Declan made it a point to weave in and out of the general populations sight. After all, the…jobs he usually picked up went best if he wasn’t noticed. Now he hadn’t done anything extreme yet, but he was definitely the guy that did the dirty work. Between finding hidden people, interrogating, or just getting something done conspicuously, he was the one people knew to call; which was a major compliment due to his young age. Declan darted, wound, and ducked between people, carts, and whatever else. His footsteps were silent, and his gaze determined. Since he arrived at this blasted world he’s been looking for a way to get enough power, or even a Pokémon to go and search for his ex-douche bag. But being a teenage alone…here. It’s hard enough to feed yourself, let alone go on a trip.
He came a long way, from using a wooden shank to ambush and kill small Pokémon, so he could eat – to actually about to get his first weapon, and even a Pokémon. Whether it was right or wrong, he needed this Pokémon. It was the key to his success. He liked to think himself good, able to get out of most situations, however this place was too feral for his liking, and anything could come out and kill him. Declan finally reached the Global Market, his knee length coat flapped and snapped in the cool ocean breeze. He was just outside the Global Market, and he was supposed to meet Mr. R here. The man obviously had connections… he found Declan, or someone did, and left a note to make sure he was here at this exact time.
Declan hoped it was that he was building a name for himself, that the rapport he built up as being a lethal and efficient spy he was training himself to be was paying off. He heard though some channels that Mr. R was quite powerful, and had a vast knowledge of the existing settlements. And seeing how Declan has seen on the better portion of Port City, he was hoping for some knowledge of New Pallet… or anything. He didn’t want to get his hopes up. He just wanted to find the man that abandoned him, and maybe fill up his wallet at the same time.

A woman behind a desk sat in a building with a bright red ‘R’ written the front entrance. She was busy reviewing papers when Declan approached. A blush spread across her cheeks as the handsome man approached, she hunched her shoulders making herself even smaller than the taller man standing across the desk and tucked a hair behind her ear. “H-hello,” she stammered as she scanned the paper for the name of Mr. R’s next appointment, “Declan Grimm?” she asked glancing up at Declan for confirmation. A strong hand rested on her shoulder. “It’s fine Aya, this is Declan and we do have an appointment. I can take it from here.”The hand connected to a gorgeously built man, who was slightly taller than Declan. He wore a smart navy business suit which complemented his fine blonde hair, which was swept into a fauxhawk. He wore a pearly white smile on his sharp face that looked sculpted by the gods. To complete the look he wore an earpiece which likely attached to his X-gear. “Nice to finally meet you, Declan. I am Mr. R,” the man said extending his hand to the boy. After the formalities were taken care of, the mentor motioned for the young man to follow him to his office. The office was tight for a man as reputable as Mr. R. The walls were lined with several shelves with a desk squeezed in the center with two chairs. Behind the desk was a large coloured glass with a large red “R”. On the desk sat 5 pokeballs in a line, each with a picture attached to it, and a pamphlet. The man sat down and offered a seat to the soon-to-be-trainer that was facing him. “As there isn’t much room in here I will be unable to release all five pokemon at once. So instead you can see a picture of each attached to their pokeball.”“These Pokemon are all practical choices for you… line of work. The Ditto and Shuppet are good for gathering information while not being seen and the other three are good at trapping or chasing down a mark. The Houndour is the better tracker, and may be more useful for finding a certain individual if you have a scent sample.”When he finished he pushed the pamphlet towards Declan. “You may also choose from any of the classic Pokemon at the lab. Mercenaries start with two, so take your pick.”

The large red R was definitely not trying to be subtle. And Declan was way too young to even know that the symbol used to be associated with malice, and evil; which he may have liked even more. To him it was just some company’s logo, and that was that. Declan entered the small building with no hesitation, and in a very swift, determined manner. He kept his eyes set on the front desk as he entered, noticing the woman’s every subtle movement. He couldn’t help but feel flattered when the blood rushed to the woman’s cheeks causing an immediate rosé look. He slowly approached the counter, and replied back to her.
“Hello” he said with a deviant smile. He didn’t take his gaze off her. Thoughts of ravishing her raced through his mind, his tongue running along half of his bottom lip before he gently bit it. “That is correct” he confirmed her question. However that was short-lived. Declan’s gaze was interrupted by a strong hand on her shoulder. Declan’s eyes followed the hand to a suited arm, which was connected to a gorgeous man.
“Daddy…” He whispered extremely lowly so no one could here. He then continued to bite on his lip, till it practically drew blood, the taste of iron his indicator that he was doing so.
Now the roles were reversed. Declan was now the receptionist smitten. Declan didn’t even know where one could get a suit tailored of that quality here in Port City…perhaps New Pallet? He was very well put together, but Declan couldn’t help to think what he looked like without the clothes. He could care less what he would do to the receptionist now, he wanted to know what this Mr. R could do to him…And why’d that call him Mr. Rocket… He probably had a nice size rocket in his pocket! Declan smirked, in a daydream before even realizing Mr. R had extended his hand out to him.
Declan reached out, giving him a firm handshake, no tell-tale signs that his knees were like a ditto at the moment. He then followed him into the tight room. His mind wandered again… on the desk…against the wall. ‘OK’ he got himself into control. He blinked a couple times to refocus his vision. Mr. R started explaining his choices and the method of the pictures. Which Declan actually loved… He didn’t want his mind to be clouded by cliché cute interactions that would influence him to choose a pokemon that wasn’t exactly the best to suit his needs. He then listened to Mr. R, and for a few moments stayed quiet. He had to think it over.

A few minutes later Declan grabbed the two pokeballs holding the Ditto and Spinarak. “I’ve made my decision. These two will be perfect for my…occupation.” He spoke confidently and assertive for the first time since meeting Mr. R. He then waited for further instruction.

A gorgeous, closed-eye grin was the man's response to Declan's choices. "Excellent."
With that, he removed the other pokeballs and moved his attention to the shelved walls that were completely crowded with items. R grasped his fingers together and laid his elbows upright on his dark desk before continuing, "See that shelf labeled 'Trainer Items'? You may choose three from that stack." (under 35₪)
He then used his eyes to point at a few items on his desk, an X-gear with a Holo Chip and five pokeballs. "To go along with your X-gear, you may also choose either an Ability or Dex Chip."
---
R waited patiently for Declan to choose his items before passing a nod.
"Now Declan, I've always considered myself an excellent judge of potential." He allowed a smirk to cross his features. "As you may know, normal animals are almost nonexistent here on Mi-aro, and so many of the products we used are Pokemon based; the leather, meat, anything you can think of really. Many people have adapted to this way of life and no longer refuse to use these items and products. That being said," a somewhat embarrassed chuckle escaped him, "I have had quite a hard time getting adventurers to actually take the first step in that process. Which involves killing Pokemon. You understand it was once a taboo belief, but we can't afford taboo when our survival is at stake."
Finally, R sighed and pushed to the point, "If you're up for it, I will hire your services to do just that. Of course, I can't really pay you much, as I'm funding quite a few larger projects, but think of it as an advertisement to the other Merchants, and even Researchers. Work a little for me, and other will take notice and hire you to do their quote unquote, dirty work." The man opened a leather-bound book from the corner of his desk, the pages were filled figures, although he did spot a few pictures here and there.
A rather unpromising frown drew across his countenance, "Looks like I'd only be able to pay 25 coins for every Pokemon you bring in." With a toothy grin he closed the book, "If you want to make the big bucks, you'll need to make some contacts with the other Merchants, particularly those who can use Pokemon parts in their merchandise, Blacksmiths, Alchemists, Chefs, whatever you can think of. And if you can find your own uses, that'll only sweeten the pot."
"Of course, that's assuming that this is a career you'd like to pursue. In the meantime," R stood and once again extended his hand to the new trainer, "you can text me or set up an appointment whenever you need me. Do you have any questions?"
You may choose Pokemon's Names, Genders, Abilities, and Personalities

Declan grabbed his items that he found would be most beneficial. He also found a dagger, and a little less than a dozen shurikens on the shelf that he helped himself to. Then Declan grabbed his X-Gear and asked some questions about the different chips. The questions were answered and Declan decided that the Ability Dex would be best for his needs. If he could have his pokemon learn sneaky assassin type moves that would be perfect. He rubbed his fingers along the two pokeballs, now attached to the harness strap. He couldn’t wait to meet these guys. He wanted to form their personalities to his need and was glad they were not out of their pokeballs yet.
Declan thought that was it and he’d be on his way. But Mr. R’s next few sentences had peaked his interest. Declan’s smile slowly grew across his face the more Mr. R talked. He could get more money and power, just by doing something he normally did anyway. He guessed the gorgeous older man had a point…a lot of people still had their qualms about killing the pokemon around them. “Sounds fair enough. I accept” He didn’t want to seem too excited. He knew it wasn’t completely sane to like killing as much as he did, so he couldn’t exactly say that he would have a blast. He wanted everyone to know that he just didn’t have a problem getting a job done…that’s all they needed to know.
“I will text you if I need anything” Declan smiled, thinking nothing but dirty thoughts and looking to the man…up and down.
Declan took his items and made his way out the door. He winked at the receptionist on the way out, and continued into Port City. He needed to start a job, and his new partners would help him do just that.
