Alistair is taller that average, at 6'1". His thin frame shows slight definition, but easily betrays his lack of physical strength and he weighs in a bit underweight at 168 lbs. His long legs make for long strides, which gives his movement a quality of lazy swiftness. His skin is not especially pale, but he still sunburns easily so sunscreen is a must if he wants to avoid looking like a walking lobster.
Alistair is a young man, and his face certainly does not lend him any appearance of maturity. Large green eyes center his face, seeming to reflect his curious and observatory nature. His ears are normal sized, and despite his insistence they are close enough to the same size that the naked eye would never tell the difference. clothing
everyday (Ignore Face Claim clothes in preference to this description.) Alistair spends a bit more money on clothes than is practical, preferring to look his best when he can. If he is in town he dresses with a vest or jacket, depending on the weather or his mood. He has a couple of thin furfa shirts that he keeps in pristine condition, a variety of slacks made of a wool blend and some others that are lighter. He has shoes that range in style from sneakers to wing tips, and they will possibly be the possession he most regrets having to leave behind on his travels. However, to travel he knew he would need clothes he could get dirty or damaged. He sports one of his older jackets for any cold weather, and other than that he tends to dress himself in jeans and tee shirts. personality
Alistair sees himself as a native of Mi-aro, given that he was born there. He has strong opinions about the constant desire to make this world like the last one with Pokeballs, trainers, and so forth. While not a pure naturalist, he thinks that the key to surviving here is understanding nature and where we can fit into it and adapt it to our own ends. He typically bases his judgement of something as unnatural on a general feeling which he fleshes out later. After all, there is so much that is unknown here.
This works will with his thirst for knowledge. Ignorance is the quickest way to make mistakes that cannot be undone. He is curious about how things work, and was not going to sit idly by and let others figure it out for him. Alistair quickly learned that there is a limit to what can be learned by practice and reading. Particularly, Alistair's fascination focuses on mutations, swarms and other phenomenon that did not occur in the old world. Field science called to him, and he feels he has learned all he can from inside a building.
Growing up in the harsh environment of Mi-aro has left Alistair a bit cold. While he has no love of violence, he is not shy around it. Death does not hold the same shock it should, and his fascination and insistence on understanding pokemon means fully understanding their biology. One step in this is autopsies, and another is experimentation. Of course, Alistair has never truly bonded with a Pokemon, so it will be interesting to see what effect this has on his chilly disposition.
As far as people go, Alistair is sociable enough. He is courteous to others and will typically help them if the opportunity arises. There is a part of him that is excited at the prospect of meeting so many new people as a traveling trainer though on the surface he tries to act like it is all about the science. He often tries to hide his inner enthusiasm, but sometimes it shines through often to the surprise and amusement of others as much as to the embarrassment of himself.

the backstory
According to all studies, traveling through the rift did not have any noticeable effect on the yet to be born Alistair. However, while he might have not been biologically affected the impact of being brought over in the womb is clear on the man. His mother died in childbirth a month after, and Alistair was raised entirely by his father who had been a trainer before. He was quick to volunteer his pokemon, but less so after the fatal savagery of the local pokemon became clear. As a child Alistair was no stranger to struggle as the first settlement was being established, though by the time he truly started forming memories it already was a true settlement. Attacks were frequent, and one of his father's pokemon died fighting when Alistair was seven. It hit his father hard, but he kept on trying his hardest to protect their new world.
Alistair grew up as normally as would be possible given the circumstances. He was a rather energetic child, but as he grew his interests shifted to more intellectual pursuits. His father was a little unsure how to handle his interests, but he was encouraging. Alistair studied as much as possible, truly enjoying the process of learning.
Due to shortages, Alistair never really bonded with pokemon that much. It was something his father always regretted, but his were always needed elsewhere. Alistair tends to see pokemon more as the feral animals that attack them than friends and allies. He bears no hatred of them but perhaps sees them as important due to what they can do rather than who they are. He is still excited to receive his pokemon and assignment today, so he can truly start affecting the world he grew up in.
He moved out on his own a few years ago, though he still visits his father regularly. A life of action has left the man more aged than he should be, but he is more than capable and most have not forgotten where his injuries came from and are grateful. Alistair knows his father will be well, and is excited to go out on his own. If he is true to himself, he is more scared than he cares to admit.
