 MORGAN Morgan nodded and quickly dug into her bag for her Pokéballs. She should have had these right at hand! Oh, well, she found them soon enough. She took them in her hand and blew on them, as one does on dice, and tossed them out. The Hoothoot and Shuppet materialized in moments, with Morgan saying, "Raptor, Hypnosis on one Ekans; Mal, Screech at the other!" Okay, maybe shouting wasn't strictly necessary, but... heat of the moment. That was her excuse, and she was sticking to it.

The snake cried out as Mal screeched in its tiny ears, giving it a wobbly, unbalanced reaction. It winced in upset before disappearing underground. The other's eyes snapped to the ghost, "Sssaah!" it shouted as it dove under the bunnies, knocking them down, and slithered right up to Hoothoot. A sound of summoning energy came from the Ekans whose mouth was open and facing Mal from the side. It seemed to not even notice Hoothoot, or its attack for that matter, as it screeched again before releasing a flurry of poisonous shards of energy from its gaping mouth.
Hm, there was something odd about this scenario. Had anyone ever even encountered Ekans on this route?
Hoothoot's attack missed!
Shuppet's screech caused Ekans 2 to bury itself
Ekans 1 used poison sting on Mal!

MORGAN Unfortunately for Morgan, she wasn't quite familiar with the ins and outs of which Pokémon were found where. Instead, she just huffed at the digging Ekans--that probably was actually literally the Dig attack, wasn't it. Well... it wasn't really battle-kosher but these were wild, so-- "Mal, float...up. Just go up! Away from the ground! And Raptor, maybe try to hover?" ...Yeah, with those wings, the Hoothoot was actually more likely to be hit by the Ground attack than the Shuppet, wasn't he. "And, uh, Peck the visible one. Mal, you--Night Shade, from the air!" Morgan took so long with her orders that Mal had taken the Poison Sting and...become poisoned by it. Her normal smile turned upside-down as she floated and attempted the Night Shade. Blech. Raptor also tried to do as he was told, though his tiny wings didn't carry him very high.

It was as he was standing there watching the battle transpire that it hit Jasper. Ekans weren’t common on this path were they? No, he had been up and down it now for too many years to count, and not once had he seen one. Eyes widening, Jasper tensed. What were they even doing there? Why were they there? Jasper bit his bottom lip, his hand already in his pocket ready to fish out Aura’s pokeball and release her should things not go well. He had at least enough confidence in Morgan not to intrude on a battle just yet, but he was still left to wonder just what these particular pokemon were doing there. |

Sliding at an unbelievable speed, the Ekans slipped behind Hoothoot. The bird Pokemon's attack ended up just barely grazing the snake's rattle. Its face, it was disturbing. Eyes flashing red and lost of any emotion save hunger. As Raptor's beak touched the snake, it quickly coiled around the Pokemon and began to squeeze. Ekans seemed to cackle as it its new found prey squirmed. Brr. Sadistic Pokemon are creepy.
Mal's attack was completely useless. The submerged snake was completely out of the picture. Then, a rumble from behind the trainers, and a purple tail exploded from the ground. It wrapped around Dr. Stone's leg, the tail was much bigger than his leg, and started pulling the doctor into the ground with it. Oy this was not good. Nope nope.
Ekans 1 was just barely hit by Peck.
Ekans 1 used Wrap on Raptor!
Mal's attack on Ekans 2 missed.
Another tail wrapped around Dr. Stone's leg.

MORGAN A sigh escaped Morgan as Malcontent did something...aimed...at the ground. "Mal, I meant the other Ekans. The one you can see! Way to drop the ball..." This was ironic, considering the fault lay with her--or rather her player, though for this instance they're essentially the same thing--for using Copy/Paste from her previous post and forgetting to change the number of the Ekans that Malcontent was supposed to attack. ...But, right. Back on the correct side of the fourth wall--Morgan looked up from her facepalm when Raptor let out a wholly un-owl-like squawk, to see him being Wrapped. Merde. "Mal, Night Shade on the Ekans attacking Ra--" Morgan was cut off by the second Ekans resurfacing, and attacking Jasper. "Cancel that--Knock Off on this tail on Stone's leg!" As Malcontent floated over to the trainer and traveling companion--infuriatingly slowly, even though that may just be the Poison working--Morgan had Raptor's Pokéball out and was attempting to withdraw him, but was finding that impossible. "Merde... Raptor, uh... Peck it again!" If she'd been thinking clearly, Morgan would have remembered that he had Hypnosis, which would have been exceedingly helpful in this situation... but she didn't. Instead, she took out "Tide"'s Pokéball and attempted to release him in the air, slightly above the above-ground Ekans. ...It was worth a shot, right?
Party:----- Mal attempts Knock Off on Ekans 2's tail (attempting to knock it off of Jasper's leg)
- Malcontent is hurt by Poison
- Raptor attempts Peck on Ekans 1
- Morgan attempts to release "Tide" in the air above Ekans 1, hoping to distract/damage it via sudden falling Pokémon

Pupils couldn’t decide what to focus on as Jasper’s eyes flashed between the pokemon and Morgan. He was aware his heart beat had accelerated though to what he hadn’t counted. Hand still on Aurora’s pokeball, Jasper was legitimately considering releasing her to act as aid of some sort. So focused was he on his visuals and thoughts, the doctor didn’t even have time to react to the sudden purple tail exploding from the ground and seizing his lower leg and ankle. The sudden squeeze and yank, earned a “AH!” as Jasper’s muscles tensed and locked resisting the pull with the force of a man whose strength was predominately in his legs- ironically like his since passed Blaziken. |

Well, the Tirtouga plan was pretty solid... sort of. The Ekans' eyes grew wide as the Pokemon apparated above it. Luckily for the snake, it was incredibly fast. It darted in its best attempt to flee the falling rock turtle, and managed to escape, for the most part. The Ekans' tail, which was just struck by the Hoothoot's peck, was stuck under the Pokemon. Speaking of, Raptor also tried to jump out of the way, but with so little time to do so, its foot ended up getting caught beneath it.
The tail snapped at the incoming ghost, successfully countering its knock off by knocking it back. Jasper's own pull just started to work, but as his foot came off the ground, the snake tugged it right back down with incredible strength.
"Ununun!!" the bunnies squealed from the other side. They scurried straight to Morgan's legs. What was going on here!? It seemed that the other Ekans had resurfaced and went after the tiny creatures again. With an irritated hiss it slid its way past its partner and towards Morgan.
But... wait. If that was the other Ekans... then what was..?
Upon closer observation, the tail holding Dr. Stone did not have a rattle. What have you done now Morgan?
Ekans 1's tail and Raptor's foot are caught under Tirtouga!
Ekans 2 is sliding toward Morgan!
Dr. Stone's leg is still being pulled under!
Mal was knocked back!

MORGAN ...Oh. Well, it was sad that Raptor's foot was caught, but she'd been thinking that he was likely to get caught by the brunt of the blow, so... net gain, she supposed? Maybe she could... Eh... no, withdrawing him still wasn't working, even if he was trapped by his teammate this time around. "Raptor, Peck it again!" Hopefully "Tide" would see the action and...maybe...do something? Or--wait, heh. Easier solution... "Right. Tirtouga, Return." Not that saying as much aloud did anything, but it... felt right to say it as she clicked the button on the Tirtouga's Pokéball. At least Raptor should be free to move now... with... a hurt leg. Still, he wasn't about-to-be-eaten anymore. Net gain! Turning her attention back to Dr. Stone, Morgan saw...the Knock Off had failed. "Merde, she muttered under her breath, before she heard something behind her. ......Ekans there, Ekans by Raptor, then...? Merde there wasn't time now. Morgan, get it together! "Mal, Screech! Doctor, cover your ears!" After saying that she dropped to her knees, leaning her head heavily to her left and shoving that shoulder up--smooshing her left ear into her shoulder. She plugged her right ear with one finger of her left hand, and with her right started pulling at the tail...or whatever it was around Stone's leg... with her right hand. You could almost say she was 'clawing' at it, with how she was digging in her well-kept nails, even if they weren't particularly sharp.

The yank on his foot again was threatening to make Jasper fumble, and as his heel threatened to give way, the slate haired man sank on his other knee hands now on the ground and practically clawing at it to keep himself from being dragged. It was scantly working however as he found himself still sliding. The doctor barely had time to register the order to plug his ears but did so as quickly as he could releasing his hands from the ground for a moment to block out the oncoming sound.
What was going on? That was the question that continued to tick in Jasper's mind. How could these snakes be ... what were these Ekans? How could they be this strong and fast at supposedly a weak level? And what were they doing there to begin with?
