~January Week 4 A.P. 26~
Goals: For Venick to 'choose' a research specialty and think of ways to prettify Feebas and make it New Pallet. Maybe attempt to catch a Pokemon.
"Gre.." he groaned. His hands were jittery, one rubbed his non-visible eye while the other scratched the back of his neck. Dark circles seemed to deepen the man's eyes. Venick hadn't been sleeping well lately due to a sort of anxiety. It was probably caused by him sitting here doing nothing since he received Feebas. This was so weird for him, normally he had everything planned out, he knew what he wanted to do and how he would do it. Oak was probably a bit irritated with how little he's done since he 'started.' But he just felt so lost. What was he supposed to be doing anyway?
Feebas rolled around a bit in his lap to get adjusted. That was another thing, he couldn't go anywhere until he found another Pokemon, or helped Feebas to evolve. He had come up with a few ideas to prettify the Pokemon. Grooming, painting, dressing, and feeding her with specialized food. Unfortunately, they all required one thing that he did not have. Money. He scrunched up his mouth in annoyance of himself and lightly pet his Pokemon. He could do so much better than this.
What he needed to do, obviously, was his job. Unfortunately, the professor hadn't clearly drawn out any outline for exactly he was supposed to do as a researcher. Okay, yes, research. But research what exactly? His eyes fell to the Pokemon that was half-resting in his lap. Maybe evolution would be a good topic? A sigh escaped him. No. Too overdone. Maybe... Venick made a slight turn to inspect the Portal. He had been sitting on the platform that held the device for a few hours now, just contemplating things, but maybe there was something else that he could do with it..?
After all, Portal Energy was some of the most esoteric stuff the colonists had ever dealt with. It was able to power devices, be stored in crystals, there had to be some other benefits right? Another sigh. "Then I'd have to stay in Port City.. and, " Venick paused to look out to city, "I don't if I can't stand this place for much longer." With yet another grumble, Venick removed the strings from his pack to continue braiding them. This was probably going to become more or less of a de-stresser, but it worked, and it was also productive.
His soft, thin, and agile hands were perfect for this kind of work too. After all, he was a sort of tailor. "OH!" Venick shouted abruptly. Feebas popped up with a surprised sort of 'yip' as she was awakened by her trainer's loud noise. She used her fins to jump out of the man's lap and, with an expression of seriousness, scouted the surrounding area to find what made her partner shout. Finding that there was nothing, she raised an eyebrow and looked back to her trainer who was, well, talking to himself... Again.. Feebas opened her mouth to question, but decided to instead just sigh and hop back into Venick's lap.
Venick was completely oblivious to his Pokemon's actions, but that was just him. "Why didn't I think of this sooner! I mean, I make clothes! Those fabrics that I use are often made from plants and berries and such. Unfortunately, almost everything that we use here was brought from Earth, so we need to find new means of creating fabrics, am I right?" Feebas pipped up in confusion, 'Is he talking to me now or..?'
"So, maybe I should start researching berries! I mean, they're the origin of one of my favorite things!" He gasped, grabbed Feebas by the sides, and pounced onto his feet. "And maybe I'll be able to find some correlation with berry diet and how a Pokemon grows!" A forced and confused nod was Feebas' reply, but an oblivious Venick just continued his ramble with a gradually increasing dynamic. "And maybe I could even find some new berries that could make even nicer fabrics and colors and,"
"Feeeeeeeb," the fish groaned in annoyance. She pouted her lip and attempted to cross her fins. Venick let out a little chuckle. "Guess I'm getting a little ahead of myself huh?" A smirk crossed his face as he pulled the fish to his chest and hugged her. "Maybe we should do a little battling before today's over, whattaya say?"
"Fya!" she piped in excitement. She wasn't the toughest Pokemon around, but Feebas definitely had spunk, and Venick loved that about her. "Okay! Well let's get to looking then!"
