The woman was startled by the appearance of the trainer. Well, that's what happens when you are busy reading on the job, but that was an issue for a later time. Blushing, the receptionist quickly checked the log and nodded.
"Yep! You can head on through, Ms. Nguyen is ready for you."
A long hallway would follow before two large oak doors would swing open and Sarah would find herself in the wide office of the Ambassador. The heavy set woman was seated at her desk, finishing some file of some kind. At the sound of the door closing, the woman looked up and gave a short smile to the girl.
"Ms. Jenny I presume? I expected you a bit earlier, but no matter. Please, come in and take a seat," Anita said, pointing to one of the soft cushioned chairs that sat by her desk.
Nguyen quickly finished what she was doing and slid the file folder back into its place in her desk drawer.
"Now then, you are here for your starter, is that correct?" she asked, pulling a different file out. If Sarah looked carefully, she would see that it was a file on her.
"I have to say, I am impressed that a new generation of Jenny is eager to make her mark on the world. I am happy to have you under my tutelage. As much as I'd like to sit and chit chat, I am quite busy and so we shall proceed. With your interest in exploring, I have selected Pokemon that I believe would fit you and your anticipated adventures," she said, placing five poke balls on her desk.
"Due to the space of my office, I will not release each one, but here are their pictures," she said, handing Sarah five cards.
"Just in case you've never seen one of these, I shall tell you a bit about each. First up, Ponyta. Not only a capable battler, but considering how much open road and unexplored territory there is here, a Pokemon like that would be helpful in terms of getting around, especially if you can get it to evolve into a Rapidash."
"Next we have Scyther. Bug type, very useful for clearing land while exploring, as well as taking samples. Not to mention the aggressive nature of the bug will keep wild Pokemon at least at bay, especially if you keep its scythes sharp and its reflexes even sharper."
"Moving along, we have Electrike. Electric canine type Pokemon, they are very loyal and prove to be excellent guard dogs. In addition to this fact alone, their stored electricity is perfect for paralyzing intended wild quarry, or even fending off muggers and robbers."
"The next Pokemon is called Sandile. A dark/ground type, these Pokemon are not only good in a pinch with battling, but are proficient at moving around under ground, which could prove useful for collecting samples or digging for treasure, especially in the mines."
"Finally, we have Skiddo. Much like Ponyta, Skiddo and its evolution Gogoat are fantastic pack animals. They can handle a high amount of weight and are very light on their feet, which is good for climbing steep surfaces.
As I said, I picked these with the opinion that they will help the most. You also have the option of picking one of the standard grass/fire/water options from the old world. Please make your decision. You are allowed one starting partner, so make your choice carefully," she said, writing in Sarah's file folder.
