| Once the sun broke over the horizon, and spilled through the open window, Gwen only took the time necessary to meditate, feed her pokemon and herself, and gather up her things. Once that was taken care of, she was immediately off to leave town for the first time as a trainer, on an important mission to help expand the colony.
Now she arrived on the first route, what lay ahead of her was a fairly long walk up the hill toward New Pallet. She'd have to reach the town first before she could set foot in the uncharted lands beyond. Gwen was more than well prepared though, and she had a full team of pokemon whom she was confident would be able to help her reach her destination intact.
Not wasting any time drinking in the scenery, Gwen made her way up the hill at a steady pace, choosing to stick to the beaten path. Maybe another time she would explore the route more thoroughly, but she had places to be, and she only kept her pace steady enough to keep track of her surroundings in case any ferals happened to be lurking about.

Keeping to the road was probably a good idea, it would be the fastest and most straightforward way there. However, that's not to say that it was any less dangerous than the rest of the route. Pokemon often attacked people traveling between the two towns, and today would be no exception. Gwen was about half-way up the path when a rather eerie "Skikakee!" sounded from a 2 o'clock position. A flash of purple and cream appeared. Its beady eyes glared at the mercenary who was to close to the skunk's den for comfort. Not giving her much time to react, the Stunky raced at her with jaws open, ready to snap.
If that wasn't bad enough, further up the road a small, red creature seemed to be strolling toward her, albeit at a slow pace. It seemed to be searching for food, but didn't look quite as hostile as the currently attacking Pokemon. That could be due to it not yet seeing her, but she would find out soon enough. Finally, on the opposite side of Stunky's original resting place, a Diglett popped up to watch the show. It didn't seem to want to join the action just yet, but spectating would be fun, no?
A Feral Stunky appeared! Lv. 4 A (young) Feral Heatmor appeared! Lv. 3! A Feral Diglett appeared! Lv. 3! No visible mutations observed.

| For the most part, the walk was quiet, but Gwen didn't let that lull her into a false sense of security. Feral pokemon were always around in the more wild regions of Mi-aro, and Gwen was never the type to expect any amount of luck that would be required to cross this route without any amount of resistance.
Of course, she was right and she soon found herself under attack by a stunky. She quickly raised her shield, bunting the skunk pokemon away as it lunged at her, then she snatched two poke balls off her bag, and released the two pokemon infront of the target. "Sakura, Espurr, battle ready." She said.
Sakura of course, was more than prepared to fight, but the Espurr was much more confused about what was going on. <We're battling this... ugly looking thing.> Sakura whispered urgently to the Espurr. <Relax, you've done really good putting up a fight, and this time I'm helping you. I'll translate commands and if in doubt, scratch it.> Sakura quickly assured her.
Espurr wasn't really sure about battling, but then she remembered, the human had her egg too. Well, she stood up to that big scary charmander right? Espurr nodded, gathering up what courage she could. She just needed an order right? That was how this worked?
"Sakura, use taunt." Gwen ordered, hoping the stunky would be provoked into using only offensive for a few straight turns to keep the battle simple. "Espurr, scratch stunky." She then added, speaking very deliberately to the feral Espurr.
Sakura jumped forward at the stunky, waving her arms and sticking out her tongue at it. <Nah, nah nah-nah nahhhh!!" She teased. Once she was done, she glanced back at Espurr who was still looking confused and uncertain. <Use scratch on stunky!> Sakura said, though the distraction was probably going to cost her.
Gwen meanwhile quickly pulled out her X-Gear, and it immediately scanned the stunky and brought up it's information on her screen, before it scrolled through two more targets, a Diglett and a Heatmor. Looking up, she spotted the two, though the heatmor didn't seem to be paying attention and the Diglett was only watching. Unfortunately both of those two pokemon would probably become a fair problem, particularly for Sakura if they joined in.

Stunky bounced off the shield and hissed at the human. Who did she think she was?? Then she summoned her two Pokemon, both of which the creature could understand. The taunting really seemed to be an effective strategy on the creature, considering most of its attacks were status moves. With another hiss, it took the small window of opportunity to throw a multitude of rather sharp swipes at the Steel Pokemon. Espurr, now understanding the situation padded over to defend its new comrade, but the Stunky was incredibly quick... abnormally quick. It managed to slide behind the small mammal and headbutt it into the Fairy. It then hopped back from the team and allowed them to make the next move. This certainly was a tactical little Feral.
On the side the Diglett was doing its on little thing, rooting for.. well no one could really tell, but that was irrelevant. Either way it still didn't look as if it would be be joining the party anytime soon. Heatmor was getting closer, but had yet to notice Gwen.Above the battlefield, dark clouds began to billow in, ready to add to the excitement.
Stunky used Fury Swipes x4 on Sakura! Not very effective. Stunky dodged Espurr's Scratch! Espurr was pushed into Sakura!

| Though Espurr had indeed tried to scratch, the Stunky appeared to be quite quick on it's feet and avoided the attack, and furthermore did succeed in attacking Sakura with an ineffective fury swipes attack. As the Stunky managed to headbutt Espurr, Sakura dug her iron jaw into the ground and threw up her arms to catch Espurr, and thanks to the leverage, only really suffered the indignity of falling on her butt. <Heh, I have your back, don't worry.> She told the Espurr, who gave a little smile.
Still though, it was a rough start to the battle to have their first attack avoided like that. Gwen considered Sakura's sweet scent, but she had a very distinct feeling that it would most definitely bring the other two lingering pokemon into the battle, and that would only make things worse for them. Her only hope so far was to deal with this stunky before the others caught on. "Sakura, use play rough and send it in Espurr's direction. Espurr, scratch." Gwen instructed.
<I'm gonna go get that Stunky and send him straight at you. You give him a good scratch, okay?> Sakura told Espurr as they both got up. Espurr nodded and quietly held her ground as Sakura ran at the stunky and tried to bowl it over into a rough wrestling match that had the potential to lower the stunky's attack power, while simultaneously trying to push it towards Espurr so the kitten could get an attack in.

"Awerarrr!" the skunk screeched. Mawile's Play Rough hit hard thanks to the type advantage. Unfortunately for the team, Sakura threw the Feral over with too much force, this caused it to not only ram through Espurr, but also fall into the spectating Diglett. The Feral mole was quite obviously displeased. With a narrowed expression it withdrew into the ground and reappeared in the middle of the three Pokemon and sent mud flying in every which direction. The mud flew right into both Sakura and Stunky's eyes, effectively lowering their accuracy.
Stunky pushed itself off the kitten and ran back towards the Mawile with its claws unsheathed.
Stunky was hit by Play Rough. Super effective! Stunky is bowled into both Espurr & Diglett. Diglett uses Mud-Slap on Sakura & Stunky! Super effective! Accuracy lowered. Stunky rushes at Sakura with another Fury Swipes!

| Both Gwen and Sakura cringed when the thrown Stunky went a little too far and ended up bowling over the little Espurr. <Ack, I'm sorry, I'm sorry!> The mawile repeated. Damn, she was saying that a lot lately. What was up with that? Sakura stumbled to the side, avoiding the Stunky's scratch by an inch. Well, at least she wasn't the only one with obstructed vision. Catching the diglett's eye, she decided to go for some revengem and she swung her iron maw over her head and tried to bop the mole pokemon with an iron head attack.
Gwen shook her head in exasperation. "You... Really need to control your strength Sakura." She said. As the battle continued, this time with the Diglett finally joining in, nailing both Sakura and the Stunky with a mud slap. Sakura cringed under the super effective ground type move, and Gwen knew that probably hurt a fair bit. The only positive Gwen guessed, was that it had also hit the Stunky which was also weak against ground type moves. With another opponent on the field though, Gwen needed to make things work a little better for her, so reaching for her bag, she pulled another poke ball. "Lunatone, go." She said, as she released the uncharacteristically small Lunatone into the fray.
"Hypnosis." Gwen told the Lunatone as she pointed at the Diglett. She didn't really expect the moon shaped pokemon to understand, but she did hope it would at least do something, even if it ended up just being an extra target for their opponents to deal with.
In the meantime, Espurr sat for a moment in a bit of a daze. She hadn't expected Sakura to send it at her THAT hard. Oww... When she blinked her eyes open, she could see Sakura being surrounded. She wasn't really sure what she could do, but it didn't look like that Stunky enjoyed that mud. When in doubt, scratch? She thought of Sakura's advice before running at the Stunky with claws ready to scratch at it.

Sakura's horn was incredibly close to hitting the Diglett, but the tiny mole creature pulled one last stunt before being smacked by the super effective move. "Igwi igwi!"it cried as its body was enveloped in a brown aura. Its little head whipped back and a ferocious Magnitude 8 was unleashed! Sakura's maw then smacked Diglett, quickly knocking the imp out. Unfortunately for the Steel Pokemon, it was an equal trade. She fell to the ground and was out for the count. Luckily, Espurr had clung onto the Stunky right before and didn't take nearly the hit that it did. The skunk cried as the attack caused it to cling to its last bit of health. The kitten then stood atop the now injured purple opponent with its usual creepy stance and stare.
Lunatone, completely ignoring its new tamer only looked off in the distance, just past Espurr, where another opponent was about to join the fray. The Magnitude had caught its attention and it was rushing its way towards the party. Kittens weren't its normal diet, but the anteater was so hungry that it could eat anything at this point.
<What's happening?> The kitten questioned the unfamiliar psychic. The Lunatone made no effort to turn away from its current position, but with an eerie spacey sound it replied,
<You're about to get eaten.>
Espurr's fur stood on end as it turned to find the new entry. It leaped from the skunk onto the inside of the Lunatone's crescent and waited for something to happen.
Diglett fainted! Sakura gains 6.1 EXP! Espurr gains 6 EXP! Sakura fainted... Gains 3 EXP! Stunky is in red health zone. Heatmor has almost entered the battle zone. Espurr gains +4TP for training and translations.

| Things went from bad to worse as the diglett managed to get a magnitude attack in just as Sakura landed her iron head attack. Once the dust settled, it had revealed a double knock out of both Sakura and Diglett, followed by a couple beeps of her X-gear as it detected an increase to the power levels of both Sakura and Espurr, and their learning of Feint Attack and Confusion respectively. Well there were up and downsides to everything, but the downside of Sakura flat out fainting was very steep.
Returning Sakura to her poke ball, Gwen reached for her next one. Another upside here, was that with the diglett fainted, it meant this battle wouldn't be quite as troublesome for her next strongest pokemon. "Ignis go. Use dragon rage on Heatmor." She ordered as she threw Ignis' ball over Lunatone and Espurr's heads.
The ball ejected the charmeleon onto the field standing between the Heatmor and it's fluffy prey. The lizard then gaped open it's jaw revealing a forming sphere of blue draconic rage, that he then sent flying at the incoming heatmor.
Gwen shifted her attention to the weakened Stunky. One more hit should do it in. Espurr was fairly beaten up herself, but if she could get it to scratch the skunk just one more time, then the only thing they'd have to worry about was that Heatmor. "Espurr, use scratch." Gwen said as she pointed at the Stunky.
Unfortunately, the arrival of Ignis on the field wasn't really that comforting to the Espurr, and whether the charmeleon being there to save her from being eaten by the heatmor would improve her outlook on the fire lizard that had fought her, was anyone's guess. With Sakura no longer around to provide translation, Gwen could only hope the kitten had connected scratch with the attack she was calling, and hope the kitten wasn't too frightened to continue.
Or Lunatone could do something. Like throwing a rock?

Heatmor was picking up more momentum, not much considering its low speed, but it was coming. Charmeleon's lethal attack flew toward the fiery anteater, but once again, the Feral Pokemon showed Gwen how strong and intelligent they really were. The Pokemon used its momentum to actually jump toward the draconic move, the team watched as the ball burst into flames with the Heatmor zipping right through it. "He-tor!" it shouted with its grandiose entrance. It certainly was a beautiful one at that. The fire Pokemon stayed airborne for a surprisingly long time, just enough to ram into Charmeleon and knock it down. A sort of roar came from the creature as it sent out a tongue of fire toward Ignis, the tongue was quite long, and actually able to wrap around the lizard a few times. Which is kind of nasty. But hey, to each his own.
Espurr actually noticed the trainer's call this time, and to Gwen favor finally connected the words together. It responded with a nervous nod. The kitten readied itself, then pounced on the Stunky delivering the final blow. Lunatone made another weird spacey call which seemed to catch the purple Pokemon's attention. It stared at the fallen Stunky for a moment and jumped back into the Rock Pokemon's crescent. Hm. Interesting.
Stunky fainted! Espurr gains 12.1 EXP! Heatmor Incinerated Ignis's Dragon Rage! Heatmor Tackles Ignis! Heatmor uses Bind on Ignis!
