LILITH BELLEROSE !!
Lilith had thought long and hard about what to after she had caught the Drilbur. All attempts thus far to actually interact had been rather awful. The first time she released him from his pokeball, having set up camp outside of Port City, the small mole pokemon had managed to shred the tent she had erected as well as managing to injure both Roche and Vesper in the process. The woman had to do everything within her power not to out right kill the feisty beast. Ignis had remained surprisingly calm as Lilith had ran after the rampaging Drilbur before finally giving up and returning him to his pokeball. As Lilith sat in the remains of her camp, picking through the shredded fabric of the tent, she began to formulate a plan.
Each subsequent release from the pokeball had similar experiences. The little Drilbur rampaged, going out of his way to shred whatever he was near. It was clear that he was angry, but he was not making it easy for the trainer to make any leeway. As Lilith made her way to Iron Mine, her three pokemon by her side, she began to wonder if it would have been easier to simply release him after his first outburst.
No, the woman wasn't giving up that easily. From the first encounter, Lilith saw how strong the little pokemon was. From his ability to move earth so easily as well as his tenacious attitude, he would be an additon to the team... If she managed to tame him, that was.
The plan was to enter Iron Mine and release the Drilbur. There was nothing present that he could destroy and perhaps he'd even tucker himself out by slashing at the iron walls. Lilith had talked it over with Ignis and Vesper who had both simply shrugged, it was apparently that they weren't exactly fond of the Drilbur and didn't seem to care one way or another. Lilith hadn't given up hope yet, and had even bought a raw corka in an attempt to buy his affections.
The mine was cool, a stark contrast to the heat of the day. Lilith wiped sweat from her brow and blinked rapidly so her eyes would adjust to the new darkness. As she walked further into the cave, her fingers went to the belt at her waist. Five pokeballs hung loosely from clips, all radiating a slight warmth, indicating their full status.
It wasn't often that Lilith had kept Vesper and Ignis in their balls, but she needed the time to think about how to handle what she was about to do. Her fingers slid down the belt, running over the sphere where her timid Rhyhorn and mysterious egg sat. The last pokeball contained the Drilbur and the woman hesitated.
For now, she would keep her three pokemon contained. This was after all, an attempt to befriend the Drilbur. Knowing she was doing this without some sort of protection brought the initial fear back that Lilith had when she had originally stared down the pokemon. He would have killed her if given the chance, Lilith was acutely aware of that. Yet here she was, trying to befriend him.
Her position inside the cave let only a brief amount of light from the entrance in. Lilith was still able to see, her eyes now finally adjusted to the darkness. In her mind, she only hoped that the Drilbur would appreciate the surroundings she had chosen. After all, he was a subterranean pokemon, the harsh summer sun must blind him whenever he was out.
Without further hesitation, Lilith lifted the fifth pokeball and tossed it in the air, retreating backwards as she did so. As the small mole pokemon burst forth in a flash of red light, he did exactly what was expected. Large silver claws primed and ready, he swung blindly at the walls, hoping he would manage to destroy something. His own claws, tough as iron, created a horrid amount of screeching as they hit the walls. The echoing of the cave only magnified the sound, causing Lilith to cover her ears and grimace.
Drilbur kept it up for a solid ten minutes. Although his eyes adjusted in the darkness, he continued to swing in a blind rage. However, as the minutes passed, his swings slowed and became sloppy. What were once precise attacks were simply a messy jab. His claws stopped hitting the iron walls and eventually he dropped his arms to his side. Drilbur panted, his shoulders heaving and drooping rapidly as he began to curiously look around the cave.
During his outburst, Lilith had sat herself down quite a few feet away. Curling her feet under her, she had simply lay her pack next to her. Upon seeing her, the Drilbur huffed and hunched his shoulders. Deciding to ignore his obvious standoffish pose Lilith began speaking. "Talo means blade in a language long dead from my home planet." Lilith explained, keeping her eyes on the Drilbur as she spoke. Despite her relaxed posture, her hand curled around her belt, ready to release the rest of her team should he decide to attack. "Kind of like your blades." Lilith said, pointing to the silver claws on the end of the pokemon's hands.
"I think I'm going to name you Talo." Lilith said after a pause, watching as the Drilbur's shoulders relaxed and he titled his head ever so slightly as if listening. "It's a warriors name." She said finally, ever so slowly and deliberately turning herself towards the pack. She fished out the corka she had purchased, the raw piece of meat wrapped in a wax paper and still dripping. The smell of the raw meat immediately filled the cave's entrance and Lilith almost worried she would draw out other pokemon. She figured she would deal with that later, if it came to it.
She readjusted herself, returning to the position she was in prior to fishing out the snack. Lilith watched the Talo's eyes, passing the corka between her hands. The beady black eyes followed every movement intently, the star shaped nose twitching sporadically. "Would you like some, Talo?" Lilith asked, her voice mellow and inviting.
In response, Talo hissed, his star shaped nose going taut and pointing angrily at the corka. Lilith felt herself tensing, expecting an attack. The two stared at each other for what felt like hours, neither moving a muscle. When it became apparent that the Drilbur would starve instead, Lilith unwrapped the treat and tossed it a few feet away from her. The raw corka made a sickening squishing noise as it hit the ground. "It's yours if you want it." Lilith finally said, realizing the Drilbur had once again turned his whole attention towards the treat.
Talo looked towards Lilith, the apparent distrusts and anger shooting daggers from his eyes. Still, he was hungry and that corka smelled awfully good... He dove forward, snatching up the meat and retreated back to his original position. The mole pokemon devoured the treat in less than a minute, his eyes never leaving Lilith. The woman simply sat still, giving an encouraging smile whenever her eyes met his. "See? That wasn't so bad Talo, now was it?" She asked gently, trying to use his new name as much as possible.
Talo hissed his reply, sending pieces of meat flying. Lilith tried not to laugh at the comical scene. Despite his terrifying demeanor and obviously hostile stance, she couldn't help but smile at how messily he ate. "Ready to go?" Lilith asked hopefully, getting another angry hiss in response. Lilith stood up, motioning for the Drilbur to follow as she began a slow walk towards the entrance of the tunnel.
When it became apparent that Talo would not move, even crossing his arms in emphasis, Lilith sighed and tossed his pokeball into the air, returning him to his dwellings. "Can't win 'em all, huh?" She asked, her voice echoing before fading away.
