He had left New Pallet almost two weeks ago, giving himself enough time to travel between the two settlements and arrive without any trouble. The journey was slow, careful, and well planned. He made sure that nothing got in his way. He avoided everyone and everything until he arrived in Port City. He had never been to the large city that held the portal between worlds. He never had the reason to until now. The overcrowded city was almost suffocating to someone who grew up in a town of only a couple thousand. He should not be too surprised if he ran into trouble here. A farmer's boy like him had no place in such a place, so he must be careful while he stuck around just long enough to get what he needed.
The short man shoved his hands into his pockets, narrowed eyes glaring at everything in sight. He tried to go over the directions to the emissary in his head, but he only found himself getting lost. He should have gotten a map before he left or right when he arrived. They should have those of the city by now. He could also stop and ask for directions, but what man actually does that? Definitely not this man, unless he was really lost. He wasn't that desperate, so he should be fine without looking for a map or someone to get help from. A few more turns later, he actually found the place he was looking for. It stood out from the rest of the city, so it was hard to miss. If he looked hard enough, he probably could have seen the road to the portal not far from the building.
Damion let out a heavy sigh, taking his first step onto the emissary grounds. He paid no attention to his surroundings, ignoring the beautiful garden that the gardeners probably enjoyed tending to each day. He ignored any decorations that he passed, keeping his dark gaze focused on the entrance to the emissary. He reached it in no time, and a pale hand extended to open the door. He stepped through, carefully closing the door so that no noise was made except for the soft click as the door latched. The man turned around, heading towards what he presumed was the waiting room.
Upon entering the large room, his gaze swept around the room, finally bothering enough to at least look at the decorations. His eyes landed on the attendant towards the back, and his feet were quick to guide him to the back of the room. He bypassed the tables and chairs, walking around them so they were not in his way. Once he reached the back, he fixed his gaze on the attendant. "Good evening." His voice came out flat and almost stone cold, yet he gave a polite bow of the head in greeting. "I believe I have an appointment--Damion Adair?" The attendant simply smiled, telling him to go right in before pointing towards another door.
Damion nodded in thanks towards the attendant before turning his back to the employee. His feet moved on autopilot, sending him straight up to the door before he paused. He lifted a hand up, rapping the door with his knuckles. He paused once more, listening for a voice or any other indication that someone was inside, before slowly opening the door.

"Come in," the woman spoke from behind her desk in a curt tone. She was a bigger lady, her pitch black hair was pulled into a tight bun, she wore thin-framed glasses and sported a remarkable red suit. When Damion walked in, she did not lift up her head. She steadily scribbled on a document, one of many piled up on her desk. With a relieved sigh she put down her utensil and stood. "You must be Damion," she walked over to the man, her heels clicking with every step, and extended her hand, "I'm your Ambassador, Ms. Anita Nguyen." Anita nodded and gestured for Damion to take a seat in the chair directly in front of her desk, she then took her place back in the executive seat. Her smooth, pale hands glided over a small stack of papers. She gently picked them up and tapped them on the desk for evenness. "So I've looked this over a couple of times," she went for her bottom desk draw and pulled out five pokeballs. "I think I have some options for you." Ms. Nguyen pushed each button individually until all five pokemon were out of their capsules. "First we have this lovely Growlithe. I do believe I read that you like canine Pokemon, you also think yourself quite loyal. So why not one of the most loyal around? Next we have Rhydon. This one's a bit stubborn, but its also really hardworking, which reminded me of you! Here we have a Cubone, I'm sure you know its story. You both have experienced tragedy in your life, sharing the pain with someone who understands might help! Shuckle's up next. Why? Well with your tough exterior and chewy insides, I think it's a bit obvious, hm? Finally we have Electrike, for no particular reason other than it's a canine and I don't have any other Pokemon in my office at the moment." Anita pulled out a large bag of items from behind the desk and slid them to Damion. "In there is an X-Gear, Data Log, First Aid Kit, Berry Sack, Spile, Canteen, Tool Bag, Mortar & Pestle, Weapon Sheathe, and a Quiver. Choose two of those to take with you." She made an impatient gesture with her hand. "Come on now, make your choices, I still have quite a few documents to sign!" Ms. Nguyen snapped her fingers and filtered through her desk once more. "I almost forgot! If you aren't too fond of the Pokemon I've chosen for you, may also choose one from this pamphlet." With a sigh she awaited Damion's answers.

Carefully closing the door behind him, the man stepped fully into the room. His gaze swept over the contents of the room, finding nothing particularly interesting to him. He settled his gaze on the woman behind the desk, and he waited by the door. When she stood up and moved away from her desk, coming towards him, Damion took a few steps forwards to meet the woman half way. He took the extended hand, giving it a good yet quick shake before releasing her hand. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Nguyen." He turned towards the chair was he was motioned to sit, obediently moving to the chair and sitting down. He kept his gaze focused on the ambassador, watching her every movements as she spoke.
As each Pokemon was released, he found himself sitting up straighter in his seat. The room quickly became crowded. Most of the Pokemon were rather small, but the Rhyhorn was a little large to be indoors. Regardless, it was a magnificent creature. He listened intently, giving a fraction of a smirk at the comment on the Shuckle, though it disappeared without a trace in a split second. His eyes scanned over the choices as the gears in his head began to turn. From what he read in books, all of these were formidable Pokemon. The Growlithe was loyal, like she said, and its evolution was a psuedo-legendary. In order to evolve, though, he would need a stone, but he would have to make sure that he was content with the level up moves of the Growlithe before even thinking about evolving it.
The Rhyhorn was strong as well, and its evolution was a force to be reckoned with. There was also the little detail about a Rhydon being able to surf, and that was both useful and confusing. Regardless, Rhyhorn was a choice worth considering and keeping as long as he kept it away from water, ice, and grass types. Even then, the Rhyhorn could learn moves to easily overcome those obstacles. The one that seemed to form a knot in his stomach--or was it his heart?--was the Cubone. She just had to mention that little detail about his life... She was right, though. It would give them something to bond over and cry about at night. A Cubone was also rather strong once trained properly, and it had a decent moveset.
Shuckle... Oh, Arceus. A Shuckle's most notable feature, stat-wise, is its defense. Everything else was rather... Weak, but they were useful when trained properly. He couldn't find himself hanging around something with that kind of face for too long, though. He could always throw it at someone, but he didn't want an abusive relationship with his Pokemon. That would reflect poorly on him. Then there was the Electrike. An electric hound was always a good addition to any team. Loyal hound, electric type moves. He was not well-versed with the ways of electric types, though. He might want to hold off on that unless he truly wanted a challenge.
Turning his attention to the woman, he nodded in understanding. He stood up from the chair so that he could look into the bag. Reaching in, he pulled out the X-Gear, something that would be useful only when he was able to get the chips. He then grabbed the first aid kit, figuring it would at least keep him patched up for now until he could gather up the money to buy more items. He would have instantly grabbed a spile, but he would need a canteen and a knife for that. He will just have to buy it later on. He looked over at the ambassador. "May I take the Growlithe and Rhydon?" He might as well start out at a horrible disadvantage to water types. Of well, he could make due for now.
ooc: main thought running through mind: hooker!damion with an arcanine behind him. /curls up in a corner.

Anita replied with a slight nod and withdrew the bag and all of the Pokemon. She rose from her seat to bring over the two that Damion had chosen. "Very well then," she carefully placed the Pokemon in his hand, "I expect you to take good care of them." Anita bent down beside her desk where a beautiful bamboo box sat. She fished her hand around for a few moments before standing up again.
In her hand were 6 pokeballs and a tiny case that held a programming chip. Anita handed them to the trainer. "This is a Holo chip. It will allow you to receive Holocasts as well as listen in to the Broadcasting network."
The ambassador quickly stepped to the door an d held it open. "Not that I want to rush you out or anything, but I do have much to do," she paused and actually let a smile cross her face, "and so do you."
"Your job as a Mercenary is to aid the people of Mi-aro. Take up jobs that they need doing." Ms. Nguyen then pointed to the north, "You might want to check out the Global Market then head to New Pallet." She finished with a nod, "I wish you the best, Damion."

Damion was quick to move the X-Gear over to the hand that held the first aid kit. With his free hand, he was able to take the Pokeballs handed to him with somewhat ease, glad that Pokeballs shrunk down when they were not in use. The man turned his upper body slightly to the side so he could access the messenger bag he had forgotten was hanging off of his shoulder. It was a wonder how the bag had not fallen off on his trek to the emissary, but he was not about to worry much on the topic right now. He was, after all, in a time crunch.
Carefully unlatching the bag while making sure he didn't drop anything, he slipped the two Pokeballs and the first aid kit into the bag. The X-Gear was then fitted onto his wrist. Dark eyes turned towards the woman once more as she was already handing him more items: Pokeball and a chip. Huh, so the X-Gear would be of use from the start after all. How nice. He placed the empty Pokeballs into his bag, and he placed the Holo Chip into a pocket in his bag so he would remember where he put it later. He was not well-versed with the X-Gear, so he would figure out how to install the chip after he left.
He turned towards the door, following the ambassador forwards. Head to the market and then to New Pallet? He could handle that. There were probably a lot of Adair boys and girls wondering what kind of Pokemon he had obtained. Damion nodded towards the woman, giving a fraction of a smile. "Thank you for everything, Ms. Nguyen." With that said, he left.
