Gwen had been pondering her next move, which was between searching for more Anorith, or beginning to work with the pokemon she had on her right now. At first she had thought about seeking more of the swarming bugs, but as Gwen walked through the mostly quiet streets, the only ones she found were already engaged by other trainers, and Gwen had no intention of butting in on another trainer's battle. The goal was to eliminate the swarm from the city after all, not fight over who got to do it. With little else to do, she had decided instead, to see what she could do about all those Anorith she had captured. In the midst of the swarm, even besides their feral nature, she didn't really have any opportunities to throw them into battle. Even besides the fact that they didn't understand a thing she said, logic dictated that they'd be more likely to want to help their swarming colony, not fight against them. Logic sucked sometimes. Whatever the case though, it seemed to make more sense to try and win the pokemon over with a more peaceful display. Which was why she had taken the liberty of purchasing a grilled corka. Nothing broke the ice like a good meal right? Unfortunately though, the offering would probably only be a good meal for one, but Gwen had one particular Anorith in mind. If any of her pokemon deserved a good meal right now, it was probably the female anorith she had knocked off a roof top while in the process of capturing it. Gwen plucked the Anorith's ball from it's clip and enlarged it. Where best to do this was a bit of a debate, but considering the possible damage a feral anorith could do to a room at the Inn, doing this outside seemed the better choice. Pressing the button, Gwen released the Anorith. "Hello, I know we--" Gwen begun as gently as possible, but cut off mere seconds, because the Anorith hadn't even tried to listen. The second it caught sight of her, it turned around and bolted in the opposite direction. Gwen ran after the Anorith as it headed down an alleyway. She had little issue keeping up with it. She had very long legs, and the Anorith was a lot smaller. She didn't run to grab it though, instead keeping pace with it, remaining a couple feet behind. "I have food! Hungry?" Gwen offered, waving the box holding it as they ran. The Anorith could probably smell it, but Gwen could tell it didn't particularly care at this moment. From here, a few things could happen. Firstly, it was possible the Anorith would take a bad turn and end up running into a dead end, and remain cornered. Unfortunately, cornering a pokemon wasn't exactly the most ideal way to show it you were sorry and meant it no harm. Another possibility was that it would find a place to hide under. A pokemon could still feel cornered in a hiding place, but it was probably better than trapping it in an alleyway. Option three, they ran until it was tired out. Of anything that could happen, tired out was probably the best case scenerio. She wouldn't necessarily have to trap it, and the Anorith would have to submit. Unfortunately, though two of three possibilities were workable, Gwen just wasn't having much luck today. The Anorith turned down another alleyway, approaching a dead end. Gwen slowed down a bit, expecting the bug to stop once it reached the end, only to be reminded of one fact: that particular Anorith could climb. Without hesitation the Anorith dug it's claws into the wooden fencing and began hauling itself up. The fence was a fairly tall one, reaching well over even Gwen's head. The effort of scaling it, took a lot out of the Anorith, and before it could reach the top, it lost it's grip. "Screeeeee!" The Anorith screeched in alarm as it, for the second time that day was plummeting to the ground. What she landed on however, wasn't the same hard earth she had landed on before, but instead, a much softer squishier... more alive. "Scree!" The Anorith cried out in alarm as it realized it had landed right in Gwendolyn's arms and she lashed out with a claw before squirming her way back onto her feet fleeing to the corner. Gwendolyn made no move to stop the Anorith as it retreated to the corner of the fence, not that she really desired to hold onto it after it had delivered a fair scratch to her cheek which was now bleeding. "Well, I didn't let you fall this time." Gwen said still being as gentle as possible despite the Anorith attacking her for saving it. She knew the thing was scared, but hopefully it realized to some degree that she had just helped it. Sitting down, she reached over and grabbed the box with the corka meat in it, that she had dropped when she had practically dived to catch the Anorith. Opening up, she found the meat was still in good, edible condition, even if the box was a little crumpled. "Food?" She said again, picking up the cooked meat in a napkin and holding it out as far as she could towards the Anorith. The Anorith continued to stare fearfully at her from where she stood. It's pincers shifted tentatively, but it still made no move to take the food. She's... too suspicious. Gwen thought as she brought the food back towards herself. Maybe if it saw her take a bite? It couldn't say it was poison if she ate a piece of it. While the anorith was still watching, Gwen took a small bite. "Yummy!" She said in exaggerated delight. "Eat?" She said, reaching over again, this time setting the remainder of the Corka on the ground, on top of the napkin. Anorith still eyed Gwendolyn suspiciously, and it couldn't really decide how it felt about Gwen eating the food in front of her. It was food, she knew that. It smelled like food at least. When the now bitten into meat was offered, Anorith struggled between fear and hunger, and her claws dug into the ground with more urgancy as she weighed the two feelings, before finally diving for the piece of meat and quickly pulling it back into her corner to feast, though she still kept her eyes glued on Gwen. "Good!" Gwen said as cheerfully as possible, hoping the Anorith could understand the positive tone of her voice, even if she didn't know what the word meant yet. Gwen kept her distance while the bug devoured the meat, and only once the bug was satisfied enough to toss away the bones, did she pull out the anorith's poke ball and return it. She then picked up the discarded bones and napkin, stuffing them back in the box for later disposal, before she turned and headed back down the alley way. The anorith was clearly far full recovery and it still showed fear towards her, but Gwen thought this was a fair step in the right direction. ----------- ~ Gwen caught the falling Anorith(5) this time! +TP? ~ Gwen got scratched for her efforts! ~ Gwen shared a grilled corka with Anorith(5)! +Taming skill for Taming progress? +1 TP for all pokemon in party | |
