It was a strange thought to Phoenix that now, him being 27, years old he’d be getting his first Pokémon. This was usually a rite of passage for teenagers and the like. And here he was almost 10 years late. But it wasn’t like he has been sitting on a bench watching the Ledyba fly around. He had real world experience, and that is probably why his parents urged him to go see this Ambassador. If it was up to Phoenix he’d be out in the thick of it right now… looking for a new river, or campground. That is what he loved about this new world; the chance to start something amazing. He heard stories of huge cities, and large building, and secret caves, and now he wanted that. He wanted to start that. He had the skill set to do it…now he just needed the partner.
Phoenix’s hair wasn’t tidy, he hadn’t’ taken a shower in at least 2 days, and there was dried blood on his color and mud splatter everywhere. Somehow he still looked decent though. The whole look blended well with his scruffy face, and somehow only managed to brighten his pretty smile and emerald eyes. As he opened the door he only imagined what the secretary at the front desk thought. He could see her nose wince, though she was very professional and Phoenix was sure any normal person would have not even noticed. “I’m here for the ‘Ambassador’” He raised his lightly hairy arms and did air quotations. He didn’t understand nicknames like that. Would they start calling him the “Nomad” or something ridiculous like that once he started building rapport with this group?
Phoenix waited patiently, until he was allowed in. Upon entering he couldn’t but widen his eyes. He never had seen this much…stuff. His life was on his backpack, and maybe a small chest at his parent’s humble cabin. He didn’t want to admit he was mildly impressed though, with a goofy smirk on your face. “Reporting for duty…?” He asked more than said. “I guess. That’s what people say in situations like this right?” He shrugged his shoulder and smiled.

((In future please do not Godplay the NPC, that is the Mod's job. Thanks.)) The lady behind the large desk was busy glued to her work. She didn’t seem to notice Pheonix until he approached and announced his presence, though it was not needed as other sense could do it for him. “The Ambassador of the colonies is Anita Nguyen,” she corrected harshly not taking kindly to the sarcasm, “Her office is through that door and up the stairs. She is expecting you.”Upon entering, Pheonix would find a large woman sitting behind a desk, neck deep in paperwork. She wore a well-fitted royal blue suit with dangling blue earrings, her silk black hair was tied into a tight bun, and her navy rimmed glasses sat at the edge of her nose. Her office was as organised as her appearance; everything had a place among the tight lines and rich colours. After a few moments the Ambassador took off her glasses, rubbing the brink of her nose, before looking at the man in her doorway. “Phoenix Vitale, I presume.” She did not wait for a reply, “I am Anita Nguyen, the Ambassador of the colonies. I apologize for making you wait. My schedule is booked solid so this will need to be quick.“Please take a seat,” she offered while reaching into a draw. She placed five pokeballs neatly on top of the desk. “Let us get down to business, shall we?” From there she pressed each button revealing all the five choices for Pheonix to select as one of his starter pokemon. Before she could introduce the first pokemon, the purple monkey-like pokemon had already started approaching the new trainer. He raised himself up balancing on his tail, still a little too short to look the man straight in the eyes. “That’s Aipom. They are great companions in wooded areas, as their tail helps them travel quickly through the trees.” Aipom pushed off the ground with its tail and did a back flip, landing next to Anita. “They are also very playful.”“This is Larvitar,” the little grenn Pokemon stepped forward and glared up at Pheonix. “They are tough Pokemon, a great asset in a fight or exploring rocky areas. They can be a little difficult to train, but once you gain their trust they are very loyal.” As if to agree to the description Larvitar nodded its head once, placing its hands on its hips. “Here are Buizel and Poliwag. They both enjoy swimming, such as yourself. I feel it is always a good idea to have a pokemon that you have something in common with.”Moving on quickly she introduced Pheonix’s final pokemon. “This here is Poochyena. This pokemon has strong endurance and a key sense of smell to chase down any prey.” The dog-like pokemon approached on its owner. It seemed to approve of his scent of the wilds and sat down to scratch its right ear. “You may also choose from this pamphlet. The choice is yours.”

Phoenix started to mumble under his breath, but decided it best not to. This Ms. Nguyen and her office were the ones in fact that were doing him the favor. They were giving him his first pokemon. Phoenix gave a slight nod, to indicate acknowledgement of her directions and continued to walk through the door and up the stairs. He didn’t know what to think, or what to expect. He heard about this lady, and she was apparently the most powerful woman in this new world of Mi-aro, but he didn’t understand how one woman could have that much power. He wasn’t in the position to do any judging though. He was just a lowly man who crawled through the jungles of a new planet he and his people called home.
Phoenix opened his mouth to answer that, she was correct, of course she was correct. Hopefully she knew who she was scheduling appointments with. However before anything could come out of his mouth she continued. His mouth slowly closed, as he pondered about her ‘polite’ way of inviting him and pretty much telling him to hurry up and leave. She offered him a seat, but he silently declined as she continued to talk. He continued to observe her. As least she seemed to be telling the truth. Either she was just a very pushy woman, or she genuinely had a lot to do, which was the reason she was rushing past Phoenix. “Definitely. Business. Let’s do it” He concurred, though it seemed it didn’t really matter what he said at this point.
Then she opened up the pokeballs, and everything changed. His verdant eyes lit up, and a smile on his face. Of course he has seen pokemon…plenty of pokemon. Feral ones, tame ones, nice ones and mean ones. But the prospect that any one of these pokemon would be his… His partner, his friend. The thought was running wildly though his imagination. First up was the dexterous and playful monkey pokemon. It was definitely cute, and he could see himself running through the forest, jumping over logs, and dodging trees, as his Aipom swung from branch to branch in unison with him. Next was the little rock pokemon. He didn’t know what to make of it, but it was definitely…not him. It wasn’t open, and to be honest it seemed to slow for his liking.
The two water pokemon seemed interesting, however he didn’t want to have to be bound to the water at all times, especially the little blue one. It seemed too clumsy out of water. Finally, the little charcoaled puppy was introduced, and walked right up to Phoenix, under his dangling hand, took a whiff, and ears perked up, hind paw scratching at it. And that was that. Phoenix was done… he already knew. He didn’t even take a second to think it over.
“I’ll take this little guy!”
He smiled and slowly put his palm out to have the puppy walk up to him, hopefully for a small scratch behind the ear.
“Do I need to sign anything?”

A deep sigh called from the woman as the trainer chose his Pokemon. A tiny grin lifted her tired cheeks, he definitely picked the right partner. "Nothing to sign here. But we're not finished just yet." Her eyes moved to the shelves on the wall in front of her, she motioned Phoenix to do the same. The shelves were lined with hundreds of items for the young trainer to choose from. Trainer Items, Survival stuff, Tools, Weapons, Trophies, you name it.
"You may choose seven Survival Items under 35₪, as well as a Melee Weapon."
Anita slid a few more items across her desk for the trainer. The stack included 3 pokeballs, a toolbag, and an X-gear with a Holo chip.
---
After the trainer picked his items, the Ambassador stood up and moved to the door. "My number is already installed in the Holo chip. I don't know what you plan to do from here, but I would suggest making your way to New Pallet and see about exploring further out. And if you ever need assistance, don't be afraid to call." Anita extended her hand to the trainer with an exhausted but sincere smile. "Any questions before you go?"
You may choose Poochyena's Name, Ability, and Gender

Phoenix watched as the puppy approached his dangling hand, slowly sniffing the air once again. Once Phoenix figured he had the puppy’s approval he slowly moved his hand to the Pokémon’s erect ears; where he graciously scratched the little guys ears. Poochyena seemed to enjoy it, as his tail began to wag wildly, and back leg started to lightly twitch. Phoenix’s verdant eyes lit up, and a smile went from ear to ear. This was his very own Pokémon. He couldn’t believe it. Phoenix almost completely forgot about the ambassador, until she spoke up again telling him he had to choose a few items to start. Phoenix perused through her wares, before he found some stuff that he thought would help him the best. He threw him in his pack, not particularly organized, but so that it wasn’t a total nightmare to retrieve later. He grabbed the X-Gear and attached it to his wrist, not exactly sure what it was, but instinctively knew that is where it belonged.
He listed to her once again, listening to her suggestion about heading out to New Pallet, which was his original intentions anyway.
He thanked his mentor one last time, and headed out the door calling his new pokemon. At first the pokemon tilted its head and looked back at the ambassador. However once seconds later it galloped over to him, almost hitting the door as it slid, because of the slick floor. Phoenix just laughed and thought, ‘silly puppy’
Phoenix obtained: X3 Pokeballs X1 Tool Bag X1 X-Gear *Holo Chip X1 Waterskin X1 Water Filter X1 Tent X1 Bedroll X1 Large Net X1 Machete X1 Flint and Steel X1 Wooden Pole (Weapon choice)
(short reply is short)
