"Home sweet home-- or at least, what's left of her." Kenna motioned to the building in front of her--the only one that seemed much damaged by the rampage in this area. Honestly, though, it... seemed like it probably didn't look that great even before a certain someone thought that fruitcake sounded delicious. The tarp-covered holes in the wall didn't help matters, of course, but the building was... Well, it looked-- piecemeal. Half of it was a two story building that looked a bit rickety for having only been around for twenty five years; the other, single-story half was made of slightly different stone, like it wasn't part of the initial building rush when the portal opened. Between the two portions was a third set of wall, different from each of its neighbors, and its own bit of roof separate from the rest of the ground-floor roofing. Aside from the holes in the wall it didn't look damaged, just... not terribly photogenic. Kenna motioned Endre to follow her inside one of the two front doors--there was one in each of the two halves of the building--and waved her hand at the debris in her shop. She'd started working on her own--there was already some bricks laid down at the bottom of the nearer hole, on the inside of the tarp. ...So that would make a fourth material that went into this building by the time that was done. The cobblestone floor had been swept, at least, but plenty of things remained broken and barely shoved to one side, or just thrown in the garbage bin as was the case with the remains of the fruitcake armor. "Luckily, thes is maist o' th' damage, 'ere. Maist o' mah floors an' ingredients waur gotten intae an aw, but there's nae fixin' they; mah ovens 'n' tools ur mostly unharmed, thocht, sae mostly Ah juist need a pure tough back." She turned to look at him with a smile and said, "Mah achin' muscles appreciate ye helpin' tae tak' 'at load aff o' mine.""Luckily, this is most of the damage, here. Most of my flours and ingredients were gotten into as well, but there's no fixing those; my ovens and tools are mostly unharmed, though, so mostly I just need a strong back."
"My aching muscles appreciate you helping to take that load off of mine." |

ENDRE For all that construction work had taken up a great portion of Endre's life, he had never directly considered himself 'a construction worker', nor did he think of himself as having any special knowledge of the field nor passion toward it. Certainly he'd picked up a lot of things through experience, various methods and tips for making certain processes go more smoothly and the like. And he did enjoy helping others, which was generally a package deal. But he never put any emphasis on that correlation.
Now, however, as he surveyed the chimera of a building-- buildings?-- Endre found himself shuddering briefly. Certainly he admired Kenna's hard work and sheer grit, but it-.. that.. center section, why-- In an alternate universe if Endre hadn't long had a sleeping Cutie Mark, he might have just gained one for construction work at this sudden realization of just how much of a damn he actually gave about this, for all that he really wished he didn't..
'...Actually, this is fine,' he told himself. 'It's clearly a marketing strategy. No one can possibly claim they didn't recognize the place. Yes.' At least telling himself that would help him continue to sleep at night if he ended up not 'fixing' it. And considering there was enough to repair without tearing down even more walls-- and, you know, that Kenna seemed fine with it and it was structurally sound, which was what really mattered anyway-- he really didn't want to get too invested in fixing it. Nor did he want anything interfering with his good night's sleep.
After Kenna's final remark, Endre offered a weak smile. "I'm just sorry mine won't be quite as useful as usual," he told her, a hand casually moving up to rub his injured shoulder. He'd just have to carry things on the other side until that had healed up a little more. Totally worth it to get the Armaldo off the street, though. "So where should we start?"
We..? Emrik gave a little internal groan. He really, really hoped this wasn't going to become a regular thing...

"O'er there,"* Kenna said, indicating an arbitrary bit of rubble. They set to work, and did things, and made progress. Literarily, it was pretty boring, and the author's having trouble posting at all after so long, so maybe let's just skip that. It was time for a break. Kenna whipped up some dough, though she wasn't sure exactly what she wanted to do with it yet. "Endre, hen, do you want sweet or savory pastries?" There wasn't a whole lot left of the ingredients for either, at the moment, but that would change once she had her store up and running again. And at any rate, there was enough to stuff some jelly or meat into dough and let it bake for a while. Simpler than her tastes usually ran, with baking, but... Eh. ((Partially so I don't have to deal with dialogue problems and partially because idk I feel like writing accent by emphasizing every single difference when we don't write out a lot of 'uh's and 'gonna's is a bit odd--what I'm saying is I'm going to tone down how much I write out her accent. It's still supposed to be thick, so I'm going to retain some, but you know... that was probably over-doing it, before.))
