For being born in and growing up in a rather dangerous area, you would think Jason would be more on the scrawny side; at least until they got everything more settled in. You are quite wrong. Jason stands at nearly six feet in height; he has a rather muscular build, and often carries himself that makes himself appear more intimidating than he actually is. His skin is somewhat tanned; his skin also appears dirty more often than not, as he tends to enjoy being outdoors more than behind trapped inside.
His eyes are a light blue, and kind in appearance compared to the rest of him. His hair is cut fairly short, and his a dirty blond. As he is often on the move, Jason is rarely clean shaved. Often you will find him with sideburns and beard whenever you come into contact with him.

everyday Considering that Jason spends most of his time outdoors, his everyday attire tends to fit that. T-shirts are a common for him in the warmer months, often covered by a vest and a pair of shorts or jeans. Boots are a necessity for him to be able to trudge and climb otherwise difficult areas. On the rare occasion, he can also be seen wearing a hat, to keep the sun out of his eyes. He also wears a belt to hang things such as Pokeballs and smaller items on. | formal Jason does not have much formal wear, other than some home made clothes or hand me downs he can wear while staying in a city or settlement. |

Jason's 'main' backpack consists of a small one strap backpack with only a few places to put things. This is mostly used to carry rope, healing item and the likes, whistle his built carries smaller items such as the Poke\balls for his team and berries for his Pokemon. If something can't fit in either of these two places, then Jason will often leave it behind, so long as it isn't useful.
personality
ACTIVE, ADAPTABLE; Being a Ranger meant that you had to be able to live in the harshest environments and that you were always on the move for more adventure; or so Jason had been told by his father. As such, Jason is a rather active and adaptable fellow; easily willing to go into new terrain if faced with it. Often times, he is unwilling to relent; becoming hard headed in his ways and not wanting to give up on a quest or challenge so easily.
BLUNT; While generally a kind and relaxed person, Jason can also be rather straightforward and blunt; especially when he doesn't like you. There are times when it almost appears as if he wasn't aware he was offending anyone, and can be considered a dolt. He wasn't considered the top of his class in high school, after all.
CAUTIOUS; Jason often does his best to be cautious and tries to think ahead. Being a rangers means that he is often out on the road, and he knows he has to think ahead and be smart. He often tends to be - at least when it comes to common sense and taking care of yourself in the wild.
CHARISMATIC; Jason often seems up beat and very charismatic. You often have to be when you're always on the move. Jason usually doesn't mind keeping such a facade around others; nor does he let it slip out often. He does seem to have a lot of stamina.
CURIOUS; Jason tends to be a rather curious person. It can be rather hard for him to back out of exploring a new place, or learning about a new Pokemon. This can mean getting a few bruises here and there from sticking his head where it shouldn't belong, but he doesn't seem to mind.
GENTLE; Jason is a rather gentle and kind person; especially towards baby Pokemon, and people younger than himself. Although he can occasionally act like an ass when he is not having a good day, he can usually be quite reasonable and kind to others he meets. He believes his job is to help others, and to help further humanity as a whole.

the backstory
Jason was born to some of the earliest settlers in Mi-aro; as such, he knows nothing of PokeEarth (he has, however seen plenty of pictures and heard stories of the Old World from his parents). His mother - a traveling scientist by the name of Claire James - and her husband Austin - who was a construction worker for one of the bigger companies in Mi-aro - had came shortly after the calamity that befell PokeEarth, however several trinkets and pictures lie around the house for Jason to look at.
Being that his parents were often busy in their respective fields, Jason was often found in the care of a babysitter of the sorts. His mother often tried to bring her son back some presents here and there for her son when she could. Austin was home more often than she, since his job generally kept him in the settlement in which they resided. Jason became close to his father because of this.
At age seven, it became apparent that Jason was not going to become a more intelligent worker like his mother; his studies were poor, and he seemed to have a horrible attention span as well. He often seemed to prefer day dreaming than paying attention in class. This could easily irritate his mother; especially when his father seemed to care less of his sons education while the New World was still being built.
At age nine, tragedy struck. It was and still is a given that if one travels outside of a settlement, be it in a group or alone, there was the possibility of something occurring or going amiss in their explorations. Claire and her colleagues were no different. They had been sent into the vast unknown of Mi-aro to study the area in the hopes of finding more hospitable places to live; or, at the very least, to find items which could be used in their success. Claire and her comrades one week after the start of summer - and, approximately four days into their journey, stopped responding to their bosses back in New Pallet.
No one knows what exactly happened to them, as no traces of them has been found as of yet. They had been presumed after three days of searching to no avail, although Jason's father thought better of it. Young Jason was quite unfazed by this; while he was greatly saddened by his mother's disappearance, he was sure that she would eventually return one day.
This chance lessened more and more as time passed, and it was obviously beginning to take a toll on young Jason. His grades obviously did not improve; they possibly did worse, in fact. Often the boy was alone at home beginning around the time of his twelfth birthday. He learned quickly how to fend for himself whenever his father could not be at home.
At age sixteen was when he decided to stop moping about everything. By now, he had taken to doing small jobs around their small settlement they called a town in order to help his father make a little cash for the two of them. The young man quickly found that he quite enjoyed helping others and the few tame Pokemon that resided around where he lived. He had been talking to his father late one night about his 'job', and his father finally found the right title to put to what he did - a ranger.
Since then, Jason has been working to save enough money as so he could get his own Pokemon and venture the wilds of their new home.
