~Strange sounds have been heard outside of New Pallet, The Ambassador urges trainers to be ready in case of an attack~
Summer is kicking in Port City! The temperature averages about 78°F (25°C) with a bit more rain than usual. Thunderstorms pop up every once in awhile, but overall, the sun is shining, the water's warm, and it looks like it'll be a great summer for the colonies.
Micah grinned idly to himself, as he stepped past the entryway and into the familiar building, his eyes darting about as if he'd never been inside before. Of course he had, many times, but it seemed to be a little quirk of his to always look around upon entering a room. Why? Who knows. He probably didn't even know, himself. Upon completing his habitual look-about, the overly tall male approached the counter. Setting his hands against the wood as he leaned against it, his fingers immediately set about tapping an impatient beat. He barely remembered to actually greet the receptionist before asking about the scheduled meeting.
"Get Oak out here, yeah? I'm getting a Pokemon and stuff, today." He spoke, nodding his head some. His mind was obviously elsewhere, with the way he spoke as well as the way his eyes continued to wander about. "He's here, right? I'ma be mad if he stood me up." He joked after a moment, giving an amused smile. Still, his impatience stood prominent. He'd been waiting for this day for a good while, and if there was anything he hated, it was waiting. Ew. But still, he'd somehow managed. It had him currently on edge and ready to explode, but he'd managed...

Before the desk attendant even had time to answer, the door to the left flung open. A small metallic Pokemon with magnets on either side of its body was acting as a hang glider for a tiny, pink creature. The baby allowed one of its hands to release the Magnemite's magnet in order to excitedly motion the trainer into the room.
Upon entering, Micah would see a large laboratory with a few Pokemon running around. No sign of Oak though.. Somewhere above and behind the man, an excited chirp sounded along with a light "Aha!! Gotcha!" A pale woman with short blue hair gave a little giggle as she clasped a firey red bird in her hands. She sported a traditional lab coat with a lovely orange sundress that had the consistency of Furfa and a matching headband.
"Oh! You must be Micah!" she chimed as she made her way down the stairs behind the trainer. As she reached the ground floor, she handed the trainer, who was a good foot taller than her, the tiny bird. "Oak had to go to an emergency meeting at the Emissary, but don't worry," she waved a hand across the room, "He already picked your Pokemon."
The woman gave a nod, "I'm Professor Aurisa Ivy, I run our other Laboratory in New Pallet." She gave a winning smile to the trainer before she scratched the back of her neck in embarrassment, "I actually came to have a word with The Good Professor myself, but as soon as I came in he tossed his lab coat at me and had his assistant fill me in." Another chuckle came from the professor as she leaned against the desk that sat in front of the trainer. "It seems I'll be pushing you out of the nest today babe," she winked before flitting her eyes to the Pokemon that bounced around the room. "So let's do this!"
Aurisa took a moment to gather information from the Pokemon herself before introducing any of them to Micah. "Uh huh.... Ah.... Hah I see.." she mumbled as her eyes went to each of the starters.
"So you must be a spirited guy with a lot of spunk and isn't a big fan of waiting around!" she stated more than asked. The pink Pokemon that was riding the Magnemite finally released the creature and plopped onto the horse-like animal.
"Mime Jr. is the one that sent for you. They have affinity for cleaning up messes and organizing, but as you can probably tell by its appearance and personality, they're big fans of entertainment and fun too." The horse Pokemon narrowed its eyes at the clown before attempting to shrug the baby Pokemon off its back.
"That one is Blitzle. They're quite adventurous creatures, in fact, I've read book about herds that were basically storm chasers, It's fascinating to think about. Oh! And when they evolve, they're some of the fastest Pokemon I've ever seen, which is always a plus if you do lots of traveling."
"Next we have - " Aurisa paused for a moment as she noticed the other two Pokemon eyeing each other. One, the large mantis, seemed to have a more agitated countenance while to smaller mammalian one had a more mocking expression. The professor shrugged and continued, "Scyther and Sneasel. Both are excellent choices for an adventurer simply for their ability to cut through thick layers of brush, but they're also very quick Pokemon that are great in a pinch!"
"Finally," she nudged the beak of the bird in Micah's hand with her thumb. Although it had been spiritfully flapping around the room before the man entered, it now had an unfocused gaze and only blinked sarcastically to the professor's interaction "Fletchling are high-energy, competitive Pokemon. We were 'playing' a game of hide-and-seek before you got here, but of course, I won, and this little baby is a bit of a sore loser." She gave the bird a wink, causing it to roll its eyes in response. A closed-eye smile crossed her features, "And even though it's tiny now, one day it'll evolve into a Talonwing, a fast and powerful Pokemon that you can even hitch a ride on if you want!"
She quickly counted to make sure she went over all five before giving the soon-to-be trainer a nod. "All right, as a Mercenary you can pick two! Oh!"
Aurisa reached for a Pamphlet on the desk and handed it to Micah. "You can also choose from any of the traditional starters as well if you'd like! So go on then!" ((Aurisa Ivy's fc is Levy McGarden from FairyTail just so you know~))
Micah blinked, his posture straightening as the door suddenly swung open, and watching as a little pierrot Pokemon hanging from a Magnemite partially released its hold to wave him over. Momentarily forgetting his impatience at the sight, the male chuckled and nodded, following the Mime Jr.'s gestures into the next room. Glancing around, he took note of all the activity and tilted his head back at the sound of chirping nearby. Not immediately seeing the source, he straightened and turned just in time to witness the woman catch the little Fletchling. Initially confused as he realized he had no idea who this was, Micah blinked idly as she made her way down the stairs and towards him, placing the little bird in his hands.
He seemed to snap out of his confusion as she explained and introduced herself, nodding along as she spoke. "Oh wow, he really did stand me up." Micah joked lightly, glancing down at the little feathered one in his hands, lifting it up to eye level. "Talk about rude, huh?" He continued, giving the obviously moody bird an amused smile before lowing it again and looking back to the professor as she continued her explanation. Nodding some more as she went on to introduce and explain each Pokemon. It now seemed that Micah was just now realizing that he would have to choose, as his expression took on a hint of horror.
Focusing as well as he could as Aurisa went over each one, he frowned, going over each and every detail multiple times in his mind. Difficult choices were definitely not his forte. And what of the ones he didn't choose? Would they be upset? Oh, man. "Er... I'm gonna need a moment.." He spoke, running a hand through his hair in nervous habit. After taking another moment to recompose himself, he allowed the little bird to remain in his hand as he began walking around the lab, looking over each one as they interacted and replaying the information in his mind.
Mime Jr... It would certainly be a fun one to have around, but after a good deal of thought, he decided that he just wouldn't feel right taking something so innocent into dangerous areas with him. He'd be constantly on guard... No he needed Pokemon that he could trust to fend for themselves, at least to an extent. He was a Mercenary, not a babysitter. Giving an apologetic smile, towards the little clown, he reached to give it a quick pet and tickle before glancing towards the equine Pokemon that it sat atop of. Micah smiled at the look of annoyance in the Blitzle's expression, then reaching to pet it as well. Going over the information a few more times, he realized that this one would be a perfect choice. An adventure chasing speedster with an attitude.
Nodding to himself and taking a moment to gently place the Fletchling onto his shoulder, he looked towards the natural rivals in the room. The Scyther and Sneasel... Yes, either one of them could certainly protect themselves when necessary, and would be useful for his job, but... Mm... That was about as far as that went. There wasn't much of a connection. Idly bouncing on his heels, his brows furrowed as he tried to focus his thoughts. It was only after a few moments of this that he suddenly realized that he'd already made his second choice.
"...Ahah, alright, I think I've got this figured out. The Blitzle and Fletchling, here, would make a great team for me." He spoke confidently, nodding along. He was sure that both of them would be able to keep themselves out of too much trouble and even if they were small now, they could grow into some pretty amazing partners. Land or sky, nothing would be able to slow him down! Yep, it was decided.

Aurisa beamed with a bright smile, “Both are excellent choices.” In a flash of light the other three pokemon had been recalled, their pokeballs put carefully away in a drawer. Before going to the shelves she slipped the two pokemons’ pokeballs into the new mercenary’s hands. “Take good care of them.”
She spun on her heels, lab coat flying behind her, as she headed towards the large shelves that were lined with many items. “Now you need items. We can’t send you into the wilds without some gear.”
The small woman grabbed several items, her arms looking quite full, and she spilled them all over the desk. “That is an X-gear, it comes with a holo chip and is preprogramed with Oak’s number. Make sure to call him if you run into any trouble.”
The young blue-haired woman then directed the trainer to two chips held safely in glass cases. “These are an ability chip and a dex chip, both are helpful for trainers. You may pick one as a gift.”
Aurisa then gestured to the array of items on the desk. “Please feel free to select any 3 items. They are all trainer items you can find at the global market for under 35₪.”
You many choose Blitzle and Fletchling's gender, nature and ability.
Also you must post in the Request thread every time you want a reply so you don't get forgotten by a mod.
Micah smiled and nodded as he was given the two Pokeballs, then watching in curiosity as Ivy went about gathering his options and gifts, unsure if he should help as the sheer amount seemed ready to flood from her arms. It seemed she had it covered, however, soon letting the items spill out onto the desk. Idly nodding along some more as she explained his choices, he looked over the items with furrowed brows. He knew what some of the stuff did... He should have probably had a more general knowledge of such things, but he'd always had a terrible habit of only paying attention to things that interested him.
"Right, uh..." He started, looking between the Dex and Ability chips. He was pretty sure he understood what those were for. "I'll have the Ability chip, then." He decided, again nodding self-confirmation. "And then... Well.." He muttered, looking over the trainer items intently. Maybe he thought if he stared at them fiercely enough, he'd understand which he needed most. Ahh, choices, choice... Always with the choices. His posture straightening as he lost himself in thought, he raised a hand to where the Fletchling still sat on his shoulder, nuzzling it with his index finger. "Hmm... Ah. Okay, I've got it. I'll take the... Big meat snack thing, an Antidote, and... I think this one is Ice Heal?" He decided, pointing out each object.

With her usual raspy giggle, Ivy nodded. "Sounds good to me!" She picked each item up and shoved them into the man's arms. "Oh, that's Corka by the way. I'm surprised you've never heard of it, most people in Port City eat it, although it does look a bit different raw... Alright, I'll give you that one," she chuckled.
Vibrations began to sound from a small device that hung from the woman's neck. Surprise took her countenance for a moment before she pressed the device between her index and thumb, this caused a holo screen to pop in front of her face that seemed to originate from the necklace. Another button was pressed mid-air before a floating picture of Oak's head appeared.
- "Professor Ivy! I won't be back for a few hours, do you think you can handle things for a little while?" -
"Sir, I really do need to speak with you and get back to New Pallet..."
- "Oh no need! Anita's already filled me in on the details about -" -
"Actually professor, this isn't about the sounds coming from the forest."
- "Oh?" -
"Some of the colonists from Pallet have been asking if I could give them their starter choices there instead of making the dangerous trip here first, but we can discuss that more when you get back."
- "Hm... Alright! See you in a few! Oh! And tell Mira that The Ambassador wants all trainers to head to New Pallet immediately! Toodaloo ~" -
Without allowing his colleague a chance to respond, his light-based image disappeared. Aurisa tipped her head before referring back to the new trainer, "Well, looks like you'll be heading to New Pallet! I'll be there eventually, so feel free to find me at the Windmill if you need anything. In fact!" She pressed another button from the side of her device, which revealed a tin green chip. With that, she grabbed Micah's X-gear and slipped the chip in.
- new contact installed: Professor Aurisa Ivy -
"Alright! You're all set! You can call Oak or myself if you need help! See you in Pallet Mira ~ " she winked before exiting to the back of the lab.
Well. Micah had his Pokemon, items, and mission. He was good to go whenever he was ready!
Micah blinked a the items were shoved towards him, quickly recollecting himself to avoid dropping any of it and sliding an old rucksack off his shoulders to put it all away. Corka... Right, he knew that. Pff, of course... Looking back up from his bag at the sounds from the necklace, the Merc watched as Aurisa answered the call. She didn't seem to care if he overheard (saw?) the conversation, so he didn't bother trying to seem polite and not listen. He was too curious, either way, really. Why had Oak run off in such a hurry as Ivy described? Must've been something really interesting going on... Hmm...
--Mira? Hell... Well, he could only expect as much from Oak. It could be worse... His expression fixed in a befuddled frown at the false name, Micah idly rubbed at the back of his neck as the conversation continued. Wasn't really giving him much to go on, something about strange sounds in the forests around New Pallet... New Pallet? Ooh, he had an excuse to go to New Pallet! Micah grinned, standing by as the call was ended and Aurisa turned to address him. Nodding as she spoke, he watched as she added herself to his X-gear, blinking a few times as it was handed back to him, glancing it over. He'd never had one of his own, before...
Well, so far it was all off to a good start. As Aurisa turned to leave, Micah turned to his new Blitzle and lifted the Fletchling from his shoulder to set atop the equine's nose. "Well, then... Hey, guys. Let's go get to know each other before we head out of town, hm?" He suggested with a grin, only then turning to leave the lab for the Pokemon to follow. He couldn't immediately coop them up in Pokeballs before even giving them names after all.
