Prof. Quercus Oak's Lab
Just on the eastern outskirts of Port City resting on a large open plain, is the Oak Laboratory. The building has the foundation of Pokemon made concrete, like most major buildings, and is held up by very sturdy, steel arcs to help set its circular form. The outside is blanketed in layers of thin sheets of steel that were welded on using Pokepower. Up top, the roof is separately built. It is cut into several triangular shapes that meet at the tip; when activated, the roof will retract and raise up a large satellite. This contraption is what allows the Broadcasting Network to connect to the other settlements and trainers.
On the inside there are several rooms. Immediately upon entering the building, you will find yourself in a large open room with nothing but a few wooden stools and a counter (behind which is a saloon-style door that leads to the other rooms). New Researchers and Mercenaries are encouraged to wait for the professor in this room. There will often be a desk attendant here who will collect and reward Data Logs.
The other rooms are reserved for pokeball storage and lab experiments. There are a few that have labeled as "RESTRICTED" by Oak, so it's best not to explore there for obvious reasons.
Oak gives new trainers a choice of five pokemon to choose from. However, if the trainer dislikes the choices, he or she may choose from one of the original starter sets. Only one per trainer!
