MORGAN Travel log January 26th, 26 A.P. (Year 1 of the board) Early Afternoon
* * * * *
So, they were leaving Port City. Morgan was doing so for the first time in...too many years. Still, Morgan had some pretty good Pokémon, right? Yeah, this was going to be fine. She glanced over at Doctor Stone. She enjoyed when he came over to talk books, but she hadn't actually been reading much lately, so she had no idea what to talk about... Well, she supposed-- "So, Doctor Stone... Have you read anything interesting lately?"

For the last few minutes, Jasper had considered calling Aura out of her pokeball to walk alongside him. He had taken note that she sometimes appeared to be readily aware of others around her even before he was, a trait he linked to her aura reading capacity, yet sometimes… that didn’t happen and she still got spooked and sometimes even barked during that time- which he found cute in a way. Anyways, if there was trouble, however, might not she be able to detect it quicker? Then again, he didn’t want to wear her out too much with walking either- considering for each step he took, she took around three, and he really didn’t have the strength to carry her the entire way.
The question from Morgan cut into Jasper’s thoughts, and for a brief moment, he had no idea what was asked. “Hm?” he resounded glancing at her as they walked in an effort to try and bring up in his mind what might have been recorded as less focused thoughts. “Oh-“ was the second note of sound. “I’ve recently finished a non-fiction book delving into what is known of aura,” he noted shortly glancing forwards again. “Honestly, I had never considered studying it in depth before- considering we know only bits and pieces of it from ancient human aura users and the aura pokemon family of Lucario. However, acquiring Aurora has caused me to stop and consider how it could possibly be put into medical practice,” he explained.

MORGAN Morgan cocked her head to one side at Stone's answer. "Aurora?" she asked, "Who's that, then? ...I guess it would be a Riolu, given the aura bit, wouldn't it. Well, ah, congratulations." Morgan didn't add the rest of her thought, 'What am I even doing here then?' Oh, well, he had paid her in advance, and it was Doctor Stone. If it had been much of anyone else... Well, at any rate, they were now out in...this didn't really qualify as the 'wilderness,' did it? It was certainly a bit more wild than the cities themselves, but it was hardly uncharted territory. Still, she figured she should probably be more on her guard--and probably avoid helping defenseless Pokémon who were about to be eaten, even if the liklihood of an entire horde becoming enraged again was unlikely...

If Morgan had met Aurora already, she probably would have understood the –ahem- few problems that kept Jasper from trekking alone even on less than uncharted paths. However, without that, it probably did seem weird didn’t it? Jasper wouldn’t make this conclusion right away, though. Instead a mindful “thank you,” would be what the doctor replied back with.
“She’s a bit headstrong…” He half laughed knowing that wasn’t even the half of it when it came to Aurora. A ‘bit’ was probably more like a ‘lot’. “And very particular,” the doctor half shook his head briefly dispelling the irritation that threatened to come from that thought. Aurora was more than just particular about her name as had been the case the first day. He found that in almost everything she desired things to be a certain way- which given the one-sided language barrier, it was difficult at best. For a brief moment he thought to add ‘but at least she doesn’t set me on fire’, but as readily as the thought came, a lump formed in his throat and Jasper found himself staring forwards again.
Jasper’d been doing better, or so he told himself, anyways. Having a pokemon again had certainly caused him to be more active than before. While at one point, he could hide out in his room or office alone to foster his depression in solitude, Jasper found this was more than a little difficult with a pokemon around. Even when he had her in her pokeball, some part of Jasper felt as though Aurora could readily hear him- and while he could put her pokeball away somewhere, a part of him didn’t have the heart to. It was a strange mix of feelings that he couldn’t quite sort out even after being asked to by the…therapist. However, there were moments that it still readily bothered him, this being one of them, and in the pocket of his coat, Jasper’s hand twitched fingers running over themselves as if in some form of self-comforting gesture.

MORGAN Morgan nodded along as her companion talked, and responded, "I see," even though she didn't really see at all. After a few moments Stone didn't look like he'd talk again, so Morgan said, "I suppose my Hoothoot is rather bold too, though that's come out more in a..." She looked away and waved a hand in the air as if she'd pull the word she was looking for out of it. "A want for action over sitting idly, and a distaste for bookish names. That--that's better than my Shuppet, though. She's cute, and great, but she's just... so calm about everything, it's really quite creepy." She shrugged. "She just smiles as she attacks, and floats slowly over, then at the drop of a hat can Screech something--or someone--to hell and back."

Imperial purple eyes glanced sideways as Morgan conjured up a word, and for a brief moment humor at the word conjure in general nearly made him laugh. A want for action over sitting idly? Impulsive or just active? his mind questioned though Jasper didn’t voice it instead paying attention as she went on to describe her Shuppet. He probably shouldn’t have laughed, but a chuckle forced itself from the doctor’s throat regardless. The thought of how many would probably jump at being Screeched from behind- himself included- was strangel---
Oh. Well, depending on how loud the Screech was, that could actually be a problem for someone’s eardrums now couldn’t it? Jasper’s lips pressed together causing a flat line to transpire on his features. Ear problems were not a laughing matter, not at all. Considering the cochlea managed not only sound but balance, damage to the deeper parts of one’s ear could damage balance which only affected other things and made for a vicious cycle. “I your Shuppet doesn’t Screech at you…” he noted before giving the explanation as to why, delving into the explanation of the parts of the ear in the process.

MORGAN Morgan shook her head no, that Shuppet didn't Screech at her directly anyway, but didn't have a chance to voice any of that or elaborate at all before Stone started going into why that would have been so bad. She listened patiently, with an "I see," or "Is that so? I hadn't realized," or the like here and there. She felt a bit guilty for having enjoyed the effect Mal's Screech had had on Sera, in hindsight. Sure, she didn't like the girl, but her talk was only that--she didn't actually wish harm on her. Bad luck, sure, and irritation--but of course! But real, actual harm? Morgan wasn't that vile. She did eventually get to say, "Well, I did tell Mal to go easier on the screeches, and she's only ever directed them at enemies, anyway. Still, I think I'll ask her to tone it down a bit more... I think the effect should still work without it being quite so loud." She shrugged. "Still, the main part of the creepiness of that is how she looks so serene one moment, and then is a--well--a screaming banshee the next, unsurprisingly. And I do like creepy things, but it's... still something of a double-edged sword."

While the two trainers talked about Arceus knows what, there was a bit of... adorable commotion going on up ahead. As Morgan made her statement about liking "creepy" things, some high-pitched squeaks became audible. Off to the side, a gorgeously groomed Buneary rolled around in the short grass with a rather scrawny-looking Bunnelby. The two were playing with the other's ears and rubbing noses, it was on the verge of cuteness overload. They completely flew past the boundary when the Bunnelby stood up, picked a large white dandelion (that's what it looked like anyway), and gingerly placed it on the Buneary's ear. A tiny shriek of joy escaped her as she tackled the other back to the ground. An oddly human-like interaction, but still, it was adorable.
Of course, this was Mi-aro, so that couldn't have been it. Nope.
Just as the bunnies fell to the ground, a creature sprung up. It uncoiled its body in a lightning fast motion, its purple head stopped right above the mammals. "EKANSSS!" Its yellow eyes and stripes flashed red as it hissed. The tiny Bunnelby did not take a moment longer to wrap its friend in its ears and arms then zoom away from the snake and towards the trainers. As soon as it realized the people there, which seemed much more intimidating than the snake, the bunny u-turned to the right. Dust clouds flew up as it slid to a halt. Yet another Ekans had appeared and was already glaring into its preys' eyes.
They're surrounded and about to get eaten. Will the trainers save them?? There is that whole interfering with nature thing, but, c'mon, there's no way Morgan can break the plains too right? Especially not with a doctor around! Well, maybe she can, she is Morgan after all. Ah well, it's up to you.

MORGAN As Morgan finished, there was a noise to her left, and Morgan couldn't help but look at the bunny pair, nor a smile come to her lips at their antics. Aaaand of course there was an Ekans. The Bunnelby even ran towards them, and they unwittingly blocked its path to escape and-- Closing her eyes and sighing heavily, Morgan said, "I don't think those Ekans will be a danger to us if we leave them alone, Doctor Stone. However, if you feel threatened or whatever, I can battle them if you wish." She...honestly wasn't sure which answer she dreaded more.

The squeaks caused Jasper’s vision to shift, and briefly the sight of the pair of rabbit pokemon playing drew a subtle smile to the slate haired man’s features. Since raising his siblings, he’d grown an appreciation of the innocence that could come of younglings, and even though they were far from human younglings, the rabbit pokemon at play radiated that feeling. What transpired shortly thereafter caused imperial purple eyes to drop a little as if to give privacy to the sentimental moment. The hissing cry of the snake pokemon shot Jasper’s gaze back up again rapidly, just in time to catch the bunny pokemon darting th- no don’t run this way! Jasper’s mouth twitched, an uncomfortable feeling coming to him as yet another Ekans appeared.
Morgan’s words on the subject caused Jasper to glance sideways, his stomach tighter than normal. While it was natural and all, the pokemon originally at play were practically children. Jasper bit his lip glancing at the two snakes before taking a breath in. “I….think a battle would be appropriate for the situation…” he replied finding his lips pressed heavily together as he thought on the subject. Was that the correct choice? Jasper didn’t know, but sitting around idly wasn’t something he was comfortable with. Briefly purpose eyes scanned the area wondering if there were any more snakes hidden among the grasses.
