~Strange sounds have been heard outside of New Pallet, The Ambassador urges trainers to be ready in case of an attack~
Summer is kicking in Port City! The temperature averages about 78°F (25°C) with a bit more rain than usual. Thunderstorms pop up every once in awhile, but overall, the sun is shining, the water's warm, and it looks like it'll be a great summer for the colonies.

he made sure he had gone home before even daring to adventure any farther than the port city laboratory. he spent the night at home after, of course, consulting his mother and nearly getting an earful about how he didn't need to worry so much. really, he did need to worry. he had ready over the recent studies of the world they lived on; it was terrifying. it was amazing. it was terrifyingly amazing. he didn't know exactly which emotion to go off of, but he had a hunch that his fight or flight instinct would be overturned the moment he saw something interesting on the road. perhaps that was why he was so hesitant, other than how he was pretty much taking an infant pokemon on the road.
he looked down at the togepi in his arms, carrying her far better than he had the day previous after his mother showed him how to properly hold an infant. a pokemon. how to hold something far too small for its own good. well, he could have gotten a joltik. he didn't know how to hold something that small without accidentally squishing it. oh, the horror of anyone who has accidentally stepped on their pokemon! ahem. now was not the time to be thinking about such things.
the togepi let out a huff, tugging on the man's shirt when his eyes began to glaze over in thought. he wasn't paying any attention to her, and she was not going to have it. yuuki blinked out of his daze, and a smile curled on his face as he flashed his teeth at the egg pokemon. the togepi returned the smile with a giggle. red eyes moved to the path ahead where he stood blocking the road leading into and out of port city. did he really want to do this? no, no he didn't. he wanted to go home and curl up in bed. but, he did not want to disappoint his mother, even though she seemed quite happy to have the togepi around during one of his last stays at his home.
"well... let's do this, shall we?" gulping away his nerves, he took a hesitant step forwards. "okay, that's far enough. let's go home." he was about to turn around on his heels before a shrill prrrrrrrrri! assaulted his ears, causing him to cringe. "fine, fine. we're going, see?" and he started down the path, shaking his head to rid his ears of the numb ringing caused by the egg's outburst. "just for that, though, i'm calling you omurice." the new name was only met with a bit of confusion before the togepi let out a merry giggle. good, she doesn't know what omurice was.
This week had been a seemingly peaceful one for the Winding Path. Only one or two trainers reported being attacked by hordes of Pokemon rather than the usual dozen plus. That being said, it was still quite dangerous, especially for a trainer whose only defense was a baby Pokemon with only one undependable offensive move. What was he thinking? But alas, the universe always rewards the daring.
As the man moved through the path, a few Pokemon skittered around here and there, none really stayed long enough to chase after or catch too much interest in. Perhaps the native wildlife between the two settlements was finally starting to understand that the humans were staying, and fighting them only uses up more energy that they needed to hunt and survive, besides, they weren't that much of a threat anyway. Right?
Well one creature in specific might disagree, namely the one that Yuuki just stepped on.
"Creee...." it whined in a shrill flutter. It apparently lacked the strength to remove the foot from its back and the hostility to defend itself. What could it be?

"prrii! prrrrii!"
"huh?"
the togepi's calls could have come sooner, long before he felt something underneath his foot. he stilled as his body grew rigid, and he had to lock the muscles in his arms so he didn't drop the togepi in some act of fear. there was something underneath his foot. not good, not good! with shock written over his face, he quickly lifted his foot off the ground and took a step back, hoping and praying to arceus that he hadn't just caused a creature to come close to its death simply because he wasn't looking where he was going. He hadn't even gotten too far away from the town border and he was causing someone trouble!
the raven haired man crouched down, placing the togepi down on the ground so he could observe whatever he just squished. the togepi was about to protest about being set down before she found something more interesting to do keep herself preoccupied with, namely the bag that had slipped off of the man's shoulder and onto the ground. "i am so, so, so sorry!" words flooded from his mouth despite the fact that the creature probably couldn't understand him at all. it was more that he was speaking to himself as if apologizing would make him feel any better for walking on a living creature.
he turned around to open his bag, shooing away the togepi for a moment so he could grab his x-gear, making sure the photo chip was in it. he took a quick picture of the creature, mainly so he could study the wounds a bit closer than how he was right now. he continued spewing out words of apology before he paused, knitting his brow together as he watched the... thing on the ground. "what are you, exactly?" it was hard to tell since he had, well, stepped on it. "do you know?" he glanced over at the togepi who was in the process of burying herself in his open bag. Hopefully she didn't eat all the food while she was in there. omurice didn't respond, instead flashing him a smile before continuing her handywork.
yuuki gave a sigh before focusing on the pokemon before him. "i would like to say nincada... but..." he groaned, sitting back. "i should have paid more attention to the few documents on the feral pokemon."

assumes since small, probably a bug due to vocals, and durant is too mean.
The trainer must have found the right document at one point because the Pokemon standing before - under - him was, in fact, a Nincada. Poor thing looked as if it was about to throw up. Of course, one couldn't really blame Yuuki for this mishap, the bug was in the middle of the pathway after all. Even to a trainer with excellent eyesight, its back would have only resembled a rock, and a tiny one at that.
Yes Nincada were usually quite small, but this one looked to be only about 6" tall, and could easily be held in two cupped hands. But now to more important questions like, why is it above ground in the first place? Nincada usually only live underground until they molt into Ninjask. The small, almost blind bug looked into the equally almost blind human with a distraught stare. It seemed almost completely powerless, and it was definitely not a threat. Feral Pokemon were supposed to be aggressive right?
Then, for the first time since his departure, a Pokemon actually appeared. It was a Buneary. The small brown creature was digging deeper into a nearby hole, with a periodical bounce or two. There was no rush to its actions, but it did seem as though it was enjoying itself.

yup, he was right. this was definitely a nincada. squinting his eyes as he leaned closer to try and get a better look, he couldn't help the urge to touch. it was so small! He reached out a with a pale hand, long fingers extending to run along the nincada's back. he thought better, however, and instead lowered his hand just about underneath the bug's head. if he suddenly touched it after so suddenly stepping on it, and considering the bug was blinder than he was, he was afraid he might get bitten by running his hands over its, uh, dented exoskeleton. yeah, that was a better way of putting it. so, do the dog thing and let them sniff you. at least he washed his hands before leaving the city.
he glanced up when he heard the shifting of dirt and soft thumping. curious, he left his hand by the nincada and looked for the source. what he saw was a rabbit's fluffy butt sticking out of the ground and an innocent little togepi toddling over to the wild Pokemon. oh dear. "o-omurice, g-get back here!" nothing. "if that's why you're out in the sunlight, then hopefully that rabbit likes bugs better than eggs." he cast a sheepish glance towards the nincada. "no offense." look at him, having a lovely one sided conversation with the bug he just stepped on when his egg was.. oh dear.
"prrrii!"
the togepi let out a shrill shriek of happiness, mimicking the bunneary's digging movements.
Togepi's mimic brought the bunny to a squeal. A playmate? Absopositivealutely! With that, the Pokemon hopped to the small egg and placed its paw on her head, then resumed its digging. It almost seemed like it was showing her how to do it! Of course Omurice received it well and did her best, but Buneary's pursed lips signified that it was expecting better results. After a few moments, the bunny Pokemon bounced with an idea. "Byeh Be!" it called as it picked the baby up. This particular bunny would've hit mid-thigh on a human, so its carriage of the child wasn't as refined as Yuuki's. Buneary then hopped off down the route, baby in hand.
Back in Yuuki's immediate vicinity, the bug gave the trainer's hand a good sniff. Why did this smell so good? Was it a flower? Maybe it was its mother? No that couldn't be it... A mate?? Nincada licked the hand as a final test, this resulted in a loud buzzing purr. This was immediately followed by the Pokemon curling its body around Yuuki's hand and latching on. Although it wasn't painful as the bug didn't dig its claws in or bite, there was nothing comfortable about it.
Buneary hopped off with Omurice! Nincada latched itself to Yuuki!

"ah--omurice!" he called out once more for the togepi to come back and get away from the wild hare, yet his call once more fell upon deaf ears. he should have worked on his 'bonding' with the infant before taking her out of the city. it would have been the smarter thing to do, and he wouldn't be in this mess right now. fear struck him, knotting his stomach, as the buneary picked up his pokemon. while no ill intentions seemed to be shown, he still couldn't just let the rabbit take off with his egg. the togepi didn't seem to mind, however, giving off her usual happy, playful cry as the rabbit took her down the path. hopefully not down the rabbit hole.
yuuki reached for his bag, digging his hand through the contents of the back for the egg's pokeball. "this should get her out of harm's wa-aah!" he had just found her capsule when the nincada latched onto his hand, causing him to drop the pokeball in his other hand out of surprise. lifting the captured hand off the ground, he was momentarily overtaken by fascination. nincadas liked hands? but not shoes? definitely not shoes. there was probably more to this, but he didn't have the time to be studying a bug when there was a kidnapping rabbit on the loose.
"i guess you're coming with me, little bug." he reached over and slung his bag over his right shoulder before nearly diving to grab the pokeball that had rolled off after being dropped. "hang tight." yuuki stood up and brushed some hair out of his face. it didn't help his vision any, but at least he could kind of make out the large brown smudge hopping away with his togepi. he took off down the path, keeping the nincada close to his chest so he didn't drop the poor bug. he already stepped on it, and dropping it would be a second offense.
meanwhile, the togepi was having a dandy time being carried around. she even started waving her small paws around with a wide smile on her face, though the glowing of her paws went unnoticed to the togepi.
Wings fluttered with every one of Yuuki's steps. Licks were also being gifted to the man's hand, accompanied by a sucking sound. Well, if nothing else was going right, at least Nincada was enjoying Yuuki's company.
On the front side of the chase, the Buneary was starting to lose speed and the distance between the two parties was diminishing. That being said, the Feral bunny had no suspicion that it was being pursued, so there was no urgency to its movement. Togepi, with her waving arms of glowing glory, didn't quite understand the consequences of her ability, or even that she had that ability.
The air in Yuuki's bubble grew cold. Very cold, in fact. But... wait. It was summer? Actually, even in winter Mi-aro's temperature never dropped as low as it felt now. The winds brought a strong push and carried - what was that? Was that... snow? It seemed so. Just as Buneary hopped through a bush with little Omurice, a thick gust of snow pelted Yuuki and the Nincada, and it didn't seem like it would let up anytime soon.
Buneary jumped through a bush! Omurice used Metronome - [?]

this was weird. this was really weird. he really did not enjoy the feeling of being licked, at least not on his hand. yet, despite his discomfort, he did not try to shake the nincada off. as soon as he retrieved his togepi, this would be a perfect time to study! after all, who else could say they stepped on a pokemon and then it willingly clung to their hand? hopefully no one else. it was disturbing. it was fascinating. it was disturbingly fascinating! ah, but, omurice.
"hey!" he called out as the distance between them and the buneary began to shorten. he reached out with the hand holding the pokeball, ready to return the togepi to her chambers, yet the rabbit bounced out of the way just before the red beam could shoot out. it collided with the ground before disappearing all together. yuuki skidded to a halt with noise of irritation escaping his throat. he was about to turn towards the bush the buneary disappeared through when he was hit by a cold wind, sending shivers up and down his spine.
his first instinct was to shield the nincada, keeping his back against the wind. then he noticed the white flakes in the sky. snow? "so a move..." he momentarily forgot the present situation as he tried to place the cold wind and snow with a name. "icy wind? perhaps. or blizzard? no, no, there would be more snow. icy wind seems suitable." he shook his head, trying to keep his back against the wind as he shuffled over to the bush the kidnapper hare disappeared through. "omurice!" he called out above the wind, listening for her unknowing giggles.
"toki...prrrrrri!"
he let out a sigh of relief when he heard the call. now, if only he could catch the rabbit or just have a clear shot to return his pokemon. that... probably wasn't going to happen if the wind didn't die down. at least he wasn't wearing his glasses; the snow would be sticking to the lens.
"Byeh.. Byeh.... Byenyeh!" Buneary giggled as it chose the finest materials from its stash to dress Omurice. It pet the egg's head as it draped the greenest of leaves over her shell with an added bonus of a flower necklace made from the most fragrant of weeds. From there. the bunny hopped back and examined the garment choices. A couple of hums and foot-thumps later, the small creature dove back into its bush and popped out with a ripe, rubbery, purple berry and plopped it on Omurice's crowned head. Yes! Togepi was ready for her close-up.
At that time, Buneary finally noticed the Icy Wind and the trainer stuck caught in it. Surely a Feral Pokemon with ears that big would have heard the human by now, it seems the egg was just too much of a distraction. The bunny's eyes narrowed as it charged through the bush to get a good look at the trainer. Why was he following them? What did he want? And really, where were his manners? Not even announcing his presence. A glow began to illuminate the tips of the Pokemon's ears as it threw its paws up to make a wall between Omurice, the bush, and Yuuki.
Apparently, nobody was gonna touch Buneary's baby.
.5 Finder SP for guessing Icy Wind! Buneary readies a Pound attack.
