| Gwen remembered a little too late that stunky were sometimes known to possess the ability 'aftermath', which Espurr would surely fall victim to after using scratch to defeat it. Fortunately though, it seemed this wasn't one of those and the kitten seemed perfectly fine and was happy to return to it's perch on Lunatone.
Gwen noted what appeared to be a budding friendship between the two as she approached, with two premier balls in hand. She threw one at the stunky, and another at the diglett that had defeated her Mawile. She then looked up to where Ignis was battling, and witnessed the charmeleon being ensnared by the heatmor's long flame-like tongue. "Use brick break, Ignis." She instructed.
Ignis growled as he fidgeted in the heatmor's grasp. He did mange to get his arm free, and he swung it as hard as he could right at the anteater's long head. Too bad binding someone with your tongue didn't leave you much room to maneuver, even if the tongue was fairly long.

A loud clap of thunder sounded simultaneously with Charmeleon's attack. Yep, remember those clouds a few posts back? Well it seems that they were just about ready to enter the fray. Heatmor released its grasp on Charmeleon with a snarl. The two fire Pokemon would have a tough time fighting in the rain, but since Gwen had others with her, the Heatmor was at a disadvantage. "Mm-tor!" it trumpeted as it revealed an exciting fire from its snout. The flames spread and quickly enveloped Ignis. Sure it wasn't very effective, and even the burn wouldn't take, but this was its last chance to use fire for a bit so it had to use the opportunity. Heatmor then threw its claws at a nearby rock as if to sharpen them for the next attack.
Espurr and Lunatone watched warily but were still on edge about participating.

| Ignis snorted and backed away a couple steps when the Heatmor finally released him. He barely batted an eye as the sound of thunder assaulted his ears. As the Heatmor unleashed it's inferno attack, the Charmeleon rolled off to the side, only taking a grazing shot, that wasn't really that effective regardless. Then the heatmor turned away to rake it's claws against a rock, and Ignis took that moment of distraction as an opportunity to fire another dragon rage attack on it.
Gwen glanced upward as the thunderous clouds rolled over them. That was inconvenient, but not much else. Rain would make fire type moves weak for sure, but Ignis had his dragon rage attack to work with anyway, so that was of little concern. Still, it would probably be nice if they could finish this battle before any rain started. Her gaze fell on the Lunatone still floating around and doing not much of anything. "Lunatone. Rock throw on Heatmor. Before it rains and you get wet." Gwen told the rock, hoping it would get the picture and help Ignis finish the battle before it ended up getting rained on.

With a hiss the ball of draconic energy sliced past Heatmor's torso. A cry expelled from the creature with the strike. It wasn't a direct hit so Heatmor wasn't damaged for the full amount that the move normally causes. The Fire type was still pained though, its eyes shut in a slight cringe before it shot a direct and intimidating stare at its opponent. Black smoke coughed up from its snout as it snorted, then charged at the Charmeleon. The two locked claws for a sumo-style challenge.
Now, there were some perks to being a highly intelligent space rock. For instance, Lunatone had the ability to translate certain English words into its own language. Too bad that wouldn't help the taming process much, it was as stubborn as it was smart. Red eyes flashed as the creature glared at Gwen. It then lifted a large rock, the same that Heatmor had used, with its psychic abilities and hurled it at the fire types with a dark space tone.
Dust clouds flew up as both creatures were knocked down by the rock. Heatmor allowed for a single whimper before refocusing on its target. Still on the ground it whipped its tongue at Charmeleon, snapping the lizard right in the snout. Another clash sounded as the clouds moved in, they decided that it was their turn to join the fight. And with that, the darkened carriers released their cargo with no graduality. Rain now assaulted the battlefield. Quite bad timing it seems. Ignis would need to be careful to keep its tail lit.

| Ignis didn't so much as flinch as the Heatmor stared him down. The charmeleon instead returned the heatmor's glare with one of his own, pretty much daring the heatmor to come at him, which of course it did. As the heatmor charged him, Ignis threw up his arms and locked paws with the anteater. For a few brief moments, they simply struggled to force each other back, until they were suddenly interrupted by a rock thrown their way.
Gwen half frowned as even though Lunatone did actually follow the command, it ended up hitting Ignis as well. "Fair job, but try not to hit your allies in the future." Gwen said, sounding more exasperated than angry. She supposed she should have expected as much to happen. Things rarely did go her way here. "Ignis get up! Dragon rage!" Gwen called out to the charmeleon.
Ignis didn't really need to be told to get up. Though he did have half a mind to turn around and show that idiot Lunatone some dragon rage, he refrained from it. He had better control of his emotions than that, fortunately. He cringed slightly as the heatmor licked him. <Well I love you too.> The lizard snarled in the most sarcastic tone he could muster, before firing another dragon rage attack at the Heatmor.
The attack was quickly followed by a crack of lightning, and rain very quickly began to fall, and Ignis' tail flame dimmed slightly. Rain was rarely a major threat to a charmeleon's tail flame, there certainly would be a lot more flameless ones around if that were the case. This rain was coming down very quickly though, and there was no cover, so Gwen didn't really want to take her chances. Reluctantly, she returned Ignis back to his poke ball, along with Lunatone and Espurr as well. Ignis was the strongest pokemon she had that was still conscious, but perhaps one of her remaining ferals would be able to finish this battle.
Gwen's finger's closed around another one of her poke balls, and yanking it off her bag, she released the Ducklett onto the field. Ducklett appeared a few feet in the air, and she fluttered her wings as she steadily drifted onto solid ground. The ducklett held it's head up, seemingly unbothered by the downpour. "Ducklett. Use water gun on heatmor." She told the ducklett, pointing at the Heatmor through the rain. She still didn't expect a lot of obedience from the feral, but perhaps the Heatmor would be satisfied with a new target enough to give the duck some incentive.

Finally, Ignis was able to land a direct hit. Heatmor cried out as it the energy rammed the Pokemon. Slowly, it pulled itself up, then went to slash the Charmeleon who was recalled by Gwen. The anteater lowered its brow in confusion. Where did it... and then Ducklett was sent out.
Two loud and terrified squawks came with Ducklett upon its release. That was one scary Pokemon, and it wasn't even one of the bigger ones. With no further thought the duck made an about face to escape the creature, only to fly right to the stone-faced Gwen. Ducklett locked eyes with the trainer for a moment and then turned back to face the other Pokemon. What made it do that? Hm. Before the Heatmor had the chance to make a move, the duck Pokemon opened its beak to release a river of water the size of its own mouth. The rain had obviously increased its power, and Heatmor felt that. With a groan the fire-type crumpled down, defeated.
Ducklett gave an excited quack as it hovered down. It flipped around to nod at Gwen, then waddled to her position. With no sound it flapped itself up to her shoulder and snuggled into her short hair. A sweet gesture really, though quite abnormal for a Feral Pokemon. Too bad its feet were all muddy.
Ignis, Lunatone, & Ducklett each gain 4 EXP! Lunatone receives .5 TP for connecting Rock Throw. Ducklett receives 3 TP for defeating Heatmor with Gwen's command.

| At first, it seemed the Ducklett wanted nothing to do with Heatmor and instead turned tail and headed back to Gwen. Gwen crossed her arms at the Ducklett, giving it a stern look to let it know that cowardice wasn't going to fly. If Ducklett didn't finish this Heatmor off, then well, Gwen supposed she'd have to take a few swings at it herself with her longsword.
Fortunately though, the Ducklett thought better and returned to the fight, finishing the Heatmor off with a powered up water gun attack. Once the super effective attack was complete, the final attacker was down, and Gwen was left with a pokemon to catch. Gwen gave the best smile she could to the Ducklett as it turned and nodded to her. She thought that was that, but instead the Ducklett decided to take things a step further and fly up to her shoulder and snuggle into her. Gwen blinked, confused that the bird that she had known so far to have a temper that seemed to confuse any pokemon subjected to it, was now showing a more affectionate side.
Gwen smiled though, not unhappy with the more positive aspect to this pokemon, as she pulled her hand up to caress the side of the duck's head. "You did great out there Ducklett. Good work." She praised it. She then pulled out another premier ball and threw it at the Heatmor. She also looked over to the premier balls she had thrown at the Diglett and Stunky earlier which she had sort of overlooked since battling Heatmor.

The ball shook, 1.. 2... 3.... Ding! The Heatmor was captured. With that, Gwen had successfully defeated all of her opponents and almost made her way to New Pallet relatively unscathed. The routes wouldn't be that bad if there were all like this, but it seems Gwen would just have to find out for herself. Now all that the new mercenary had to do was get to New Pallet. She managed to catch three Pokemon, but she should probably get to town before she caught a cold as well!

| Looking around, Gwen actually couldn't find the Stunky or Diglett, though the heatmor's ball dinged with the successful capture and vanished into her PC before she so much had a chance to pick it up. "I guess the other two were caught while we were battling heatmor." Gwen mused, shrugging her one unoccupied shoulder.
Ducklett glanced at Gwen with a somewhat confused expression on her face. She couldn't tell exactly what the human was saying, but from the way she was looking around, Ducklett at least seemed to get that the human was looking for something. She glanced at the ground, but having not spotted anything particularly interesting, she emitted a low quack as if to say "Oh well", then shook a bit of mud her wet feet. The rain was lovely, but the mud was irritating to the vain ducklett.
Gwen looked to her X-gear, pulling up the pokedex, which confirmed the capture of all three pokemon. After that she quickly put it away before the device got too wet. She then looked to Ducklett, noticing the bird had gotten her shoulder rather muddy. "Let me clean that off..." She said, pulling a piece of fabric out of her bag, and approaching the Ducklett's feet carefully with it.
Ducklett stared at the cloth with some suspicion, though she remained still. What could she be doing with that thing? It didn't look very dangerous, and as the human began slowly wiping her feet with it, Ducklett became less disturbed by it After a few strokes though, the ducklett decided she had enough and climbed over Gwen's head and down onto her other shoulder to get away from it.
Gwen didn't try to push the cleaning on the Ducklett any further. It was still feral after all, and it was surprising enough that it was happy to perch on her at all. "We better get moving." Gwen said as she continued walking up the now muddy hill towards town. She really hoped she didn't run into anything else out here. With Sakura out, and Ignis not likely to do well in this weather, she didn't really have a lot of options for fighting off pokemon out here.
