appearance
Kimaru is not quiet what you might expect from someone who spends most of their time away from civilization. He stnads a good six foot and a few inches, putting him at taller than most but not a giant. His tall stature is fitted with a thin frame, weighing in at around a hundred and thirty or so, making him suprisingly light. He has a wiry sort of strength, with a well built body, even if rather light weight. But even so, his strength is not in brute force, something he knows very well. He is acrobatic, flexible, and swift, which he uses often to his advantage against heavier and stronger oppeents. Where others are strong, he is athletic, making him, if anything, just that much more deadly.
Looking more at his features, Kimaru has dark green eyes, and darker skin, tanned to a light brownish tint. His hair is a very dark, almost black, shade of brown, generally kept back in a long and thin ponytail that falls to about half-way down his back. His bangs hang down to just above his eye level, and on each side he leaves a long chunk of hair loose that falls to a bit below his collar bone. His features are a beat rough around the edges but fine, and he bears very few scars, just a few lacing his arms mostly.

clothing
everyday Kimaru wears a very basic sleeveless dark red shirt, matching headband, and dark blue or black sturdy pants, also of a simple design. His footwear is a good set of black boots, hardy and good in most terrain. Around his waist it a simple leather belt, dark brown and untooled or otherwise embellished. On each arm he wears a plain leather bracer, and on each hand he wears a black fingerless glove. Around his neck he wears a necklace, a black string with five large yellow-gold coins strung on it. | formal Ha! Oh thats funny! Formality? There is little need for formaility anymore, not in this line of work. |
backpack
Most things Kimaru carries he stores in one of the leather pouches he wears looped around his belt. For bigger things, or rations and such, he keeps a small leather rucksack of sorts with a few straps to hang equipment from and one main pouch with two pockets inside. But generally, he tries to travel light.
personality
Kimaru is a very intelligent and clever person with a good sense of humor and little bit too much sarcasm and wit for his own good. He's not hard to get along with, with a easy smile and a friendly personality. He's irritating sometimes, but often one to lend a helping hand. And if you show promise, he is a loyal follower, willing to take a hit if absolutely needed. He is a good friend, and a good followerer, providing insight when helpful, and a clever solution when needed, although he rarely resorts to an open fight. Not to say he is entirely dependable, even those close to him have to stand for their own, and he is not one to fight physical battles for someone else. Suprisingly, he is best when it comes to wits, and has a clever tounge for someone who treks the uncivilized lands.
Of course, he is more than that. He knows when to play it nice, and when to get serious. He'll lend a helping hand when it doesn't hurt, or he'll put his very life on the line for you to benefit his own needs. And you'll never know when he decides to drop you, leaving you very suddenly fending for yourself. Kimaru is a man of plans, and he is patient, and willing to give up everything for his driving goals. While you play a key role in his goals, he will lay life and limb down for you, defending you to the end. Not to say he will coddle you or protect you, if you can't hold your own then he'll let you fall. But he will take a shot for you as well, and lend a hand in sticky situations. But he will ultimately sacrifice anything and everything for his goals. His goals drive him, define him.
In the end, he is a rather cold man. Where he seems careless or over-confident, he is watchful and calculating. He knows his strengths, and while he may seem fool hardy or easy going at times, he almost never starts something when he would lose. He is not afraid to break another's trust in the blink of an eye, and he is by no means afraid to play unfair or do things by dagger and cloak. In the end, if his goal is driving enough, nothing else matters. But he is patient, and can wait years to put a plan into motion. His disguise is so real, even he forgets it is a facade sometimes.

likes & dislikes
likes In the end, his goals are what matters most. But, a good drink, and a warm day spent kicking back don't hurt. An interesting development, watching a good fight unravel, seeing everything fall into place, there are many things he finds enjoyable. Finally seeing a feral come to trust him, seeing a pokemon be born, finding a new species of pokemon, or new mutation of such. There is much to explore, and many simple pleasures. | dislikes Kimaru isn't a fan of a direct fight. Not to say he won't, or that he isn't skilled in such, but he prefers not to get involved. There isn't much he truly dislikes though. A spilled drink is a shame, a wasted day of nothing but dull chore work, having to lead, and dealing with enexpected problems rising up are a few things he generally finds distastful. But much of what he dislikes, he also likes, in a way. People with stubborn pride, a steady determination, an unexpected pokemon popping out, many of these things are irritating to him, but admirable, or otherwise useful or better off as such in the end. |
the backstory
Kimaru is a wandering sort with a lonely heart, by all appearances. He was born before the legend portal, though he was too young to remember much of Earth. All he has is memories of pictures, of a holographic projection of what it was before. Long before. A beautiful planet of green and blue, with swirling white clouds. Pokemon and animals and people, so bright, so real. Not the harsh kill or be killed reality of this place. He knew what it turned into, how could he not? Humanity turned it into a wasteland. And this . . . this could hardly compare to old Earth's beauty. He spent his childhood dreaming of Earth, and staring at the photographs, the rare hologram, the videos, even pouring through books and stories.
But dreaming wouldn't change reality. Earth was gone. And it would take several centuries to change this place into a shadow of Earth's former glory. But he was willing to work towards that. When he came into his teenage years, Kimaru began working to train pokemon. Pokemon were strength. They were power. But it took a certain . . . finesse to train them. You had to be gentle, you had to gain their trust, get them to wholly and fully trust you. Build a bond. And then break your ties and give them away. He worked well under people, he could train the pokemon, and he held no emotional ties or regrets to anything. If it worked toward making this place like the old earth, he didn't care what he had to give up. The ends justify the means. Always.
As an young man he began moving from training to exploring. He began to find that people worked just like pokemon. And so he became skilled with his words as well. As his forays went farther and farther into unknown lands, he made his friends, chose his contacts carefully, and worked under the people who could truly get what he was after. Perhaps within a lifetime he would see the already civilized areas turn into a mirror of the old earth. But it would take supplies, pokemon, tools, and much more. And not everyone was right. Some were just getting in the way of returning the planet to Eden. So he began learning how to take them down, finding a dagger in the dark to be conveniant and fast at times, and an uprising or outcastship just as handy. If no one was listening, then it didn't matter what you thought, and if you followers follow someone else, you no are the shepard who leads them. And his job made things actually easier, not harder. He could get out of town when needed, dissapearing for days or even weeks without concern or suspicion. And he was still helping the cause, forging a path ahead and gathering to resources necessary to forge a new world.
Because at the end of the line, the ends will justify the means.
