Sera stands at 5'5" with a lean, strong build and moderate curves. She has a pale complexion and long straight orange-ish pink hair that falls to the middle of her chest. She has a rather soft face with large cinnabar-pink eyes. clothing
everyday Anything form-fitting. In town she tends to show a little skin with low-cut tops and shorts or mini-skirts and high stockings; in the wild, she covers up more for protection. She tends to favor blacks, whites, browns, and reddish tones. She has a red-riding-hood-esque cloak she wears fairly often. | formal Formal attire ranges from pretty simple to rather elaborate. She owns about half a dozen different fancy dresses and may occasionally find excuses to wear them that may or may not even be legitimate excuses when she gets in particular moods. |

personality
In the public eye, Sera usually seems like a pretty sweet girl. In fact, it's not terribly uncommon for her to come off as a little bit ditsy despite being very intelligent. (If you got to know her extremely well, she might let you in on the little secret that this is faked, though in truth only about half of it is, and she convinces herself that the genuine airhead moments are just her being really, REALLY good at her act.) She likes to project an air of innocence and refinement, a 'proper lady' even in a world where such things are defunct, though still willing to get her hands dirty and pitch in when there's labor to be done. In doing so, she occasionally pretends she's not as physically strong as she actually is in order to get a little help, but it's rare for her to shirk work entirely. She does her best to carry her own weight-- so its not her fault that she's a lightweight, right?
She loves studying probably a little more than even leisure reading, as she believes knowledge is power (although she does have a soft spot for fairy tales both in their most idealistic and most gruesome forms). Although she has decided a mercernary's path is the most open and provides the most opportunities for an entry level trainer, she would not at all mind shifting to research someday when she's more secure in her ability, or perhaps even following her parents's footsteps and becoming a world explorer (which, you know, in her opinion constitutes a form of research, but she didn't make the classification rules and figures it's a minor thing to bother disputing).
Sera adores Pokemon, though her way of showing it might seem a little unorthodox to many older trainers. She can even understand domestic ones- a hereditary skill, though hers is not nearly as strong as most of her ancestors. It does not translate nearly so well to ferals, though she can still get very vague generalized ideas and their overall emotions. Rather than seeing all Pokemon as Friends equal to or greater than humans as a result, however, she- well she still sees them as pretty on par with humans, but views most humans as beneath her, too, so there's that. She values respect more than affection, meaning she doesn't care too much what a Pokemon is like in any regard as long as it recognizes that she is its master. She is not a cruel master, and will try to ensure all her attendants are well cared for and at least relatively content, but she will not stand for her rule being questioned.
When this happens, or other things set her off, Sera can be just a teeeeeny bit.. much. (Actually, she can be a little much in general, but especially so and in more negative ways if she's slighted!) The shell of light encases a small but rather violent darkness, and when it peeks through she's really not afraid to fistfight immediate offenders or hatch vicious plots given the time. If you have wronged her and not seen recompense, keep waiting, because she does not tend to let go of things easily. A lasting grudge after the score has been 'settled' may or may not occur, but the settling will come. In all things, revenge and life alike, Serafeyna is extremely enduring and nonsensically stubborn. When she sets her mind to something, either she must be distracted by something she thinks sounds even better (which is not 'giving up' but 'changing plans to better reflect new knowledge of the situation'), or she's going to see it through, no matter how long it takes.

the backstory
Once upon a time, right around 100 years ago, there was a man in the Kalos region of PokeEarth named Fleur De Lysandre. Lysandre foresaw the selfish ways of humans and sought to end it. In order to ensure the earth would have plenty of resources for everyone, he tried to reduce the world's population to a small handful of 'elite' by harnessing the power of two Legendary Pokemon. Using an ancient weapon, he could drain the life of potentially countless people and Pokemon alike. He was stopped by a small group of teenage heroes, but not before managing to fire one blast of the weapon. The result was the destruction of his entire base and the weapon itself.
Lysandre dropped off the face of the earth for a long time, but eventually he would resurface, with plenty of time to witness exactly the sort of downfall he'd foreseen. He watched, too empty from his defeat to be properly outraged, as the world's resources continued to diminish and the planet continued to be abused. They had wanted this. Fought for this. And he would let them see for themselves. He'd just never let them live it down. He told them. His eventual children would grow up hearing the stories over and over of how he'd told them. As would his grandchildren. And even his great-grandchildren; Sera is among these. His great-great-great-great-great-grandchildren will probably be hearing the by-then-ancient stories of how PokeEarth was lost because no one would listen when he told them. For you see, there was one very important side effect of the ancient weapon: those hit by it directly become immortal.
---
Decades after the world deteriorated, Lysandre had holed his family up in his own personal sanctuary; he was, after all, descended from royalty, and his estate reflected this. Here they had greenhouses and vast stores of canned foods and fresh water among other things important to survival. They also strove to hang onto a tiny ounce of culture, because just because the world was going to shit didn't mean their palettes had to. However, not every member of extended family stayed. Here or there one would leave for various reasons.
One of Fleur's granddaughters, Roxanne Lysandre, left when she was pretty young declaring that dying or not she was going to enjoy the world while it lasted, not just stay holed up waiting for death to come. On her travels, she met a young man by the name of Legato Harmonia and fell in love. The two trekked across the war-ravaged wastelands together for years. They dodged many close calls and overcame all sorts of odds, managing to forage just well enough to survive. They were both often hungry, but it was a small price to pay for their private little adventure. When the Legend Portal was opened, not only were they pretty far from the action, but they felt they still had exploring left to do here. There was hardly anything left but ruins, but to the two of them, a lot of those ruins were fascinating, and the views were all theirs for the taking.
Several years passed after the portal before the unthinkable happened. In the ruins of an old Kalosian city, a tower they were exploring collapsed, and Legato was killed. Roxanne was devastated, made worse by the fact that she was currently 5 months pregnant. She considered running through the portal, leaving behind the world that took her Legato, but in truth it had always terrified her. The portal was one-way, or so they said, but since no one could come back, they had nothing but words to say that the people who stepped inside weren't just incinerated. The words of a GOD, but still only words.
So instead, she found herself running home, begging and pleading to be allowed back inside. The family never had left for the portal, very likely having similar doubts, as well as having Grandpa Lysandre over their heads constantly reminding them that this was the fate that the citizens of this world had chosen for it, and insisting that if the planet had to die that they at least do it the honor of staying by its side to the very end. And that end was certainly closer. Even the exceedingly-meticulously-controlled greenhouses were struggling to keep anything growing, and other supplies were getting low. But it was home, and for all that she was now the black sheep and worse-still for adding not one but soon two more mouths to feed to an already struggling microcommunity, she was still grateful to be near people she loved and have any form of comfort through familiarity during this emotional struggle.
Roxanne was certain to pick a name she thought would appeal to Grandpa Lysandre (which was to say, very noble-sounding and at least partially Kalosian) when the baby was born in hopes that it would put a dent in her debt as she attempted to earn his full forgiveness, but she did keep her beloved's surname. Honoring him at least in that small regard was even more important to her.
Growing up, Sera was not the most beloved creature around the compound, what with having added extra stress and people seeing Roxanne as having gotten 'special treatment' by being allowed back in, even if she did do her best to contribute. It never got worse than occasional sneers and snide comments or being treated like a general nuisance by some of the older family, but Sera certainly noticed. The main people not to act this way were her aunt Hester and cousin Morgan; uncle Ulrich could be all right sometimes too, but he was a bit of a hardass. Sera never fully understood it herself, but in actuality Ulrich and Hester had accidentally had Morgan just a few years before Sera was born (nearly a decade after their other children and after the Portal opened), and until Roxanne came home they'd been the primary focus of all the scandalous whispers, so Hester especially had been rather grateful to have her around.
Of course, between this and the fact that she and Morgan were the only ones even close to their age, they quickly became very good friends, and occasionally the resident mischief-making hellions. (You know, if things like using some of the canned foods as building blocks to build a miniature city without actually hurting any of the cans can be considered hell-raising.) Morgan was also the only person to believe that Sera could actually understand Pokemon, although Roxanne was always particularly evasive about it beyond just the 'oh what cute pretend' reaction the other adults had. In truth it was an ability that ran in Legato's family, at least as far back as Sera's great-great-grandfather if not farther, but Roxanne didn't want to admit Sera had inhereted it. After all, if Legato hadn't sworn he'd heard some lonely Pokemon crying out that day.... Roxanne could scarcely have been more relieved when Sera stopped talking about it (at least to anyone but Morgan).
Sera never understood just how hard their life was, for she'd never known anything else even second-hand, but she did overhear increasing whispers and later loud cries about a "portal" and a "new land", and on a regular basis would hear Great-Grandpa Lysandre's raving about why they weren't going yet and subsequently how this was all everyone's fault for not listening to him. To the youngest, those who had never known such a world, he would also tell stories of a whole planet greener than their greenhouses at the height of season. Sera found them fascinating, and made note to do her best always to listen to Lysandre.
However, finally the season came and went that not a single thing grew. The number of lonely little sprouts that had tried could be counted on one hand, and not one of them lasted more than a few days before they withered and died. When not even one crop could be raised to maturity, even Fleur De Lysandre could finally admit that it was time to go. He never completely lost hope that there was still life out there somewhere, but the planet was far too big to seek it out, and he no longer had a renewable way to keep his family alive here. There was canned food left, but that would only last so long, and they could keep trying to plant their seeds, but they would far better serve more people if planted in Mi-aro's fertile soil. So they packed up what they had left and at long last made the trek through the portal.
Mi-aro was beautiful, and Sera still has never been so overwhelmed in all her life as when she first saw it. The largest Pokemon in the world or the most traumatic tragedy simply would never be able to compare to the shock of an entire planet filled with life and color she never realized could even exist in nature and hundreds if not thousands of people after knowing no one but her family all these years. The child loved everything about their new home and took to it just like the seeds they'd brought.
Over time, though, she and Morgan began to drift apart. They no longer lived under the same roof, with the family having fanned out. Sera didn't always especially like people, but when she did she reeaally did, while Morgan had become more shy. Each became pretty absorbed in studies, both homeschooled and learning at every opportunity (or at least Sera took every opportunity; honestly she stopped paying attention to whether or not Morgan was even there so she couldn't tell you) at the local lab, soaking up anything she could about Pokemon and colony life alike; Roxanne took to being a Survivalist pretty well, and did her best to offer her daughter tips in that regard. Their personalities started veering in wildly different direction, and rivalries turned into more outright clashing until they barely spoke anymore.
Sera was also admittedly a tiny bit spoiled, at least by comparison to average colony children. Being her mother's only child and only thing she had to remember her father by, Sera was a little bit coddled and quickly realized that she could avoid or minimize her work by doing nice things for her mother or feigning not feeling well. This didn't tend to work so well on anyone else, at least not specifically, but it did develop into a penchant for manipulating others in general. In addition, between this and stories among her family about how they were once nobility, how even Great-Grandpa Lysandre was once an extremely powerful and influential man, she got it in her head that authority suits her. She understands WHY there's no particular ruler at the moment, but as the civilizations grow and become restless and as more stragglers come through the Portal, she imagines a need will arise. Thus, here on her 21st birthday, she is leaving behind her job doing general labor around town to venture out and start making a name for herself. Naturally, her mother worries, even talked her out of doing so for an extra year after her 20th birthday, but has finally accepted that Sera has the same explorer's spirit that she and Legato shared. Thus, she simply prays that she has taught her daughter well, and with warm wishes saw her off to get her first Pokemon of her very own.
