No need for spawning or anything. It was just a one-shot that happened to come to mind and I figured would give some insight into a developmentt between the two.
Can I get a few connection points and maybe a happiness point for Aurora, though? And anything else yeah.
A familiar ‘thunk’ hit the table, and Jasper sighed glancing up from the book he had been reading to stare at a certain blue friend he had acquired but a few days prior. Curled with her knees pressed up to her chest and two front paws cupping her nose, Aura whined pathetically rubbing what she’d apparently hit on the table. “You know you’re not supposed to be practicing in the house, Aura,” Jasper noted glancing down at his book again only briefly pausing to watch as his Riolu released her nose and shook her head. A strange half-yip escaped from Aurora- a protest to being ridiculed or so Jasper could only assume. “I already told you not to,” was the forcibly calm note as Jasper tried hard not to use a tone with her that came more naturally when speaking to younger family members.
In the past few days- had it really been a week or more?- Jasper had come to realize quite a number of things about his Riolu- her pickiness for names, food, and where she slept- which was preferably curled up next to him rather than in her pokeball at night for some strange reason. However, one thing he had yet to fully understand was why at some moments, she would listen and obey him like a loyal guard dog while in other moments… she’d do things like this: completely ignore him and do what she wanted even when it caused detriment to her and her surroundings. He supposed she was just being a child, and considering she was a hatchling as far as he could tell, it wasn’t too blind an assessment. However, it still didn’t resolve her issues- which he had no idea of how to. Certainly he could more or less use her pokeball to force her to do what he wanted- but that… felt too extreme. He wished she would simply willingly listen to him.
Was that too much to ask?
The sound of a body forcing itself up and the brief sight of the small blue form standing once again in her now familiar fighting stance told him it was. That would be thrice … or maybe even four times now that he had told her to stop. “Aura,” Jasper’s voice was a tad sterner than before as the doctor set the book down completely to look at her. The Riolu glanced sideways, her red eyes meeting his purple ones in a surprisingly pleading look, and it was only then that he realized that she needed to do something, needed to play or train or something. A guilt set into his stomach, and it would be Jasper’s eyes that faltered first.
Jasper bit his lip as this realization smacked the side of his head not once but a few times over, and slowly the doctor exhaled trying to keep calm despite the overwhelming urge to face/desk repeatedly. Glancing back again to meet her questioning stare, Jasper managed a small smile. “Shall we go outside, then?” was the question. The Riolu’s eyes practically sparkled at the thought, and suddenly she was bouncing upon the pads of her feet, her front paws clapping together in that familiar excitement that brought a slow and steady smile to Jasper’s face. She was lively, he would give her that always and forever… just a little bundle of energy. Like the Portal. Jasper snorted at his own humor.
“Alright...” the doctor mused about to say something more before Aurora had disappeared from his sights. “Au- …?” the doctor had started the question but didn’t get a chance to finish as the RIolu came back with his jacket across her outstretched arms and held it forwards staring at him. Ah. A small half-chuckle escaped from Jasper. Bending down to take up the jacket, Jasper set it upon his shoulders, sliding his arms through the sleeves. He’d been about to reach down and pat her on the head thereafter when Jasper found his hand suddenly seized between two puppy paws, and before he had a chance to ask what she was doing, Aura had turned and was practically dragging him through the house using all the force of her tiny muscular body to ensure he was on the move. “Aura!” was the nearly startled shout- followed by a few ‘bangs’.
Freed from the house, Aurora was on the move now dragging her trainer down the street heading as quickly as she could- in any direction that really caught her eye in that moment. It was only as “Aura stop,” hit her ears –only after her trainer had said it a number of times- that the Riolu finally did stop and briefly glanced back to her trainer who was now huffing more than a little exhausted from the sheer run to keep up with her. “You’re going to yank my shoulder out of socket if you continue…” the doctor started and was about to give a lecture when something shiny caught Aura’s eye, and all too quickly she was bounding off without Jasper. The man groaned reaching a free hand up to rub at his temple. What had he gotten himself in to?
“Aura! Come back,” Jasper called finding the phrase far too familiar for his liking. The Riolu, however, ignored him and went bounding up into one of the market stalls knocking over a table in her pursuit of the shiny- earrings as it was now. The doctor groaned jogging the short distance to finally seize the arm of his Riolu as she was about to pick up the very thing that had caught her eye. “AURORA,” Jasper snapped, his temper getting the better of him. The Riolu froze, the feeling of being more than in trouble hitting her. “Look what you’ve done,” Jasper growled making a hand gesture to the clearly messed up things. “Young lady you will help clean this up or so help me,” Jasper continued only to pause upon seeing the Riolu’s ears almost flat against her head somehow, a clear look of fear at his temper on her features. The aura sensing organs at the side of her face were standing on end, and she was more than aware that he was not only displeased but… disappointed even farther down. She said nothing but turned and ran rather quickly shortly thereafter.
Jasper sighed deeply now more irritated at himself than Aurora as he watched her disappear. As much as he wanted to chase after her in that moment, he instead turned and helped the merchant whose table his Riolu had flipped over clean up- apologizing all the way. It took a while but slowly after, Jasper turned and started down the path he had last seen Aurora go. “Aura? Aura where are you? Come out!” his voice was a tad hoarse, but Jasper continued to call. Purple eyes flashed here and there as he went down the streets looking for her, and nearly an hour passed with no fruit.
Then, just as he was about to give up, a familiar blue tail caught the slate haired man’s eyes. Sticking out from behind a set of trash cans, the tail twitched a little. Jasper let out a sigh of relief, but just as he was about to approach, the thought that she would take off running again caught hold, and Jasper paused uncertain of what to do. It was technically her fault… she had caused all the damage, yet he couldn’t bring himself to completely blame her for all that had happened. If maybe had taken her out earlier, maybe if he had specified where they were going, she might not have accidentally changed directions and gone into the mess. A small pang of guilt went through the man. He was older, and he should have considered those things before enticing her to go inside. She was a child, and he had already had a few days experience of her nature. He should have expected that… he should have… More guilt, sigh. Purple eyes closed, and Jasper sighed. ”Aura, can you hear me?”
Meanwhile the Riolu was indeed on the other side of the trash cans, her body curled up and leaned against them shaking a little. It was as the voice hit her ears that red eyes snapped open and her senses opened to the world around her- the feeling of aura radiating in the area most certainly Jasper now that she thought of it. How long he had been there, she knew not, yet fear jumped into her veins regardless. She wanted to move, to run away from his eyes and whatever reprimand he was ready to speak, but just as she was about to move, her senses gave her a different insight. She…she knew that feeling radiation off Jasper in the form of aura but.. but not from him... She knew it from inside… the feeling of something she knew not what to put into words. Sinking her puppy teeth into her maw, the Riolu breathed in deeply before slowly standing up and turning around the trash cans, her eyes focused on Jasper who wasn’t even looking then, his eyes still closed.
In a split second decision, the Riolu moved, using a burst of speed that was not quite a Quick Attack to bound at Jasper’s leg and cling it tightly, nearly knocking him over briefly before he managed to steady himself. The sudden constriction of his lower leg and knee caused Jasper to flinch before glancing down to see his clinging pup. Though neither said anything, Jasper slowly bent down, and Aurora slowly let go of his leg only to then cling his chest burying her face therein. “Olu,” she murmured, her tone more emotional than apologetic. Jasper just sighed and wrapped his arms tighter around her. “Me too…” he mumbled into her fur gently making to pick her up thereafter.
They ended up not going directly home but instead on a rather long round-about walk in silence together. In a way, Aurora had got what she wanted- a chance to go out and see the various things more closely than ever before, and Jasper… found that it had been a long time since he’d been able to hold something … someone this small. It was … nice if… yeah, it was just nice.
