Age: 26
Gender: Male
Orientation: Pansexual
Profession: Merchant - Type 1 (established)
Occupation: Runs a Pokemon daycare/nursery
Mentor: Rocket Man
Appearance:
Standing at 5'8" with a rather slim frame, it's a pretty common thing among Ciel's friends to pick at how much smaller he is compared to his younger brother, Micah. Honestly, it seems that the only traits Ciel shares with his brother would be their golden eyes and dark skin, as in most every other aspect, they're completely different. Even when relaxed, Micah's posture is focused and elegant, never allowing himself to be caught off guard. He moves about in a similar manner, his expression often fixed in a calm, but tired smile.
While he's obviously a man, Ciel's slender jawline and low cheekbones give him a rather feminine appearance. His creamy white hair and clear golden eyes resembling two pools of amber are contrasted by his smooth caramel skin. His hair falls messily to his shoulders and is often tied up when he's working to keep it out of his way.
Everyday Clothes Image
Ciel prefers more traditional, but comfortable clothing. He'll wear more casual clothing when he needs to go out and about in the town, but when he's working in the Daycare, he likes to be able to relax. He likes outfits with bright colors and a bit of contrast, often with patterns of some sort.
Pack Image
Ciel's pack is fitted to be the best of use in carrying eggs. He has a separate, more tattered, bag that he uses when shopping or whatnot, but the bag he's seen with most often usually has an egg cozied up inside, as well as some care/grooming tools. He takes very good care of the egg bag to make sure it is never so much as dirtied.
Personality:
Soft spoken and preferring to do things at his own steady pace, Ciel's personality differs greatly from that of his brother. He's a very kind person, and about as non-bias as someone can get. He doesn't care about rumors or reputations, he will greet everyone with the same smile and caring attitude. At least, until they do something to wrong himself or those he cares for. Ciel's relaxed demeanor does not mean he is weak or a pushover. When it comes to getting things done properly for those in his care, he has the willpower and fortitude of a Tauros and will not stand for anyone trying to get in the way of his work. With the kindness he usually shows everyone, anyone who has messed up enough to be scolded by Ciel will be feeling the shame for life.
Ciel can be best described as motherly. Perhaps from caring for his sick parents until their death and then caring for his younger brother, it has become only natural for him to look out for those in need. Now that his brother has since grown and gone off on his own, he has taken to caring for Pokemon, instead, running his own Daycare/Nursery. He spends most of his time with the Pokemon and eggs in his care, having dedicated himself entirely to it. It's nearly impossible to distract him from what he deems important.
Likes:
Ciel generally likes most things, but he has a well known soft spot for children and the elderly. And of course, Pokemon, too. When he has some free time, Ciel enjoys a bit of botany, trying to grow his own berries. He hasn't much of a green thumb, but at least he's getting better at it with each botched attempt.
Dislikes:
Ciel is very protective of the Pokemon in his care and people that he care about, so anyone or thing that threatens them is immediately put on his bad side. That aside, he also has a certain hatred for bitter or sour foods as well as loud noises, being rushed, or rough activities. He prefers things stay quiet and calm.
Backstory:
Ciel was the first born to a poor family just getting their life started on some rural land. Even with the earth decaying all around them, they were a good and happy family for a few years, managing to survive with what little there was. Ciel had just turned four, when his father's illness started. Too much time spent working in the rotten terrain and polluted air had become too much for his body, but as they had little choice in the matter, he continued working through his illness for another three years until he fell bedridden. Ciel and his mother did their best to care for him in this time, but within the week he passed away.
It was only a couple more weeks after this that Ciel's newly widowed mother realized she was pregnant. This only gave her more strength to continue working hard to make a decent life for her son and the one on the way. There wasn't much of a decent life to be had on such a dead world, but they were determined to try. The small family had been hearing whispers of the portal to a brand new world for years. It was a common topic of conversation, but was always treated as something of a story or legend to keep their minds off of how bad everything really was. No one was sure whether it was true.
Several months into her pregnancy, Ciel's mother started showing symptoms of the illness that had taken her husband from them. While devastated by the realization, she was determined to keep going for her children. Her biggest fear was that the illness might spread to the baby... But thankfully, her fears were put to rest, as a few months later she managed to give birth to a healthy, though small, Micah. Their mother struggled to get back on her feet after this, but eventually managed, working hard through her illness and fragile state just as her husband had. She knew she wouldn't last long, and she didn't know what would come of her children when she passed, but frankly, she didn't want to think about it. And so on she went.
Within a year, their mother was bedridden from the stress and illness, and Ciel was left to care for her and his baby brother. He was only eight at the time, but it was something he'd already gradually gotten used to. Forced to grow up at a young age, he spent almost every hour of every day either tending to one of them, or out desperately scavenging for food. Of course, he would always carry his baby brother with him when he left the house. This went on for another year or so, with Ciel averaging at 10 hours of sleep per week, before his mother finally passed away. Feeling broken and lost, Ciel couldn't even bring himself to give his mother a burial. Instead, he decided it was time to chase a dream. Gathering the miniscule amount of supplies they had in the house and an old map, Ciel picked up his confused little brother and hurried out the door.
To this day, Ciel is unsure how they survived the trip, if not sheer willpower. The journey took two years. Two long years of constant walking, stealing, running, getting lost, and a lot of fear. By the time they actually arrived at the supposed location of the portal, the child was sure he was hallucinating it. It was only the fact that Micah was absolutely terrified of it that convinced him it was actually there. It took a good few hours to convince his little brother to step onto the portal with him, but once he'd managed and they arrived in the new world, it was done. They were barely more than filthy skeletons at this point, but they were alive with a better life ahead of them.
It wasn't an easy transition for the siblings. Everything was entirely different from everything they had ever known. For a long time they had difficulty trusting the people just trying to help them, and would just barely let anyone close enough to give them food. It was several months before they relaxed their guard and finally began to actually look and behave like children. Within a couple of years, Micah had completely left his past behind and transitioned into a normal rambunctious child, but Ciel couldn't. To this day, he never truly drops his guard, as if he expects to one day have it all ripped out from under him.
Ciel wasn't sure what to do with himself, with Micah out of his constant care. He began filling the void by looking for babysitting jobs. Eventually someone asked if he could look after their Pokemon for a day, and so it began. Micah found he absolutely loved looking after these Pokemon. And when someone asked if he could take care of an egg, he found he loved that, too. It was all the perfect activity for him to put all of his effort into. As he was still young, he initially did it all for free at anyone's request, but as he grew and realized it was difficult to get the resources needed to care for these Pokemon, he began working out prices.
By the time Ciel turned 21, he'd ended up turning his home into an official Pokemon Daycare, and he couldn't have been happier. He's kept it up for a good few years now and is still as happy with his chosen profession as ever. When he'd first started trying to figure out prices, he'd gone to Rocket Man for help. It was probably that decision that led to his success.
