Chief 'Purkle' Purdock
Age: ~15-17
Gender: Enby
Orientation: Pan
Profession: Lost Kid Co-Chieftain
Occupation: Civilian Concerns
Appearance:
This purple-haired feral teen is one of the tallest, lankiest inhabitants of the Lost Kid warren, and also one of the most fastidiously clean – not that that's saying much, in context. In fact, this Lost Kid's height is only matched by the other Chieftain, Rusty – Purkle's sibling. Wearing only the best and most recently stolen of the clothes taken from the city-dwellers, or the finest feral-made garments, Purkle cuts a distinctive figure – even without the... other accoutrements. In addition to the more conventional attire, this tribal Chieftain is adorned with a very fluffy striped purple boa made of an entire stuffed Shiny Furret pelt – decorated with pilfered shinies – a belt-attached two-shaded purple tail, and a pair of matching felinoid ears that have been attached somehow. The formerly-living appendages are further decorated with piercings consisting of stolen jewellery. It is unclear what died to make this outfit possible, but it is definitely eye-catching. Beneath each eye – which match the hair – there is a small black triangle pointing downwards. These are not tattoos, but body paint of some kind. Purkle is not usually seen without some kind of smile – usually of the cheeky, mischievous and/or flirtatious variety. Since its acquisition around the time puberty began to hit, the very fluffy boa has helped to obscure Purkle's precise path through physical maturation, and it appears that the possibly-genderfluid, possibly-androgyne Chieftain prefers it that way.
[Face Claim: Boris Airay – Alice in the Country of Hearts]
Everyday Clothes:
A mixture of the best and newest stolen clothing and the highest quality feral-made clothing – always with the ears and tail. In summer, the boa might be left off, but only if this is unavoidable.
Pack: Purkle does not tend to require a pack, and stores most belongings in a hole in the ground, or a hollow tree – whatever strikes the fancy. If a pack was required, a stolen one would be used, for quality. Aesthetics, well, probably purple or black.
Personality:
Of the two current feral Chieftains, Purkle is the one with the greater sense of humour and spontaneity, and delights in pointing out the funny side of life. Laughter is a frequent part of this individual's demeanour, which can seem fairly light-hearted when times are good. When things are more hectic, Purkle is likely to try to cling to at least a few jokes and smiles, and keep up a bit of banter with Rusty until things are clearly 'very not good'. At this point, most pettiness and silliness is discarded in favour of finding a solution. While Purkle is more prone to panic than Rusty, being a little more highly-strung when things are going wrong, the years spent in the wild have taught the boa-adorned Lost Kid to suck it up and see things through – and vent the panic later. As to the pettiness, most of this is banter between Co-Chieftains – there is a lot of minor bickering between Purkle and Rusty from day to day, which both seem to enjoy. Though generally the more tolerant of the two when it comes to the day-to-day civilian concerns and antics of the feral children, Purkle is nonetheless a rather immediacy-oriented person, and is the more impatient of the pair. Purkle is also more prone to open and blunt criticism of disliked things than Rusty, but will forgive most things for snack food.

Backstory:
Purkle doesn't remember much from before Mi-aro, but would acknowledge the possibility that the name 'Purdock', which later mutated to 'Purkle', was once Burdock. This feral teenager made the crossing through the Legend Portal at approximately age four, along with sibling Rusty, probably fleeing from the same sort of cataclysmic event as most of the other Lost Kids. Nobody other than Purkle or Rusty knows for certain how much they recall, as they tend to clam up when asked. To the tykes that they were, Mi-aro was big and scary, and full of bustling adults who didn't know them. At the time, Purkle was quite a crybaby, and clung to Rusty in panic whenever something startling happened, which was often. They'd made it as far as they had by hanging around other travellers and being endearing enough to feed and shelter, but there was nobody who was ready to take them in on a permanent basis. It seemed as though they were nothing more than a burden to those around them, and sensitive little Purkle had been growing more and more ill-at-ease with the situation, and distressed that there was nobody but Rusty who seemed to have time to care for them.
One night, when most folk were sleeping, the siblings decided to take matters into their own hands. They ventured out from the shelter they'd found in search of something to bring back to make the grown-ups pay attention to them and fuss over them like their parents once did. It was easy to be brave at first, before they got too far from Port City, but as they got more and more lost, both of them started to get agitated and fearful. Though they heard many rustlings and cracklings and shiftings of things in the wind, it wasn't until their snifflings turned into the wailing of lost and cold little ones everywhere that they actually came face to face with another living being. Thankfully for them, it was a group of other children, rather than feral Pokemon. These children, clad in raggedy clothes and pelts, gathered them into the middle of the group and brought them at once to the wood of Mirror Lake. There, they were allowed to sleep with other young ones in underground burrows, before being presented to the oldest of the children – the then Council and Chieftain of the Lost Kids – in the morning.
From this point onwards, Purkle and Rusty became gradually acclimatised to the society of feral children they found themselves in, and Purkle slowly began to lose the tendency to panic and cry. The clinginess to Rusty, however, did not diminish as much – anything they did, they did together. Except for one thing... Seeing as Purkle appeared to be highly dependant on Rusty's presence and assistance in these early years, it was decided by some of the older children that the kid needed to learn some responsibility – or at least be given something to do that would distract from the waterworks. Therefore, the wide-eyed Purkle was presented with a Pokemon egg and instructed to care for it and raise it to hatching – without help from Rusty. It seemed like a daunting task, particularly with that last requirement, but surely a baby Pokemon would be worth it. Thankfully for everyone, the new mission seemed to have the desired effect, and in the fullness of time, Purkle was the proud surrogate parent of a little Sewaddle named Gir. Sure, it was a tiny little thing, but Purkle loved the nutty little Bug type, and was less dependant on Rusty now that there was somemon directly depending on the former crybaby for survival.
Eventually, though it would be hard to say how old they were at the time, the siblings presented themselves to the Chieftain and Council again. This time, they sought to become Questants, and prove their worth to the community – Rusty as a Micro-Mercenary, and Purkle as a Mini-Merchant. By this time, Rusty had located a feral Weedle and somehow managed to wrestle it into submission, meaning that both children had a Pokemon partner to take with them. Therefore, their request was approved. The events of Rusty and Purkle's Quest seem to change with every telling, particularly if Purkle is involved in storytime, but the most consistent parts of the tale are that each of their first partners evolved once during their long journey, that it took them more than two seasons to return to the warren, that there were several confrontations with wild Pokemon that nearly saw them eaten, that both of their partners evolved during the long voyage, and that they returned triumphantly with a payload of assorted information, materials, stolen items and Pokemon not native to their home. Nobody agrees on the precise details, particularly as concerns the number and identity of the Pokemon, but it is clear that the twosome managed to earn the respect of the other feral children.
As the years passed, both siblings continued to gain prowess in their chosen fields, and were involved in many scuffles with wild Pokemon. Not all of these involved attempted capture or dominance struggles, however – many of them were incursions by Pokemon intent on consuming some of the Lost Kids. In these cases, Purkle's role would usually involve trying to remove the most vulnerable feral children from the vicinity, before swallowing fear and joining Rusty in the fray. Although Purkle had become capable of fighting without the help of Rusty, both siblings still fought best when teamed together. When they grew old enough to be considered, they were given secret tests known only to the Council and the Chieftain, before being inducted into the Council themselves to represent their professions. It was around this time that Purkle acquired those distinctive ears and tail, though nobody – including Purkle – is quite certain what they belonged to. It was also around this time that Purkle encountered the Shiny Furret that later became his boa - meaning to catch it, but accidentally killing, so it was turned into a boa. Purkle has fussily maintained it ever since.
Though the new responsibility was daunting at first, the siblings grew into their enhanced roles in time, and gained the confidence of the younger Lost Kids. One of the things that always struck Purkle about this was when new recruits were first presented – they almost always looked small and lost, and reminded the now probably-teen of that long-ago time when the roles were reversed. This set a new drive to nurture the littler ones into Purkle's heart, and the gentler sibling strove to become somebody the others could turn to when they needed somebody to look after them. These efforts did not go unheeded – in fact, when the Chieftain of the time decided that she was ready to embark on a journey to see the world, it was Purkle and Rusty who were chosen to replace her. Since then, both have striven to maintain the values and traits they were selected for, and balance them against each other's.
To some, particularly Mini-Merchants and Rinky-dink Researchers, Purkle is a mentor-figure, and tries to be approachable and personable for them when possible. This is mirrored by Rusty, who mostly mentors Micro-Mercenaries and Small Survivors.
