Only a few hours before Jason's arrival at the shop:
Having just returned from her trip to Mister R Margaret had decided already on a first course of action. She was going to do all in her might to impress the gentleman, and the first thing she was going to need to do that was to foster a positive relationship between herself and the partner he had generously provided her. She had just returned to her store, her supplies accompanied by several purchases she had done on the way homewards. After having placed them in the room at the back of the store the young woman finally pulled the dual-colored sphere from her belt and with a graceful sweep of her hand lobbed the object into the air.
Of course she couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement coursing through her body at the sensation of having her first Pokémon be released from its container. The Pawniard emerged in a flash of light, the human-like shape of the creature as it stretched to its full one feet and eight inches tall height made it look a little bit impressive in her eyes. certainly, she had seen larger Pokémon before but there was something about this creature that made her feel as if he was worthy of that admiration. The seriousness in the Pawniard's eyes suggested she was dealing with a mature Pokémon, or at least someone who knew when to behave. That was a good thing, in the end a businesswoman like her needed companions who were able to be professional during their work. Or at the very least not cause their behavior to become a hindrance.
"I guess this is as good a time as any to introduce myself. My name is Margaret, Margaret Knight. It seems Mister R has deemed you a suitable partner for my endeavors."
The Pawniard nodded his head curtly in response. He had been prepared for the day he was about to receive a partner of his own, and fortunately for him it seemed that the partner he was paired up with at least had a serious air around her.
"My ambitions are to create new technology to help protect ourselves and find prosperity once more. However, the threat of feral Pokémon remains evident, and without the proper aid of a Pokémon I will never be able to accomplish this goal by myself. I will ensure that you are properly fed and taken care of, while in return I will expect you to protect me and help me during my work."
Sounded like a logical trade to him, and a fair one at that also. The blond-haired woman raised a fingertip to her cheek, tapping it lightly while she mused out loud.
"However, I believe we'll have to get you a name first. Something that might fit your appearance. How does Berserker sound to you? A fierce and powerful warrior who will know no restrains when it comes to his battles. I am inexperienced in the art of battling, so I will merely provide suggestions for you to follow depending on my limited knowledge. You're free to make your own decisions if they don't hinder our chances at victory or safety."
The Pawniard hesitated for a moment, to be given the free reigns in a battle was a choice few owners ever made, and even fewer openly admitted their inexperience in such a straight-forward manner also. Nevertheless, he couldn't help but smile briefly before nodding his head in approval.
"On terms of your work: You will be mostly left in charge of carrying materials and helping slice them for me. We will be practicing this for a bit until we get visitors."
The Pawniard tilted his head to the side in confusion at the comment the young woman had given him. In the end she had distributed the fliers a while ago, and she was confident it would be only a matter of hours, or maybe days before a mercenary would arrive at her doorstep willing to take the job. It was a way to make some easy money, so surely there wouldn't be any complains."
Despite the sound of the door to the shop opening there was little to no greeting from within. Although a momentary glance around the shop would have suggested the store wasn't abandoned, the moment the man had raised his voice in an attempt to draw attention to his presence a loud 'cling' sound came from nearby. Another cling followed and suddenly a feminine voice resounded from further inside.
"I'll be there momentarily!"
Several more of the loud cling sounds came from inside the store, and judging from the heated air that flown through the store, even with the small windows at the top letting in fresh air it was clear that something hot was further inside. It shouldn't have been too difficult to guess with the name of the store, right? Indeed, inside the large room beside the storefront was a large forge, albeit to the owner's annoyance it was currently in dire need of reconstruction. However, the young woman had been busy working around an anvil, seemingly instructing a Pawniard who had been busy carrying a large box filled with ores from one spot to another, and soon the duo emerged at the store front, the Pawniard placing the box of ores next to the counter while Margaret herself walked past it and approached the man. Her expression was a calm smile, the type you'd usually see from a store owner who tried to play the poker face, an act she was pretty good at.
"Welcome to the Forge, here for an order--- hmm..."
She paused for a moment, her eyes sharpening their gaze at the presence of the man's Pokémon before she mused softly.
"It's difficult to determine whether you're a potential client, or a skilled mercenary. Both are more than welcome at the forge, albeit the latter would be more useful. The name is Margaret Knight, the owner of this humble establishment. And you are?"
And with the smile still on her lips she extended a hand in a greeting, the sight of the Pawniard placing what appeared to be an box that had an egg inside it nearby the box with ores it had just transported.
