| After making a quick stop at the market to gather a few more things for the mission ahead, and making a quick stop at the inn for some dinner, Gwen had returned to the beach. Though it was later in the day, there was still some time for some last minute training, plus there was some other things she wanted to take care of, now that she had taken care to complete her X-gear's chip collection.
First thing she did, was release each of her active pokemon in turn, allowing the pokedex to scan them each, recording their information within. Once done, she just left Ignis and Sakura out as she reached into her bag and pulled out a small disc. A TM. She loaded it into the X-gear, and fiddled with the device for a moment. "Now this should teach you brick break." Gwen said as she aimed the X-gear at the Sakura.
Sakura blinked curiously, remaining still as the X-gear enveloped her in a strange, orangish brown light than seemed to match the color of the disc Gwen had put in. After a moment the light faded, and Sakura examined herself for a moment. The mawile then turned her attention to a nearby rock, and she swung her arm down on it with as much force as she could. It didn't end up going through the rock, but the force of the brick break attack had caused a rather noticable crack to appear.
"Bravo." Gwen said, before she turned to Ignis, and repeated the process on the Charmeleon. With that complete, she returned both Ignis and Sakura to their poke balls and began heading further down the beach. Hopefully there would be some lower leveled pokemon around here to train her newer pokemon against. Both Ignis and Sakura were fairly well prepared for the mission, but her remaining pokemon she hadn't had much of a chance to train at the moment. -------------------

| It wouldn't take long for Gwen to find some prospective targets to challenge, as the sounds of angry squawking filled the air. Coming from somewhere up ahead, two of the area's known water birds, a Ducklett and a Wingull, were having a loud spat over an oddly horned little krabby. Angry quacks and squawks filled the air as the two birds went back and forth between snapping at the crabby, and taking shots at each other.
<Mine! Mineminemine!> The Wingull squawked fiercely as he smacked the Ducklett with his wing. This was the first good meal he could get his beak on all day, his belly was grumbling all this time, so as if he was going to let some sneaky Wingull wannabe have it! He then grabbed the Krabby's arm with his beak and dragged the crab away.
<-Ack!> The Ducklett quacked as it got hit upside his head by the Wingull. It glared back, insulted by the Wingull's supposed claim to this delicious krabby. <Yeah right! It's MINE. I saw it first!> The Ducklett quacked right back before running after the wingull and delivering his own wing attack to it, before locking his beak on the Krabby's other arm and yanking back.
The two birds very quickly ended up in a game of tug-o-war, and the poor krabby, dazed from being pecked, dragged around and overall abused, could only flail his legs and fruitlessly snap his claws at the air while the two water fowl threatened to pull the limbs right off his body. Out of desperation, he opened his claws up and unleashed a burst of bubbles from them which popped in the duck's faces.
Both birds squawked, more in surprise than anything else from the less than effective bubble attack. It may not have hurt them, but it was still enough to cause both birds to lose their grip on the Krabby, and their prey quickly took the opportunity to flee from the birds, not even realizing he was heading straight for Gwen. -------------------

| Gwen paused in her step as she heard angry squawks echoing over the beach, and looking ahead, she observed the scene between the three water types. A wingull and a ducklett fighting over a very unfortunate krabby, by the looks of it. Gwen didn't particularly care much for rescuing the krabby, but battling the group would provide her pokemon some training, and that was what she was most intent on.
Gwen didn't have a lot of time to consider her first move though, as the krabby managed to free itself only to make a beeline straight for her, with the two birds in hot pursuit. She quickly grabbed three poke balls off her bag, and released them onto the field. Lunatone, Anorith(5) and Ducklett. "Anorith, use scratch on that krabby." She quickly ordered the bug pokemon, miming out the scratch attack as she had done with her other Anorith in a previous battle.
Anorith(5) unfortunately, didn't even look at Gwen, much less understand what the weird noises the human was saying or the weird gestures were supposed to mean. She was a lot busier being taken by surprise by the krabby heading straight toward her, and she instead used harden and covered her face with her claws as the crab ran right over top of her.
Gwen supposed she should put some more time into actually teaching her ferals basic commands before throwing them into battle. It certainly would cut down on her having to rely on luck and hope that they fought back fair enough on their own. Now that Krabby had gotten past Anorith, it was now headed in Gwen's direction and as he reached her, Gwen swung her leg forward and gave the crab a good kick back in the direction of the wingull and ducklett that were chasing after it. "Lunatone. Rock throw. Ducklett, wing attack." She then told her other two pokemon, pointing at the two birds.
Lunatone glanced at Gwen, and then at the Ducklett and Wingull. After pondering the situation for a moment, the Lunatone turned away, disinterested in whatever was happening. Ducklett wasn't really paying any attention Gwen at all, but she did have her eyes on the krabby that had landed in the sand in front of her and the other Ducklett. She glared at the opposing duck, as she approached the krabby. <Stay away from MY meal you unworthy featherbrained duck.> She scowled at the Ducklett before lunging at the krabby, grabbing it's claw in her beak and smacking it with her wings. -------------------

| Krabby didn't look back or forward for that matter as he rapidly side stepped away from the Ducklett and Wingull that were dead set on having him for dinner. He hardly even noticed walking over the Anorith, and was only brought to attention by the much harder to miss human standing in his way. He knew these weird creatures were often trouble, but he was out of options and he could only look up at Gwen with pleading eyes. <Please help m--> The krabby begun to beg, only for the human to give him a good kick that sent him flying back toward his aggressors.
Because humans were trouble. They were always trouble.
The Ducklett stopped in his tracks as the Krabby landed at his webbed feet. He snapped his beak in anticipation as he prepared to carry off his meal, only to find himself interrupted once again by that theiving wi- oh wait no. That was another Ducklett. The most obnoxiously snobbish sounding Ducklett he'd ever heard, to be frank. <The only duck who has feathers for brains is you, if you think you are getting MY meal!> The Ducklett snapped back, before snatching the krabby's other claw and tugging back.
Once again, Krabby was flailing his feet, barely able to feel the ground as the two ducklett fought over him. As if one ducklett wasn't enough, now he had two of them trying to eat him! Plus that Wingull, but the Krabby had lost track of that one, and wasn't in the best position to look around. It had worked well the first time, and with his options quickly running out, he opened up his claws again and sent another spray of bubbles out at the two Duckletts
While the Ducklett was preoccupied with the Krabby that had been kicked back into their midst, Wingull's attention had shifted to another tasty morsel that had entered the field. An anorith! A pokemon with such a hard shell had to be hiding such delicious tender meat beneath it's carapace. Ducklett could have that rotten old krabby! This was his prize, and he was going to get it. With his mind made, he flew up, and fired a water gun attack on the Anorith, then landed beside it and grabbed it's claw in his beak and tried to drag it away with him. -------------------

| Gwen's Ducklett, like her opponents before, was caught by surprise by the Krabby's bubbles, and she instantly let go. This time though, the wild Ducklett endured, managing to keep his grip on the crab pokemon, but hadn't been quite prepared for the sudden lack of resistance, which caused him to topple backwards, and fling the Krabby backward out of his grasp, and hitting Lunatone in the back of the head.
Gwen's Ducklett's snobbish attitude soon turned to fury, aimed right at the opponent Ducklett. She wasn't angry at the lost krabby though, no. That ducklett had committed a far worse crime in her eyes. An unforgivable crime that would not go unpunished! <I AM NOT A DUCK YOU INSOLENT BUFFOON!> She squawked loud enough to startle every pokemon on the field, before charging forth, wings swinging wildly to strike the Ducklett down.
Lunatone meanwhile, was taken a bit by surprise from being hit by a flying krabby. It spun around and stared at the crab, which at this point was laying face first in the sand, limbs twitching as it struggled to stay conscious. Well that was annoying. No wait, that Ducklett's deafeningly loud squawking was annoying. Deciding to kill two birds with one stone, she focused her psychic power on the Krabby, she lifted it up into the air, jostling it in the air before sending it flying at Gwen's Ducklett.
After the threat of the charging krabby had gone, Anorith(5) lifted her claws up and peeked around, only to get a face full of water and then have her claw painfully yanked by a Wingull. The Anorith let out a screech, and swung her free claw at the Wingull, trying to scratch what she could of the bird that seemed to want her as food.
Gwen watched the battle unfold, not sure of how amused she was with her Ducklett's sudden rage. It was like this when she had captured it. Apparently the duck had a very short fuse, but it was impossible to tell what exactly was setting her off. Deciding to let the Ducklett and Lunatone sort themselves out, she instead focused her attention on Anorith(5) who was now fighting off a wingull. It had taken a super effective water gun attack, and the anorith was among the weaker of the pokemon she had out to begin with. Deciding to give the Anorith a hand, she unsheathed her longsword, and then smacked the wingull with the flat side of the blade, causing it to release Anorith(5) and fall to the ground a couple feet away from them. -------------------

| Krabby really was not having a very good day today. Between being used as a tug toy by a bunch of birds who wanted to have him for lunch, and being kicked and thrown around like some toy in a cruel game, the damage was taking it's toll. Having been thrown one way and colliding with the very hard body of a Lunatone, only to get thrown back in a rather twisted, jolty manner and landing on one of the ducklett, he staggered back to his feet, walking around tipsily before swinging his claws at some unseen enemy, only to smack himself upside the head with his own claw instead, knocking himself out.
Ducklett was also very confused, though not in the same sense that he was prepared to smack himself silly, but he honestly could not make one lick of sense over the opposing Ducklett's proclamation of not being a duck. He was so dumbfounded that he hadn't even thought to get out of the way as the enraged bird begun to smack him around with her wing attack. <But- you- YOU ARE A DUCK!> The Ducklett spat between wing attacks, before finally getting a reprieve in the form a the krabby suddenly flying back in and knocking the crazy Ducklett off him. Wasting little more time, he quickly ran up and gave the opposing bird a smack of his own with his wing before snatching up the now fainted Krabby and trying to run off with it before the female had a chance to recover herself.
In the meantime, Wingull thought he had scored a good and easy meal, but it turned out his food was capable of fighting back, and he squawked as the Anorith's claw sliced his cheek. Well, that hurt. Maybe not super badly, but ow. Fortunately for him though, it would take more than that to deter him. Then, apparently the anorith did have more, and Wingull was suddenly smacked upside the head by the flat side of a very sharp looking blade. Wingull plopped into the sand, releasing his grip on the anorith, before rapidly backing up and taking flight. Seeing the human standing over his prey he dived, firing a water gun attack straight at her face. Why was everyone after HIS food today?

| The wild ducklett's assertion that she was actually a duck, did nothing to calm his raving mad opponent. She just continued to squawk loudly, her voice becoming more of a shriek now. She went straight after the Ducklett with her face burning red with rage. <I am a SWAN and I will not be associated with classless fools like YOU!> She continued to rave as she caught up with the Ducklett and slapped him again with another wing attack.
Anorith(5) was as surprised as the wingull when Gwen suddenly smacked it down with her sword. After the initial alarm however, the bug was relieved to be free from the Wingull's grasp. Feeling a little bit more respect for the human, the Anorith eyed the Wingull as is dived at her trainer, firing a water gun attack at her. Her own weakness to water did make her cringe a bit, even though Gwen wouldn't be nearly as affected by the attack as she would be.
Though she was feeling a lot more keen to help fight this battle, the Wingull was now in the air, and way out of reach of Anorith's scratch attack. Her eyes then darted to the Lunatone and she crawled up to where it was now floating quite boredly. <Hey, how about helping us with this wingull?> Anorith suggested to it. It would certainly be better than having it just float there like a useless rock, not that Anorith was going to voice that particular opinion outloud.
Lunatone glanced down at the Anorith, then up at the Wingull, and back down at the Anorith again. If she had shoulders, she might have shrugged. She didn't though, so she simply turned away. <No.> The Lunatone responded simply with a spacey trill and a low uninterested tone. Lunatone thought herself to be many things, but a bodyguard was not one of them.
Anorith dug her claws into the sand in irritation. <No?> She echoed incredulously. How could a psychic space rock be this lazy? An entire battle was going on around it and it didn't even care to fight back? <I can't reach that Wingull when it's flying and I'm going to be bird food if we don't defeat it!> The Anorith snapped furiously at the rock.
The bug was beginning to get bothersome, and that annoyed Lunatone. Well, if it was worried about not being able to reach the Wingull, she supposed she could fix that. Turning her gaze on the Anorith, she used confusion, sending the Anorith into the air and flinging it at the flying Wingull. There, now you should be able to reach it. Whiny bug. She thought huffily, before turning around again to stare out at the ocean.
Being thrown, wasn't exactly what Anorith had in mind as she sailed threw the air. She had to give the Lunatone some credit though, she was going straight for that Wingull and as she came into reach, she snapped her claws at the bird and held on tight as they both plummeted to the ground. -------------------

| The wild ducklett could only widen his eyes in sheer incredulity at the opposing duck's claims. He was well aware that they would eventually evolve into Swannas, but obviously that Ducklett hadn't got there yet, regardless of her insistance. He could only consider the female to be absolutely crazy, and if she couldn't be associated with 'classless buffoons', then she would have to be in some other classless category because classy was the last thing that tempermental duck was.
Whatever did he care though? He just wanted his lunch! If the other Ducklett wanted to think she was a swan, then all the power to her, so long as she left him alone, which she did not. In trying to drag the krabby away, his speed was fairly hindered, as was his ability to really defend himself from the wing attack that was delivered to him. Once again dropping the krabby, the wild Ducklett turned on the female and slapped her right back. He wished he had more effective moves than this. At least though it seemed the female was equally restricted to wing attacks.
Wingull sneered in satisfaction as he nailed the human right in the face. Serves that mostly bald creature for interfering with his dinner! The wingull remained airborne as he scanned the ground for that anorith. Where did it go? For a second he couldn't tell where it went until he caught sight of it suddenly coming straight at him. Before he could figure out how an anorith suddenly learned to fly, the bug had latched onto him and dragged him out of the sky. They both hit the ground with a thud, sending a small cloud of dust flying around them. The sand was a somewhat soft landing pad, but it certainly was no pillow. A loud angry squawk erupted from the Wingull's beak, and he lashed out at his prey again with a wing attack.

| Too dazed from the fall, Anorith didn't even realize the Wingull was looming over her with a threatening wing, and next moment she felt the sting of the wingull's wing across her face. Anorith staggered backward, feeling the damage from the battle. It was only the second well, third hit that she had taken given that Lunatone's 'help' wasn't exactly pain-free, but the initial water gun attack had done quite a bit of damage on her rocky shell. She wasn't really sure how much more she could take, but if that wingull fired another water gun, she knew she'd be done for.
Anorith raised her claws, snapping intimidatingly at the Wingull, though she continued to back away as the bird advanced on her. Gwen could see the Wingull was quite intent on Anorith, and carefully she sneaked up on the sea bird, sword raised, and once she was close enough she swung down, smacking the wingull square on the head with the flat side of her sword. Distracted, the Wingull had stood no chance of avoiding the hit, and crumpled into a feathery heap in the sand, unconscious. Gwen then returned the sword to it's sheath, wondering if it would have been simpler to have bought a mace or something instead when she didn't really have any interest in cutting up her opponents.
Two pokemon were down, and the two Ducklett were still having at each other, exchanging wing attacks. Gwen watched them only for a brief moment before deciding that battle didn't require her immediate attention, and instead she turned to her Anorith, who looked quite beaten up and was still shifting itself backwards, though not quite as urgently as before. "You put up a good fight there. Good job." Gwen congratulated the Anorith, giving the bug a friendly smile. She then reached into her bag, and pulled out a potion. "This should help heal your injuries. It might sting a little." She said as kindly as she could, as she reached over and sprayed the Anorith's shell.
Anorith was still felt a little nervous around Gwen, but she was beginning to feel less wary of her, and she did help her take down that Wingull that wanted to have her for lunch. Maybe she wasn't so bad? Wait, whats that? Anorith thought, backing away as Gwen approached her with a strange object that seemed to have a vial of liquid inside. She couldn't understand what Gwen was saying, but she sounded nice. But was that a hint of warning in her tone at the end? Anorith didn't get much chance to contemplate what was happening before she felt a spray washing over her back. The spray did indeed sting. For a moment the pain of her wounds flared up, and that was enough to cause Anorith to panic and back up several paces, pupils dilated in alarm. <What what did I do? What was that for?> The Anorith squeaked, half frightened half angered. She fought that battle, could have been wingull food. Why was the human punishing her?
A low spacey groan came from Lunatone as her gaze shifted back to the Anorith, then to Gwen to see the bottle in her hands which she must have sprayed the bug with. <That… humans call it a potion.> The Lunatone muttered. Being a pokemon of superior intelligence, and having spent a considerable time lurking around these humans, she did know some things about them. <Potions heal wounds. Stop whining.> The lunatone added with annoyance before turning her gaze back to the ocean again.
Anorith glared at the insensitive Lunatone,. She didn't understand how something that obviously hurt her was supposed to heal her, but as her initial panic began to subside, she did suddenly notice that the pain had quickly subsided, and she did feel considerably better. She then looked up at Gwen, reading the concern on her face. Well, as unpleasant as that experience was, she supposed she couldn't hold it against Gwen for healing her. Still, she kept her distance, having no desire to give the human a chance to spray her again. She felt fine, she didn't need this hurt-heal potion thing again.
"Feel better?" Gwen asked as she put the empty bottle in her bag. The Anorith, though freaked out at first, seemed to calm down quickly at least. With that done, Gwen pulled out the Anorith's poke ball and returned it for a well deserved rest. Now that was taking care of, she turned her attention to the Ducklett battle. Though both were Ducklett, she easily knew which one was hers by which one looked exceptionally furious. Indeed, her Ducklett seemed to be squawking angrily non-stop as she lashed out at her opponent. Though both seemed to wear down overtime, it was the wild Ducklett that eventually collapsed into the sand, too exhausted to go on, while the female took a few more weakened swipes at it before stumbling back, and sitting down in the sand, chest still heaving in anger, though at this point she could only glare at the fainted Ducklett.
Gwen immediately returned her Ducklett to it's poke ball, then she approached the fainted Krabby. Looking at it closely, she could tell it's horns seemed a bit shorter than most Krabby, and were a bit more gnarled looking. Was it a mutation, or did it maybe have it's horns snapped off by another pokemon? Whatever the case, it wasn't really that intriguing and she wasn't sure if she wanted to catch it or not at the moment. She poked at it's claw, wondering if it was even still alive after all the abuse it had taken during the battle, and in responded by closing it's claws over her finger, though it's grip was too weak to even hold on to her and she easily extracted her finger unharmed. Shrugging and thinking she might as well, she grabbed a premier ball at the fainted krabby.
Now all that remained was that stubborn Lunatone. It's attention hadn't been anywhere near where it was supposed to be during the battle, and it hadn't been nearly as helpful as it could have been. Crossing her arms, she tilted her head at the small moon shaped pokemon who kept her back turned to the trainer. "You like the ocean, I see." Gwen said tonelessly, not sounding all that cross, but not sounding particularly pleased either.
Like… Lunatone was familiar with the word like, though she had to ponder the human's other words. Well, if she was talking about the ocean, that was obvious wasn't it? The Lunatone wasn't really impressed by Gwen's ability to state the obvious. Of course she liked the ocean. Sure, being a rock type meant it would be a terrible idea for her to go into the ocean, but watching the waves rise and fall, water lapping endlessly at the beach in a constant pattern, was quite relaxing. It might have been more so though, if Gwen had taken her battling somewhere else.
Though it seemed the battle had finally ended and the battling pokemon were either returned to their orbs of confinement or knocked out, Lunatone didn't expect to enjoy the ensuing peace and quiet for very long. She'd probably find herself absorbed back into her own ball in moments now that the human had no excuse to keep her out here until she found another group of pokemon to she wanted her to battle. That's how this was supposed to be right? Of course she had no intention of making things easy. She was no slave, no mindless grunt. She wasn't going to obey orders just because some human put her in a ball!
Lunatone simply took what time she could to relax in front of the ocean, watching as the sun began to sink below the waves. Surprisingly though, she never was returned. Instead, Gwen had sat down beside her on a dry rock, sitting cross legged. Lunatone caught the human risk a curious glance, and the Lunatone just blinked. Unexpected… Lunatone thought, but showed no sign of discontent as she resumed her own meditation. Maybe the human wasn't quite unbearable after all. -------------------
