~Strange sounds have been heard outside of New Pallet, The Ambassador urges trainers to be ready in case of an attack~
Summer is kicking in Port City! The temperature averages about 78°F (25°C) with a bit more rain than usual. Thunderstorms pop up every once in awhile, but overall, the sun is shining, the water's warm, and it looks like it'll be a great summer for the colonies.
Micah frowned to himself as he looked around New Pallet from the main entrance from Route 1. Everything was in absolute pandemonium. Perhaps he shouldn't have spent so much time detouring from the path, but... There's really just no fun in just straight following a path. He'd gotten the call from Oak while he was just a few hours away from New Pallet, exploring the beginnings of the dense forest. Of course, once he was told what was going on, he hurried his butt up. A swarm of Spinarak was a lot more exciting than wandering in a forest. Though, now that he thought about it, that was probably exactly what he'd be doing, here.
From what Quercus told him, the full swarm hadn't made it any town, yet. Everyone was still preparing for the worst of it, and trainers were being asked to go into the forest and cull the threat. Ohh, this was gonna be fun. Er... Maybe not as fun for the town, but... It was going to be a fun day for him, personally, and that was enough. Nodding his head in self-confirmation, Micah started his way through the town, dodging crowds of panicked citizens just trying to prepare for the worst. Micah really hoped there wouldn't be a worst... This was his first time in New Pallet, and he couldn't help but feel disappointed that he had to see it like this. He'd had so many daydreams of coming here and seeing this wonderful bustling town, full of spunk and adventure. Instead, he got this pitiful frightened town, running from spiders in the woods. His first impression of New Pallet was ruined. He'd never be able to properly see it at its best...
Sighing softly, Micah glanced down at his X-Gear, then looking to the message he'd been left with instructions. He was probably supposed to meet with someone and actually plan something out... Of course, there was absolutely no fun in that. Couldn't he just head straight for the woods? This was a time sensitive thing, wasn't it? It'd be better if he skipped all of that planning nonsense, right? Yeaaa, that sounded good. Straight to the woods it was! Micah grinned has he continued making his way through the town, soon reaching another edge of it, facing the forest in question. He'd gone through a good few back-alley passageways and stayed out of sight just to make sure no one would be able to drag him off to the meeting. He was currently standing on a fence, looking out towards the vast wilderness. Oh yeah, he couldn't wait.
Micah was snapped out of his thoughts and daydreams as he realized something. That little sound he'd been hearing since turning into this alley. It wasn't coming all the way from the forest... Was there one near by? Perhaps he wasn't the only one that thought to take the back alleys. Suddenly on the alert, Micah reinforced his balance on the fence as he looked around, trying his damnedest to locate the source of the tell-tale clicking.

Insect type Pokemon were hardy little buggers and had the easy ability to blend in and survive in all different types of environments. Micah almost instantly found himself at a disadvantage by heading down that alley like that. At least in the forest, there was a bit more room to move around and run away if the tide of battle was unfavorable.
Here in the small space between two of the buildings of New Pallet, Micah would see strands of thick, sticky silk all across the house's backyard and the large containers and refuse that was sitting on the sides. The clicking sounds would continue to get louder, until the small group of spider soldiers was practically on top of Micah, ready to string him up by his toes.
Event!
Welcome to the Spinarak Swarm event! As you know, you are about to be attacked by a small group of special Spinarak. If Micah were to use his Holo Dex app [if applicable] he would find that these spiders were bigger, a different color, and have strange, different markings on their abdomens than the one portrayed on the dex. How you complete this event is totally up to you. You have been spawned four Spinarak, they look like the following:
All Spinarak: Level 1 with the moves Confusion, Scary Face, String Shot All Spinarak are Bug/Psychic dual typed
You are free to defeat/handle these Pokemon anyway you see fit. When you have concluded your event thread, please submit the mod request so that it can be evaluated and proper rewards given. Good luck to you, brave trainer!
Hearing the clicking steadily grow louder, Micah soon realized two things. One, there were definitely more than one of them. Two, he'd put himself in a rather sticky situation, as they were closing in on him from all sides. He was cornered. Sort of. Glancing down at the fence he was standing on, Micah knew that if he needed to get away, he could just hop down to the other side and into the field that acted as entrance to the forest. If he wanted to, but... Why world anyone want to do that? He was planning to sneak off into the forest to find some Spinarak, but they had come to him! If anything, this was a lucky break. Risky sure, but lucky none the less. With one hand on the two Pokeballs at his belt and the other on the hilt of his sword, he was ready for this. As soon as he could see them, at least...
It was obvious that Micah probably wasn't great at hide and seek, as he desperately searched the alley and roof tops for the source. By the time he finally set eyes on their weird colors and patterns, they were right in front of him, four of them in the shadows and on the walls, getting ready to attack! "Gah!" With no time to summon his Pokemon just yet, Micah managed to dodge the webbing shot at him as he ducked along the fence and hopped onto the roof of the closest building from their. Okay, that gave him a little more space to move about. He could only hope the house was empty, else the occupants would probably be terrified, what with his giant self lumbering about on their roof. Sighing softly as his very close-call, Micah quickly grabbed the two Pokeballs, releasing the Blitzle and Fletchling.
As usually, Grayson immediately took to the air to get a vantage point, and soon had his eyes fixed on the four Spinarak. They looked weird, though, and not very tasty. Zephyr seemed far more confused with his new surroundings, panicking a moment before he was able to set his hooves against the roofing. What sort of battleground was this? A terrible one, no doubt! The Blitzle gave an annoyed snort, stepping to the edge of the roof to see what Grayson was tweeting about. Bug. Of course it was bugs... Why was their trainer hiding on a roof from bugs?
"I see that judgmental look, Zephyr, and frankly, It's a little rude." Micah teased. "You don't think I'm hiding up here, do you? I just got myself a little cornered and needed a better space, is all!" He defended, shaking his head. Grayson began tweeting again as the Spinarak were back in action, making their way onto the roof. As the cat-faced one tried to climb up right where Zephyr was standing, it was immediately treated with a swift hoof to the face and sent back down into the alley below. The others made it up, no problem, and even with just three, Micah was still surrounded. As the Blitzle looked back to his trainer and returned to his side, Micah gave him a grin and a thumbs up.
The Spinarak seemed rather upset at the treatment of their comrade and were clicking angrily as they seemed to prepare for another String Shot. "--Grayson, Tackle!" Micah called, pointing to the Tongue Spinarak, and then gesturing to the Nosey Spinarak for Zephyr. "Zephyr, Quick Attack!" He called. He needed an opening and a chance to get these guys one-on-one. Grabbing his longsword, sheath and all, Micah watched as his Pokemon carried out his orders. Grayson immediately dove towards the Tongue Spinarak, his beak aimed for the open expanse of the bug's back. The Spinarak seemed to realize he was coming, and after a startled reaction began to skitter about to throw off the Fletchling's aim.
As a result, Grayson became Confused, nearly slamming into the roof tile but somehow managing to slow down just enough that it wasn't terribly damaging. Getting to his feet, Grayson seemed to have trouble shaking off the confusion, waving about in place as he tried to focus. Tsk'ing, Micah quickly swooped Grayson up and out of danger. While this was taking place, Zephyr had dutifully launched his own attack towards the Nosey Spinarak. Running towards it at the most speed he could pick up in such limited battle space, the Blitzle lowered his head for impact, successfully bashing the seemingly stunned Spinarak. With a loud smack, the Spinarak was sent flying a good ways, landing atop the roof of another house just across the way. Zephyr almost slid right off the roof, himself, but managed to force himself to a stop right at the edge and quickly backed away.
Well, that left just two to deal with for the moment. Blinking as he suddenly heard the 'thwip' sound of String Shot, Micah quickly turned in place to face the ignored Smiley Spinarak, just barely managing to block the path of the webbing with the sheath of his sword. But then the sound repeated from the direction of Tongue. Luckily, this once was knocked off path by Zephyr with another nicely timed Quick Attack. It was much weaker than the first, but still manage to knock the Spinarak onto its back. Micah grinned as Grayson seemed to shake off his Confusion and flew up and out of Micah's hand. After a short pause, he seemed to decide to finish his earlier attack, launching another tackle towards Tongue. As the Spinarak was already stunned by the Blitzle's attack, the Fletchling was able to aim properly, landing a brutal tackle right on the Spinarak's exposed belly. After a loud, pained cry from the bug, it went limp. It seemed this one was finally out for the count.
As Grayson shook off the impact and returned to his shoulder, Micah still stared down Smiley, daring it to make another attempt at String Shot. Unfortunately, it seemed the other two Spinarak from earlier were now getting themselves back together. Cat Face was making already making its way up the wall, while Nosey stared at them from the other roof. Micah suddenly found himself flinching and stumbling back as Nosey suddenly gave a Scary Face. He wasn't sure why, but something about it had thrown him off entirely, even making him feel sluggish and reluctant to attack.

Seeing their trainer suddenly struggling, both Grayson and Zephyr nudged at him with little success until the Fletchling suddenly snapped his beak down onto the skin of hi earlobe. "--Ow!" Micah cried out, effectively snapped out of the Spinarak's trance. Wincing and giving Grayson a look, the Fletchling only gave a chipper tweet, taking off into the sky to prepare for another attack. Patting Zephyr's back, Micah got to his feet to observe the situation. "Don't look directly at their backs." He instructed, idly brushing himself off. There was one down, but three more to go. Most of them had already taken a hit or two, but it was going to take more than that. At this point, it almost seemed as if the Spinarak were playing a game, with the way they waited for his move. Or maybe they were being cautious. Or maybe they were plotting.
It was with that last thought that Micah realized something eerie. The three Spinarak were currently moving in perfect unison to each other as they swayed their heads, as if they were somehow communicating. He'd heard of Psychic Pokemon that could do such a thing, but these were... Unless... Oh man, what a headache. Micah frowned, suddenly feeling just a bit more outnumbered than he did before. He'd noticed that these Spinarak were huge compared to the usual members of their species, and they did seem an unusual color, and then there were the different faces, but... A different type, too? This just wasn't fair, these things had way too much mystery going for them. Blinking, Micah decided something. He had to catch one. At least one. A Spinarak mutated to such a degree would be an awesome addition to the team.
Of course, he had to defeat them first... He'd already gotten one knocked out, but now was no time to be trying to catch it. He would also rather the bug be conscious when he tries. That meant he had to get two more of them down... He could do that. Yeah, why not? He just had to be careful. he couldn't let them get him off guard again. He had to keep them in sight and go after one at a time. He could do this. "Grayson, get that one back down!" Micah called to the Fletchling, gesturing to the Cat Faced Spinarak that had just made it back up onto the roof. Grayson wasted no time with this order, diving down at the Spinarak, rapidly pecking at its legs until it was successfully backed off to the alley bellow. The Spinarak had panicked and tried to defend itself with the webbing, but wasn't able to focus its aim well enough to hit the relentless bird.
With their communication line broken, the Spinarak had stopped their swaying and were now staring angrily towards Micah. Seeing it coming, Micah managed to block another String Shot from Smiley Face with his sword's sheath, but part of his leg was caught by a shot from the Nosey one the other roof. Luckily, it didn't do much to hinder his movement. It was just very uncomfortable to have your leg covered in spider web. "Ugh... Grayson, try to keep Nosey busy until we can take care Smiley, here." Micah instructed, looking to the bird. Grayson gave a determined nod as he made his way to the other room an immediately set about playing a game of 'tag' with the spider. This consisted of the Fletchling getting behind the Spinarak, pecking it in the back of the head, dodging a String Shot, and repeat.
Micah had to take care of Smiley before Grayson tired out. It wasn't too much of a worry, as that bird seemed to have limitless stamina, but still. "Go around to the other side of this one, Zephyr." The mercenary instructed to the Blitzle, keeping his still-sheathed sword raised already. He didn't feel right drawing it on these bugs, giant or not. Of course, that didn't mean he wouldn't use the sheath to knock it around if necessary. As Zephyr avoided another string shot and took position behind the Spinarak, Micah smirked as it seemed unsure which way to look. As look as they didn't look at its back, he was sure it wouldn't be able to use Scary Face or Confusion... He also realized that by placing Zephyr behind the Spinarak, he was making that more difficult. The Blitzle already seemed uncomfortable as Nosey seemed to be doing something...
"--Don't let it get to you, Zephyr, start stompin'!" Micah ordered, seeming to catch both the Spinarak and Zephyr off guard. The Blitzle was already under the effects of Confusion and seemed to panic, wildly stomping around in attempt to focus on the Spinarak's location. The Spinarak was just as panicked as it tried to dodge each of the hooves trying to bear down on it. Eventually it failed to dodge properly and left out a horrid sound as the Blitzle's hoof came down heavy right in the crease between its head and body. Blitzle kept his hoof down as it connected, letting out a snort of victory. Grinning as the Spinarak was pinned, Micah saw this as the perfect chance and grabbed an empty Pokeball from his belt. This little guy was his. Glancing over to make sure Grayson still had things going alright on his end, Micah tossed the Pokeball at the Smiling Spinarak.
