MORGAN Travel log January 26th, 26 A.P. (Year 1 of the board) Mid-Morning
* * * * * Morgan herself hadn't been hurt too badly herself when the Anorith invaded. Even her Pokémon were fine, after being healed up again. They... they were left in their Pokéballs for most of that time. Morgan knew that the balls put them in a sort of stasis, and she still wasn't sure exactly what all of them were supposed to eat. Sure, she gave them Corka, and they seemed all right with that, but she didn't want them to get sick, but she was also a little...agoraphobic, as of late. What with all the Anorith that were her fault. She never had admitted that to anyone, least of all not her father, but she had said that she'd seen it happen and was nearly killed by the Armaldo (only a little bit of an exaggeration). She'd gotten off the hook for a while about being a productive member of society, but he'd mentioned that her convalescence period should be rather long past after nearly a whole month. So it was time to do something, again. Morgan stayed well within the city, this time. Sure, it was uncomfortable with all these people. Not as uncomfortable as Anorith's pincers in her leg. She actually did still see one skitter by, but it was preoccupied and far enough away that it only bothered her via another twinge of guilt. Any...way... She thought she'd seen a "Help Wanted" sign, somewhere. Was it a general store? Or wait, should she be in the Global Market? No, she didn't really go there much. Maybe she'd see a different job open for her while wandering around looking for the one she remembered, it's not like jobs were exactly scarce. Hopefully she'd only need Mal and Raptor for this job, whatever it was. She'd brought along "Tide" anyhow, since that was supposed to help them become tamed... somehow... but Morgan really preferred not to have a repeat of the Anorith battle, considering how poorly he did. He did get off that one Water Gun, but... Eh. He also leveled, so that was also really nice... but he wouldn't be levelling again in just the one battle, which was less nice.

In the last month alone, Jasper Stone had learned a number of things. Having read through a number of books on aura alongside his medical text books and a few literature pieces that he could get his hands on, the doctor had also learned one of life’s many lessons: though he now had a pokemon, and though she was quite stunningly useful at many things, Aurora could not completely handle the wild pokemon that infested his traveling route- or even those that had infested the town for a while. She was still young and while far from fragile, the Riolu was still inexperienced and could not handle numbers of pokemon at once.
A few events that shall remain vague but notably undesirable had transpired the first time Jasper had taken to traveling out to New Pallet again, and before long he had found himself forced all the way back to Port City. Poor Aurora didn’t even want to remember what had happened and had since blocked it from her mind- or at least seemed to do so considering whenever Jasper referenced it, she gave him a look of surprised confusion. Anyhow, Jasper had come to the realization that until his Riolu was strong enough, he would continue to need to enlist the aid of Mercenaries, and while this dipped into his pockets a little more than he would have liked, there was nothing he could readily do to change it.
Thus, like usual, Jasper had put a wanted paper up on the town bulletin board noting that he needed an escort or two to take him to New Pallet. However, the wind had robbed the bulletin board of the wanted paper, sending it sailing through the air and twisting it about. As Morgan walked, the air above her would finally release the flyer and send it cascading down onto her head- if she didn’t catch it first, anyways.
Written in bold on the top of the flyer was the usual “Wanted” lettering across the front followed by a series of smaller sentences describing the assignment and who it was for and where to find him if one was interested. At the very end, the note that Mercenaries would be paid half up front and half when they got there was in bold for some reason. Oh look Mogan a strangely convenient job!

MORGAN Morgan hadn't noticed anything in particular being blown about in the wind, until the paper came and hit her in the face. She stood stock-still for a moment, the page fluttering on her face, sliding slowly to one side. She managed to catch it before it blew away, intending to throw it in the 'proper trash receptacle.' However, the bolded portion caught her eye... So she stopped and read the flyer. Oh, look, Doctor Stone! ... ... ... ...Well, Sera had gone to New Pallet and back relatively unscathed, according to Morgan's father. It was a proper job, and would be experience, to boot. Morgan did an about-face and made for the address listed on the flyer. It... took her a few wrong turns, true, but she eventually did get there. "Doctor Stone?" she asked loudly, looking around the nondescript place.

The address happened to be the rather small but useful office Jasper came and went from daily there in Port City. Though he often spent more time out of it actually going to his patients’ houses for the most part and though he was sometimes completely gone from the city in general, it served as a place Jasper had kept a regular phone up till getting his X-Gear and a place people could come in when he wasn’t out. With surprisingly good luck, Morgan had managed to catch him while in the office sitting behind a desk where a secretary probably should have been and reading a newspaper. Glancing up as the bell above the door rang and a familiar voice reached his ears, Jasper paused in surprise to find the familiar sight of Ms. Morgan, the young woman he sometimes switched books with at their informal book club meetings, standing there.
“Good morning Ms. Lysandre-Fay,” Jasper greeted in his normal formal way that wasn’t quite monotone. Setting the paper down on the table and pushing himself back form the table, he stood up slowly. “What may I help you with today?” was the baseline question that escaped into the air as the doctor glanced over the young woman wondering what seemed to be the problem- because you know people didn’t walk into a doctor’s office to say hi most of the time. Well, there were a couple of times wherein his siblings had brought him lunch, but that was not applicable at the moment. The thought that Morgan was there to respond to his message didn’t even come to mind then and there due to his doctorness taking precedence.

MORGAN Morgan jumped a bit as he greeted her in return. Huh. She'd known him for...how many years?...and had never realized Dr. Stone actually had an office. Strange. Either way, she managed to recover in time to bow her head a bit and return a "Morning," to him without too much delay, even if he'd already started on his next question. "Ah, actually," she said, moving forward and waving the paper she still held, "I'm here to see if I can help you. I, eh... saw this flyer, advertising your want of an escort to New Pallet, and I'm officially a Mercenary now, so..." She rubbed the back of her neck and looked up at the ceiling as she continued. "I'm not the most experienced mercenary--I haven't actually been outside of Port City, yet. But still, I've got three Pokémon with me--well, ah. One of them's still... pretty feral, but he's proved--well--not entirely useless in a fight, anyway?" She paused to look at him with an uneasy smile, then cleared her throat and finished, "So, right, that's what I'm here about. ...Sir." Oh, yes, Morgan. That is the best way to get a job. Still, she was fairly sure Stone preferred ugly truths to pretty lies, right? Or had she made that up...

As Morgan explained why she was there, the doctor found himself a little more than surprised at first. It wasn’t that he hadn’t known at some point Morgan had become a Mercenary so much that she was willing to-… well that wasn’t quite a good reason for being surprised either, he supposed. He didn’t doubt she would be willing to with a money incentive always being present but ahm…Where was he going with that thought? Jasper fought the urge to shake his head at himself and instead tried to pay more attention to what was being said.
Three pokemon with one of them being feral but at least somewhat useful, was it? That was still two more pokemon than he had, Jasper had to admit, and indeed he did prefer truth to lies, especially when it came to people who didn’t tell him everything about their medical history. Anyways, a small smile came to the man’s lips after a moment. “I see,” he replied with a promptly prepared statement giving himself just enough time to find something else to say. “That will work well then; I would appreciate your company to New Pallet,” he replied a bit more. “I planned on leaving sometime this week- though would you consider heading out in about an hour or so? I need a little time to prepare my belongings for the trip but I would like to get there as soon as possible.” It had been a little under a month since he had been there, and though Jasper was aware of his father’s movements and knew the man was at least somewhere in the New Pallet area, that didn’t mean he didn’t want to see the patients there for himself.

MORGAN "Oh good," Morgan couldn't help saying when Stone had accepted her... spiel. "I can definitely do that, sir! Should I meet you here again in an hour's time, then?" Her smile was much more genuine this time, even if she was anxious at the thought of going into the wild. At his affirmative response, Morgan nodded and said, "All right, I'll see you then, sir!" and left. In the following hour, Morgan did...a whole lot of nothing. She went to a general store to buy a potion, but remembered that she'd left her money at home. There wasn't time to run to get it, so she walked aimlessly instead. She found a large public fountain, and let "Tide" out (his name would be in quotations in her head until he confirmed it was cool, she swore to Arceus) into the fountain's waters. Then she noticed the time, and saw that she had only about five minutes to get to Doctor Stone's office. She hurriedly recalled the Tirtouga and tried to remember the way while running--in much more sensible shoes than on... that day, at least. Bursting back into the office at a barely-restrained run, she called out, "Sorry I'm late!" before even checking the time again, because she'd figured there was no way she'd made it back in less than five minutes.

Jasper had given a simple nod back in response to Morgan’s question before briefly watching her leave and from there starting to pack what he needed. Checking over his medical kit and then storing the potions and, after a moment of thought, the pokeballs he had acquired from Ms. Nguyen, Jasper paused for a moment trying to decide what else he needed. Fishing through his office belongings, he came across six pieces of string and decided to pack that as well- and oh, maybe this leather and fabric as well. Ah, maybe he should take his new Tool Bag and its contents (both given and more recently purchased items) as well. Putting everything away carefully organize them efficiently, Jasper gave a brief nod to himself when he was sure everything was in order. Good.
It seemed it had managed to take Jasper just under an hour to get everything ready, so the doctor sat down and fished up a book again as he waited on Morgan. It was only when the young woman came through the door that he glanced up again- much like he had when she first entered, that same calm expression and everything. Her apologies only earned a small smile. “No worries, I’m not in that big of a hurry,” – a few minutes of the hour wouldn’t be that big a deterrent now would it? Standing up and picking up the bangs he had decided to carry and making sure he had Aurora’s –yes he’d learned she had indeed liked the name and went so far as to try and speak it in her own puppy tongue so many times that he finally understood what she meant- pokeball before stepping forwards.
It only hit Jasper shortly thereafter that he needed to pay Morgan half of what had been offered on the wanted flyer before they left. Normally other Mercenaries would remind him of that. “Oh, right," he mumbled to himself briefly fishing out his wallet and the exact amount. “Here is half, and you’ll receive the second half when we get into New Pallet- does that sound alright?” he asked pausing to allow Morgan a chance to speak and take the money that was now extended to her before continuing. “Shall we go then?”

MORGAN Morgan let out a sigh of relief at the doctor's response at her tardiness--or rather, his lack of one. Well, not total lack, but the problem was brushed aside, at any rate. That was good enough for her. She'd been ready to follow him out the door when he remembered the terms of the flier. It took her a moment of blinking before she took it and said, "Ah, right! Yes, thank you, sorry. Yes, uh, that's fine, Doctor Stone." After turning to stuff the money in a zipping pocket of her messenger bag, she answered his final question with "Yes, let's."
[I...guess that's thread close then? I'll edit title to show lack of mod-ness and make a new topic on Rt. 1 then. :B]
