January, First Week I really need to buy a tool bag. Lugging around this pole is starting to look a little silly, Bianca thought idly as she strolled along. Not that she cared that much if she looked silly, but still. There was no real way to shove this thing in her ordinary bag, so she was stuck with the bag over her shoulder and fishing pole in her hand as she headed away from the market. And nine long 100ft pieces of string sitting in her bag, which she knew would make her look all the more bizarre were they visible at the moment. The store clerk had certainly looked at her like she was out of her mind. It was worse when he'd actually gotten up the nerve to ask her what she wanted all the string for. "Why, for tying things up with, of course."Maybe she shouldn't have winked after saying that. Bianca was pretty sure she broke him. Bela had given her quite the stare, too, though probably for very different reasons. Oh well. On to business. And by 'business,' she meant, 'trying to find kitties.' Bianca would rather not leave town without a full team of six pokemon, so she was going to find some. There were plenty who lived in and around Port City, and she knew what species tended to hang around. Her mind kept going back to that purrloin she'd been offered as a starter, and they weren't the only purple cats that hung around town. Sleek, graceful glameow, little fuzzy espurr... Well, actually, espurr were a teeny bit creepy, and sort of ticking psychic time bombs, but it wasn't their fault, and meowstic were so pretty. And a psychic would help cover a couple of the weakness of her starting pokemon. Couldn't forget that. She had to think like a trainer now, not a crazy cat lady. Think like a trainer, think like a trainer, think about things other than how fuzzy-wuzzy a pokemon is.Of course, the first step in thinking like a trainer would be thinking strategically, which was why she turned her attention to the tiny pink bird perched on her shoulder. "Rosa, mi amiga," she cooed, which made the spritzee perk up and twitter at her. Bianca chuckled a little; she'd been trying to use her Spanish a little more with them than she usually would to get them used to it. "I don't suppose you'd like to help me round up some members for our team?"They were moving a bit away from the hustle and bustle, closer to the outskirts of town. Rosa gave an enthusiastic tweet and nodded her whole body. "Bueno!" Bianca said with a laugh as she patted the bird's head with her free hand. Bela gave a small hiss from where she was trotting at her trainer's heels, and gave her a look that eloquently said 'what about me?' "Oh, don't worry, mi gatita. You'll get in on the action, too. Rosa's the one who's going to lure them in, but you'll both spring the trap."She found a fairly comfortable place to sit down, and she plunked down on the ground cross-legged before setting down her pole and bag. Bela didn't hesitate in scampering over to hop onto one of those crossed legs and smile up at her trainer. Bianca chuckled and scratched her lightly behind her feathered ear. "Okay, so this is how we're going to do this. Rosa, you know Sweet Scent, and you can fly, so I want you to scout out the area from the air, and see if you can draw in some pokemon with that nice smell of yours."Rosa considered this, then nodded and twittered. Bianca smiled and continued, "If you can lure them over here one at a time, then Bela--" She tilted her head in the direction of the sneasel, who perked up eagerly. "--Can swoop in with a surprise attack to knock them off-balance, and then you can both take them down two-on-one." Teamwork was key here, but she was confident they could do it. Rosa gave the most adorable little salute with one wing and soon took off to fly a slow circle above her trainer's head. "I'm looking for a few in particular. You know what glameow and espurr look like, right?" There was an affirmative tweet. "I'd really like to capture those. Purrloin, too. And if you see a wing--" Rosa suddenly swooped away, a determined look on her face, and Bianca was left to finish dully with, "...Gull." Oh well, she could always repeat that addition to the list when she came back with the first pokemon. She shook her head a little with a chuckle. "Eager, isn't she?" she commented to Bela. Bela tilted her head a little and gave a small chatter, her tone seeming to mean 'what's wrong with that?' That or, 'she is?,' but Bianca thought the former was the greater possibility due to the fact that Bela seemed to be examining her claws to ensure their sharpness. "Nothing wrong with that, though," she assured the sneasel, offering her another scratch behind the ear. She who had not squealed with delight over getting her starting pokemon could cast the first stone, there, really. But it was down to other business, now. And by 'other business,' she meant 'the mind-numbingly tedious task of turning numerous strands of string into a proper rope.' She reached into her bag, grasped three of the strings, and pulled them out. She thanked Arceus for her slender, dexterous fingers--as if she didn't regularly thank him for everything, but a few extra 'thank yous' for specific things couldn't hurt--as she went about taking the ends of all three of them and starting to twine them together. Bianca knew this was useful practice for skills she'd probably need out in the wilderness, but that didn't make it less boring.
Bianca is slowly twining together String x 3. This'll probably take a while. Especially since Progression is one of her Secondary Negative Skills.Current Party: Looking for:

"Ket ket!" quacked an especially loud Ducklett that flew past the Spritzee. The blue, duck-like Pokemon flew back around and stared curiously at the Pokemon. It flapped its wings in place then released a loud quack in her face. It was probably a bit territorial, especially considering that it was carrying a tiny Shellder in its webbed feet. These Pokemon were used to protecting their turf and meals. Ducklett quacked again, this time more aggressively. Between the duck Pokemon's feet, the Shellder was slowly slipping its way out of its predator's grasp and with a lick to the Pokemon's feet, it slid out and fell right into the hands of a Glameow.
Never was a more arrogant Pokemon discovered. Glameow snickered at the bird Pokemon's bickering and began to paw at the Shellder who was so paralyzed with fear that it could not move. Bright blue eyes caught the image of a woman and her Sneasel sitting on a bench. The cat smirked and crouched down, its tail shot up and began to wave around like a snake. This was odd because the tail actually almost looked entirely like a skinny snake. It wasn't entirely purple like the rest of the Pokemon's fur. Instead, it faded from a lighter purple in the base to an increasingly darker black, there were four yellow rings on the tail as well. The poof at the end was also black, but sported two bright yellow spots. The Pokemon evolved this trait to paralyze its prey with fear.
Obviously, Glameow was one of the few apex predators of the area, and it was ready to fight.

Rosa fluttered back in the air away from the ducklett, trying her best to look non-aggressive. Not that she was afraid, but she knew her trainer had no interest in such a creature. Her eyes followed the shellder as it fell, and when she realized what caught it, her course of action seemed very clear. She'd have to remove herself from this situation and engage the primary target in the area.
Rosa swooped down to try to quickly fly underneath and past the larger bird, flapping her little wings to try to get back to her trainer as quickly as possible. As she did, she allowed a sweet smell to escape from her bright pink feathers that would hopefully have a calming effect and encourage the ducklett not to try to turn this into a fight.
Meanwhile, with Bianca...
There. One foot of this thing together. Now I just have to do another two hundred and ninety-nine, and then-- The quacking of an angry ducklett caught her attention, and Bela's ear gave a small twitch as she blinked and they both looked over to see Rosa fleeing an upset duck pokemon. Then Bianca glanced down and noticed what else was here.
KITTY!
A mutant kitty, at that, she noticed as the glameow crouched down and started to sway its odd-looking tail. Oh wow, that was so pretty. "Bela," she said, tearing her sneasel's attention away from the birds. "Mofa on that glameow, please." At the confused look she received, she translated, "Mofa means Taunt, mi gatita."
Bela's face absolutely lit up with a fang-filled grin.
The sneasel leaped down from her trainer's lap, landed in a crouch, and scampered a short distance toward the cat. Then she stopped, stood up, retracted her claws, and reached up to pull down the bottom lid of her eye whilst sticking out her short tongue. She blew a loud raspberry, then turned around to look over her shoulder at the glameow and pat her own rear end. She didn't know if her insults would be understandable to the feral cat, since she was talking domestic-talk, but she hollered them all the same, ranging from topics of poor personal hygiene to questionable parentage--She found 'did your mother screw an ekans?' to be a particularly clever one--whilst shaking her bright pink tail feathers at the 'apex predator' before her.
Bianca, meanwhile, was watching the birds, and she'd snatched up her fishing pole. After all, it was her who Rosa was flying back toward, and if the ducklett was foolish enough to pursue, Bianca certainly wasn't above making the object into a improvised club to help protect her sweet little bird.
Rosa is fleeing the Ducklett, using Sweet Scent to try to pacify it. Bela is using Taunt on the Glameow
...And, yes, Bianca really does intend to whack the Ducklett with her fishing pole if it gets in range of her.

Glameow's smirk slowly slid into a frown as Bela began throwing her taunts out. Unfortunately for the catty Pokemon, it understood Sneasel very well - darn that Field group language. When the comment about the Ekans came up, the cat's tail shot straight up, and just as the Sneasel thought it had the Pokemon ready to pounce, it went the opposite direction. Glameow smirked again, this time closing its eyes and turning its head away. The Pokemon then began to purr and resume pawing at the Shellder.
Above the action, Spritzee was fluttering its way bay to Bianca. The sweet scent it let out unfortunately, was not pacifying to the duck who only sneezed and flew faster towards the pink Pokemon. With another bombastic quack the Ducklett snapped at the perfume Pokemon's tail feathers. Glameow blinked and mischievously flicked its gaze to the bird Pokemon. A tiny meow and the Pokemon licked its lips. Then, with no warning, it pounced at Sneasel with its paws and open.

Bela watched her opponent carefully as the feline turned away from her, and she herself eventually turned to face forward again, though she still had a few taunts that she spat out as she was ignored. Unfortunately for the glameow, Bela didn't flinch in the slightest at the sudden lunge. In fact, she jerked forward, instinctively locking eyes with the other pokemon and baring all her teeth as her irises took on a bright red glow.
Rosa, meanwhile, let out a loud tweet of distress at the chomp on her tailfeathers. However, a moment later, her eyes narrowed. The ducklett really wanted to play it that way? Fine then. Rosa suddenly whirled around and furiously flapped her wings, stirring up a gust of wind and throwing it right in the other bird's face. She then swooped down to fly even lower and took off toward her trainer again.
Her trainer, who was now running right for them, fishing pole held in both hands like it was a deadly weapon. "Fuera! Fuera! Aléjate de mi amiga!" Bianca hollered at the ducklett as she ran, giving a few swings and thrusts of the pole in what she hoped was a sufficiently intimidating manner, looking to her mother's skill for chasing away things with a broom for inspiration.

The Ducklett released a distressed cry with the Fairy Wind, and flapped itself out of the scene as soon as Bianca approached with the pole. Well, that's one out of three dealt with. In the back, the Shellder was slowly inching itself back to the shore. Unfortunately for the poor thing, it would almost an entire day if it moved like that.
Back to the battle. Glameow narrowed its eyes and fiercely hissed at Bela. Are you taking notes? The Pokemon obviously didn't plan much more than its own personal taunts before jumping in the fray. It crouched back to its pouncing position, tail raised high, almost like it had a mind of its own. This time its claw were quite visible. The cat raised an eyebrow and its ear twitched. Then, the Glameow released a shrill "MEOW!" as it pounced at Bela again. This time, it aimed lower and its claws were released and ready to shred some skin.

As the ducklett fled, Bianca's furious demeanor switched to a somewhat amused one; she couldn't help but laugh and call after it, "Yeah, you better fly away, before I whack your bill off!" She gave a shake of the pole for emphasis, despite the waterfowl already rapidly vanishing from her sight, and then lowered it as Rosa fluttered over to tweet at her. "Are you alright, mi amiga?" Rosa nodded with a twitter, and Bianca grinned. "Good. I think Bela would appreciate some backup."
Rosa nodded again and swooped toward the pair of clawed pokemon, leaving Bianca standing there with her fishing pole. She could go back to what she'd doing before--that twine wasn't going to make itself, after all, much as she wished it would--but that was when she noticed the shellder desperately inching its way toward the shore.
Now, Bianca was from a fishing family, and so feeling sympathy for seafood was not something that was generally encouraged. It was counter-productive at best, and would drive you mad if you chose to dwell on it. However, right now, she really, despite herself, felt sorry for the nearly-immobile little shellfish. After all, her pokemon had just saved it from being another pokemon's prey--little did she know, twice over--and so she sort of felt responsible for it. She had no interest in it for herself, preferring her water types to not resemble dinner so strongly, but there was probably someone who would pay money for a tamed feral shellder, right?
Decision made, Bianca walked back over to her bag, rifled through it until she found an empty pokeball, took careful aim at the shellder, and hurled the capsule. It was worth a try, at any rate.
Over in the battle, Bela tried not to wince too visibly as the glameow's claws cut into her. She'd admit that that hurt to herself, but she sure wouldn't to her opponent. In fact, she laughed. "<You call those claws, snake-butt?>" she drawled mockingly, as she let out her own long, hooked set of blades. "<These are claws!>" she hissed as she lunged, eager to tear into her opponent.
That was around the moment Rosa swooped down, whipping up the biggest gust of wind she could to throw at the glameow with twittering battle cry.

The shellfish made a surprised sound that resembled a "boing" when it was hit by the pokeball. The capsule released a red light that surrounded the Pokemon and sucked it inside. The ball hit the ground, wiggled once, twice, last time -- and ding. Shellder was caught. Lucky for Bianca the Pokemon was too weak and frightened to fight back.
Glameow smirked as the Sneasel jumped at it. As a Domestic Pokemon, the weasel and cat would have been evenly matched in agility and strength, but growing up in the untamed wilderness of Mi-aro did have its perks. The purple cat slid right under the Sneasel and tore at here back. It felt quite proud of itself, of course, it didn't notice the Spritzee above it. Rosa's Fairy Wind buffeted the Glameow, causing it to fall into, and roll over Bela. This was unfortunate for the cat because it just happened to snag one of the Sneasel's claws in the roll. Glameow now lay on its side in front of Bela, now growling and baring its teeth.
The Pokemon spat at the team and swiped its paw. The Feral Pokemon would not stop until it was defeated, even though it knew it stood no chance against the partnered Pokemon.

Ding! Despite her having thrown the ball out of pity, Bianca felt a giddy rush at the sound of it forming the connection and locking. Her first capture! This was awesome! Even if it was seafood, she'd still try hard to take care of the little fella.
Now she just needed to retrieve the ball, and she could get back to her task of making twine. But, since making twine was the opposite of fun, and the ball was a little close to the on-going conflict between her pokemon and the feral glameow, Bianca decided to do one slightly-silly thing, first. She picked up her fishing pole again, casually attached the hook it came with, took aim, and made a cast. The hook caught the ridge that covered the place where the two halves connected on the ball, and a swift jerk backward managed to get it airborne and flying in her general direction.
Unfortunately, it landed a couple of feet in front her, and the impact made it split open. As the red light burst from the capsule, Bianca had only one thought: Get rid the pole before it sees it and panics! She rapidly hid the fishing pole behind her shoulder bag as best she could and hurried to catch the pokeball as it sprang up in the air during the release.
Turned out it didn't matter, since the shellder panicked anyway. At least, that's what she assumed was the case when the water pokemon sat there, its already-large eyes widening to sizes that were likely not physically possible. Not its shell, nor its eyes, nor its tongue gave so much a twitch as Bianca found herself staring back, holding the pokeball. "Uh..."
Great. How do you say, 'I'm not going to eat you' in feral shellder? Even if her pokemon hadn't been in a battle right now, she doubted either of could speak seafood. That was the trouble with ferals, that finicky language barrier.
Bianca, to none of her surprise, blinked first, and she considered just recalling the shellder again, but she doubted it was going to run, and if it tried she could pretty easily walk over and pick it up, even without the pokeball. So...well, maybe it'd get over its paralyzing terror if she left it alone a little? That seemed as good a plan as any.
So, glancing once at the shellder just to be absolutely sure it wasn't going to suddenly summon the speed of a ninjask out of nowhere, she gingerly sat down, picked up her string again, and started to work on her twine, focusing her eyes on the battle as she hoped her fingers knew the task well enough after the first foot to do it without her mind's input.
Bela couldn't help the hiss of anger and pain as the glameow out-maneuvered her and slashed her back, but her face lit up at the wind knocked the offending feral onto, then off her and onto the ground in front of her. A downright maniac grin crossed her features as she looked up at the fluttering bird above her. "<What took you so long, feathers?>" she chattered
Rosa huffed a little initially, but let the tease go and and twittered back, "<Well, I didn't want to ruin your fun.>"
Bela laughed. "<You kidding?>" She raised her bared claws, looking at the spitting glameow with glee despite her painful scratches. "<The more the merrier!>" She charged toward their opponent, but this time, rather than lunging straight ahead and giving the opportunity to slide like before, she darted to one side to circle around the glameow, taking a swipe with a single paw wherever she could reach. Much as Bela want to give this smug cat a face-clawing, she'd take harder to dodge over more potential damage now that she knew she had a disadvantage in agility.
Rosa, of course, had the advantage of altitude, and she fluttered around above the glameow, stirring up another gust of wind.
Bianca is going back to twining that string for now. +1 TP for Shellder

A cry of pain rang out from the Glameow as it was cut by the Sneasel. Ouch. Those really were claws. The Pokemon wasn't too pleased with the weasel's chatter either. The more she talked the more Glameow just wanted just throw its face in the ground. Its tail snapped as that last thought trailed into its mind. Before it could execute its plan, Rosa's Fairy Wind pushed it back even further. This time however, Glameow used the move against little Spritzee's intentions. The long, snake-like tail wrapped twice around Bela's neck as the gust threw her back. This move pulled the Sneasel into the ground face first after Glameow.
Once again the Pokemon began to purr. With a struggle it stood itself up, legs wavering, and smirked at the Sneasel held captive by its gorgeous tail.
<"Aww.. What's wrong little sneasel? Cat got your tongue?">
Glameow licked its teeth and pounced on top of Bela. An investigative yawn left its mouth as it kneeded the weasel's back and laid down. Proudly it turned its head to the Spritzee with a look that said 'now what?' and began to purr loudly. Unfortunately, for poor Bela, the cat was much heavier than it appeared, and if Rosa were to send in another Fairy Wind, it would harm her partner as well.
