Emerald Price
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Orientation: idk, pansexual
Profession: Researcher
Occupation: Geneticist
Mentor: The Ambassador
Appearance: Em carries herself with a confident, quick stride. With her back straight, she has the air of elegance and poise. She is very happy, and her face and gait give that off, which can be a problem at times when that is not welcomed. Though rather attractive, all of Emerald's features are plain.
Her hair is dyed a pale green, and her eyes are a natural darker green. Her hair falls down over her shoulders and is quite straight, but because there is so much of it, the locks do not fall straight down. Her face is a solid white, and a part from her rather plainer look, she is quite attractive. However, she looks terribly young for her age, and her stubbornness often times portrays a younger attitude as well, giving people the impression that she is around 14 than her real age. She stands at 5'3".
Everyday Clothes: Her outfits usually are bright colors on a dress of some sort. She does not mind wearing jeans, though she finds them to be boring and has very few of them in total. On many days, she wears a necklace, given to her by her mother. It is an emerald in the shape of a leaf, though relatively small. It is gold with the setting the same metal, and the larger stone Emerald cut to show the veins of the leaf and the shape of it. It is probably many carats and undoubtedly quite expensive.
Formal Garbs:* Her same, everyday clothes.
Pack: Emerald uses an over-sized berry pouch, given to her by her mother for larger hauls of berries. She then, when starting her field research, stitched sections and pockets for other items. It is not the prettiest bag, but it is extremely useful and durable.
Personality: Because of what happened in her life, she does not like to be alone. Though Em likes to helps people, any medical condition freaks her out. She has studied the plants of Mi-aro and grows all berries with her mother, though anything that she cannot fix completely destroys her. She is also terribly afraid of being sick herself. and dying.
Though Em likes to throw caution to the wind and do things that are not necessarily safe, she follows rules precisely. Whether it is a cookbook or being quiet in a library, she tries does not break them. Em loves scents. With her house being a makeshift berry and plant shop, scents are all around her. She tends to smell pokemon and people, which can put her into interesting situations. If they do not smell, she will give them complimentary herbs or flowers and tell them to visit her shop. Emerald is the happiest person one could meet. She chocks everything up to being happy, neutrally happy, or cannot-find-happiness-at-the-moment.
Likes:
•Flowers
| Emerald finds them to be soothing. She was born in her house looking out to flowers, and even in her mother's bitter, cancerous state, she always woke up to fresh flowers from Esmeralda.
•Grass types
| Though Emerald does not care about types and wants a diverse group of pokemon, the girl loves grass types. She would never tell her own pokemon that, but they are the embodiment of nature and a new beginning for all of humans.
•New people
| Emerald loves meeting new people. Many times, she has stolen money from her mother's shop to buy mercenaries to hang out with her, though she only ended up crying about her stealing and let them leave early.
•Grafting | Without even knowing it, Emerald picked up on species of plants and grafting. Her mother supposedly did it to make highly spicy- or etc.-flavored berries before coming to Mi-aro. Being taught by her mother the rough mechanics, Emerald grew adept in the precise art, though she does not know the science of it.
•Mornings | Sometimes, all three large bodies in the sky can be seen. To Emerald, it is the most magical moment, though it happens only once every few weeks.
Dislikes:
•Mud
| Emerald loves getting dirty and roughin' it up. But she actually only care for the effort and yield it produces. In a metaphor, Emerald likes the berries at the top of the tree and saying she climbed it; she actually loathes the tree and climbing and everything else.
•Boring/ Sad people
| Emerald has been sad before. Her mother died. She understands how it can be, but one who is hopelessly sad, who refuses to be happy, well they annoy her somewhat. Though she would never show it, she can get peeved.
•Rats
| They are scum. She is happy there are few where she lives. She heard of stories of them, and she cringes when she thinks of them.
•Someone being condescending | Emerald is not stupid. She acts stupidly. But when she tells people she is a researcher, the scoffs she gets are the few things that truly annoy her. People can act like idiots and not actually be idiots.
Backstory:
Emerald Price grew up in a loving home. She was cared for under the strict supervision of her mother. Though she loved her mother greatly, Esmeralda Price kept a sheltering wing over her child. Spiteful that her husband was constantly travelling and doing whatever else he could get away with from their distance, Esmeralda did not like her child being very far a part from her. Her mother owned a business that took berries and made an array of products. Some were dyes, others were jams. Other times, she worked with plants to alter how they worked and felt. She tried her life to change Spiny Leaves into something more useful. Though, with her limited science knowledge, her success did not go far.
When Emerald was 13, her mother grew very ill. She lived a life of sadness and insecurities, and it manifested itself into a disabling affliction that only got worse in time. It was also called cancer by many physicians. Instead of journeying the region and looking for new plants and berries, Em was stuck staying and caring for her mother. Esmeralda took her child out of school to help her with her miserable life. Emerald, though, did not mind. She had a smile on when she helped her mother in the final years or her life. And Esmeralda hated it. The woman was bitter and cruel, and she often destroyed things to make the girl clean it up. This helped Emerald grow a thick skin for torment, and still keep a happy face.
A few months later Emerald's mother passed away. She was distraught, but had a new-found goal. She was more than ever determined to become a top researcher in the new land. She wanted to make her mother proud, and get recognition for herself. Though she was not meant for a lab, being a field agent would be best for her. With her advanced grafting abilities, she could mix new plants she found with old ones she knew well. She could change Mi-aro, she knew it.
