and/or expand the human territory. The Survivors are a tough group of people, and they have to be, since they spend most of their time in the untamed Mi-arean wilderness. Of course, the Survivors are needed for more than just that. They are particularly helpful to the established colonies during a natural disaster since they and their Pokemon are trained to fight the power of mother nature.

    Perks
  • ✔ Start with 1 Pokemon
  • ✔ Gifted an X-Gear with Holo Chip
  • ✔ Gifted 3 PokéBalls with 7 Survival Items/Tools (under 35₪)
  • ✔ Gifted 1 Melee Weapon of choice
  • ✔ Gifted a Tool Bag
  • ✔ Pokemon moves are more effective at clearing obstacles

Researchers

-the discoverers-

The world is so new to humans, and there are so many new things that we don't understand! If the human race is to stand even the slightest chance of survival, we need to learn everything we can about Mi-aro. Researchers have dedicated themselves to doing jsut that. The role of Researchers is to observe, experiment, record, and recreate. Data Logs are used by this profession to record and distribute thier research for money. Normally Researchers enroll in one area of expertise, although that is not always the case. These areas range from Pokemon, to Portal Energy, to food, to really anything they can think of.

    Perks
  • ✔ Start with 1 Pokemon that knows an Egg Move
  • ✔ Gifted an X-Gear with Holo Chip and either Dex Chip or Photo Chip

  • ✔ Get a 50% discount when renting NPC Mercenaries

Merchants

-the makers-

I'm sure when you hear the term 'Merchant' in a Pokemon context, you're thinking about this guy. True, a Merchant's job is to sell goods, but that's only half of their role. Many Merchants also produce their goods which makes them infinitely more important. This means that Merchants can sell valuable goods that aren't mass produced such as pokeblocks/poffins, advanced weapons, and improved versions of regular items. There are actually THREE TYPES of merchant- 'sub-classes' if you will. The type only really matters for establishing starting perks and can be changed later through RP.

  • ✔ Get 25% off building/material items from the site shop; these items cannot be resold or gifted

Mentors

Mentors

Before you begin you journey as a Trainer in the amazing but cruel world of Mi-aro, you will first need to choose a mentor. These are the leaders of the colonists that will guide you in your adventures. Your mentors play 3 main roles. 1) Gift you you're first Pokemon and starting items, 2) Find quests that suit both your needs and those of the colony, and 3) To make sure that you are safe and have everything you need to succeed. The three mentors are also the three individuals who founded Port City and who are in control of the entire colony's politics, economy, and research.

Professor Quercus Oak

Everyone knows of Professor Oak and his grandson Gary "Blue" Oak, the renowned Pokemon Professors of the Kanto region. Quercus is their descendent with Blue being his great-grandfather. Like his ancestors, Quercus shares an affinity for discovery. The Good Professor has created a number of inventions that are currently in use by the trainer and civilian poulations of Mi-aro such as the X-Gear and many of the programs it can download. The Good Professor, as many of his collegues call him, is in his late 40's, has long graying hair that's normally pulled back in a ponytail, and can always be seen wearing a lab coat. Quercus is known for his quirky and rather absent-minded personality, he's an excellent mentor as long as you don't mind him never getting your name right.

When on missions or just out in the wild, Oak is the type to constantly check on his mentees, not necessarily out of worry, but more likely because he found information or invented a new device that he can't wait to share. One of Quercus's weak points is his judgement, where he often sends his mentees out on missions that are much too difficult for their skill level and he rarely supplies materials that seem like they'll be of any use. Oak's missions typically revolve around the scientific pursuit and the big question "WHY"

The Ambassador

The Conquerer. The Militant. The Diplomat. The Warrior. The Champion. The Ambassador.
Anita Nguyen has racked the shelves with titles that show the timeline of her accomplishments. She is known for her strong military tactics and diplomatic prowess, but many forget that she is also the reigning World Champion of the International PokeEarth League, not that that title does much good on Mi-aro. Ms. Nguyen was the first Mercenary, as well as the first Survivor. She helped found the two existing settlements and now resides as the leader of the pioneers, and no one's complaning. The Ambassador is a larger woman in her early 50's, she typically wears some form of bold-colored suit with strong heels. She is driven, aloof, and devoted to the cause of colonizing the planet in the most peaceful way possible.

Although she doesn't constantly check on her mentees as Oak does, Ms. Nguyen will do everything in her power to help them succeed. It is important for the mentees to understand how much work The Ambassador does, however. She's not always available, so the best way to get into contact is to make an appointment or shoot her a text and let her get back to you when she's free again. Anita's missions will concern the expansion and exploration of the new world, so if you choose her be prepared to travel!

The Rocket Man

Prepare for trouble and make it double. The hydra-like organization of Team Rocket has died and rose again many times in the past century, most people began to understand it as fact that the Rocket criminals would wreak havoc forever. Until one young man infiltrated the organization and turned it on its head. Few know the details of the takeover, and of those few none are willing to recount the story. All the people know is that this man took an evil organization and turned it into the brightest economic center the world had seen. This man is known as The Rocket Man, or Mr. R for short. He is in his late 50's, but still retains his luscious, golden hair. He stands tall with a strong poise and usually wears a neutral-colored business suit. Mr. R is a humble and quiet, but extremely compassionate individual that anyone would love to have on their team.

Being the quiet sort, The Rocket Man is much more likely to overload his mentees' X-gears with texts rather than to call them. That being said, even if he's just shooting a text this Mentor will constantly be monitering his mentees' progress and, more importantly, making sure that they're safe. Mr. R's missions are more domestic than foreign as his focus lies on the settlements that have already been established. Trainers that want to aid in the improvement of Port City and New Pallet will do well with the Rocket as their Mentor.

Skills

Skills

One of the unique things about PokeXation, is that we have a character skill system This system gives each character more depth and an effective way to stand out.

There are 8 skills in total for you to choose from, here's how it works: Every skill has a level cap of 20, just like Pokemon. You can level these skills up by aquiring SKILL POINTS or SP. The way you aquire SP is different for each skill, however, the amount you need is consistant through all of them.

Levels 1-5(NOVICE) require 5SP each
Levels 6-10(ACE) require 10SP each
Levels 11-15(ELITE) require 15SP each
Levels 16-20(MASTER) require 20SP each

Characters are allowed to pick anywhere from 1 to 4 skills to focus on at a time, these are called your ACTIVE SKILLS. These are the only skills that will gain SP while roleplaying, but just like in real life, when you stop practicing, you lose some of your skill. When 3 skills are active, one random (Non-Master) inactive skill will lose 1SP for every 10SP you gain. When 4 skills are active, one random (Non-Master) inactive skill will lose 1SP for every 5SP you gain. So skills can have negative points (negative levels are not a thing however) which means if you ever want to use use that skill, you'll first need to bring it back into the positives.

Your Active Skills must be somewhere in every IC post, preferably in the signature, but elswhere is fine too. When you create your character and post the Skills template, you can choose your first set of Active Skills. From there, they can be changed by going to Quercus's Lab where his Reuniclus will use a "Refined" Skill Swap on your character. The alternative is to have your own Pokemon with Skill Swap, but the restriction on using your own is that they can only be swapped in one-shot posts and they cannot be swapped again until 3 (FULL) threads are completed.
