| It was late in the afternoon as Gwen made her way toward Port City's Emissary. She could only ignore the teensy bit of frustration she had with herself, let the feelings simmer and die beneath the surface so not so much as a hint of showed in how she looked or the way she spoke. There was no need for frustration after all, it was just what people became when they reached a dead end in their problem solving. Getting frustrated over a problem never solved it, so what use was it really?
Besides, it had been more of her own deadline she had missed. The ambassador hadn't actually given her a real time limit. She might have passed the mission onto someone else if she took too-too long, of course, but Gwen was sure that Anita would have given her a specific time frame if she needed it done quickly. Walking through the doors, Gwen approached the front desk where the receptionist was stationed. "I'm here to see Ambassador Nguyen regarding some more captured anorith." She stated.

With a nod the desk assistant made her way to the Ambassador's office, knocked, opened the door, and gestured for Gwen to enter.
"Gwendolyn!" the Ambassador exclaimed as the young woman walked through her door. With a smile Anita waved for the girl to take a seat. "It's good to see you again!" she chirped. There was something oddly elated about the Ambassador today, could it have had something to do with the beautiful new Anorith vase that sat on her desk? Either way, she was in a really good mood, so just enjoy it. "Have you brought me more Anorith?"
She gave Gwen a moment to respond and then nodded. "Perfect!" With that she dove into her black hole of a desk drawer and pulled out some old-world silver, a few purple berries, five more white pokeballs, and what looked like a nicely drawn treasure map. Anita offered the reward to the mercenary with a nod before she continued.
"As promised, I have a special mission for you." Her finger traced the line on the map that led to just off the western coast of the continent. "Our colony is growing. Fast. And we're running out of territory to expand on." She allowed her finger to tap the spot where it stopped. "There are rumors of an island off the coast. Now you might be wondering 'What's the big deal? It's just an island?' Well, here's the thing, islands often bear resources not found on the mainland, and if the island is in good sized waters, then we'll actually be able to build a harbor of sorts there and explore the coastline of the entire continent." Anita took a moment to ponder whether or not she should explain why Port City's boats couldn't do that, but decided that the information was irrelevant for the brief.
"So, why am I telling you this?" Her hand pointed to Gwen's pokeballs. "Because not only do you posses the right Pokemon to make it across the gulf, but I also believe you're capable of fighting off the danger that you'll face getting there." Eyes searched the top of the desk. An 'aha!' escaped the Ambassador as she pressed a button that called up a hologram that mapped the discovered areas of Mi-aro by altitude. "Now as you can see, New Pallet is settled on the top of a high hill. Port City's lowest point is the shore, but there's nothing really located on the steep slope up to the city. However," she pointed to the area between New Pallet and what is believed to be the coast of Mi-aro, "the altitude here is much lower. No one has traversed this area because it's seems to be some type of forest, but that's all we can see from New Pallet. No one knows what else is down there, and no one seems to have the guts to find out. But one thing's for sure, you would definitely find a plentiful amount of new Pokemon to challenge."
Anita locked eyes with Gwen. "Know that this will be a dangerous mission if you choose to accept it, but it's one that will pay heavily and greatly benefit the colony." A quiet chuckle before she resumed, "You might even learn a few things about yourself!" With a smile she finally offered the question, "So Ms. Gwendolyn Steele, are you willing to go on this quest?"

| Gwen entered Anita's office, and today the Ambassador was looking considerably less stressed than she had the first time she met her. "It's good to see you again too Ambassador Nguyen, and of course." Gwen responded back cheerfully, and she stashed away the items offered to her in her bag, being careful not the jostle the egg that was still nestled inside it's pouch too much as she did so.
There was an extra item she wasn't expecting though, some form map. She kept it out and looked it over as the Ambassador went into explaining about rumors of an island just off the coast. Gwen nodded thoughtfully as Anita when over the possibilities of new resources being found on the island. "Now that you mention it, I met someone yesterday who had found an unusual berry on the beach, and it's possible it might have come from an island and washed up here." She said. Unfortunately though, Anya had wanted to keep the berry, so Gwen didn't actually have the item to show Anita.
As the Ambassador began to go further into what she actually wanted Gwen to do, Gwen stayed silent as she tried to figure out which 'pokemon' she had, that the Ambassador thought was going to get her across the gulf. The only water or flying type she presently had was her still very feral Ducklett, and it was far too small to carry her in the water or air for that matter, and though it might have better luck upon evolving, that wasn't likely to happen any time soon. Ignis would be able to fly her across once he evolved to Charizard, but he had only just evolved to Charmeleon recently, and it could be a while before he evolved again.
Soon though, the topic changed to the as of yet unexplored area along the steeper edge of the hill leading up to New Pallet. If she had to pass through there, it would probably provide her ample opportunity to train Ignis and perhaps he would evolve by the time they needed to fly over water. "That certainly sounds enticing." Gwen said at the thought of new pokemon. She actually had been thinking of going out into unexplored territory herself. She had even gathered some supplies for it earlier. It was nice that this mission coincided quite well with her plans.
Gwen held Anita's gaze as the ambassador laid out the risks and rewards for this mission. Though Anita chuckled, Gwen still kept a straight face, and nodded. "I gladly accept this mission" She said with a confident smile. "If that's all, I think I should get my preparations in order as soon as possible." She said. Gwen would need a few more supplies before she headed out, and it probably wouldn't hurt to do a little more training with some of her pokemon this evening. It would probably be best to start this mission in the morning.

Anita gave a strong nod before standing up behind her desk. She offered her hand to Gwen to seal the deal. "Be careful out there Gwen. And do not hesitate to call me if you need anything." After shaking hands, the Ambassador made her way to the door that she then held open for the Mercenary. She allowed a determined grin to cross her face as she finished with, "Good luck, from all of Port City to you."

| Gwen reached over the desk, and shook the ambassador's hand firmly. "I'll let you know if I do." She said. Of course, she hoped it wouldn't come to that. Asking for help certainly wasn't one of her strong suits, and it would certainly feel like a failure if at whatever point she did end up having to call for assistance.
With that, Gwen followed Anita to the door, nodding to her as the Abassador gave her well wishes. "I'll do my best." She said, with a calm but confident smile before making her way through the lobby and back into town.
