"Ya know, once I get me 'nough money, I'll try n' buy a Rapidash!"
"Rapidash? Squawk!"
"Yeah, you know," Jason shrugged at this, and, much to the bird's disdain, but his arms behind his head as he spoke, "that way I don't have to walk everywhere so much."
Berend chirped and tilted his head to one side; almost as if he were questioning him. Jason's eyes narrowed at the thought.
"I guess you wouldn't know what walking is," said the young man, annoyance laced in his voice, "since you get a free ride anywhere, anyway."
"Free ride! Anywhere!"
Jason rolled his eyes as the bird began tilting his head from side to side, as if playing along to some unheard song. He worried for the bird sometimes, he honestly did. But he was also sure that the Chatot was smarter than he seemed. Maybe he could give him more a vocabulary; at least then he would be useful.
Lost in his thoughts, poor Jason did not see what was about to trouble him until he was right on it - his right foot suddenly catching in a Pokemon-made hole in the Earth, and causing his body to lurch forward. The young man yelped as he hit the ground suddenly, and earning himself a face full of dirt; Berend having squawked and took off when he felt his trainer's body begin to fall.
Jason groaned into the Earth as he lay there for a moment, trying to regain his composure. Finally, after a few long moments, the man finally lifted his head and brushed off his face. With a sigh, his arms came up in front of him, and he began to balance on his elbows - just as Berend landed in a nearby tree and squawked rather loudly at him. Jason could only glare.
"Well you got outta there real quick," he said, grunting as he lifted himself off the ground and back onto his feet. Berend merely huffed and settled onto the tree brance.
After he brushed himself off, Jason couldn't help but wonder how that hole got there. Taking a look around, he quickly noted that there were actually dozens of holes, all in various places both on and off the route. He heard that this place was pretty hard to navigate at times, however he didn't quite expect it to be like this! Jason sighed again, this time in annoyance. Maybe coming this way wasn't the best choice.
