Bianca Moreno
Age: 31
Gender: Female
Orientation: Bisexual
Profession: Mercenary
Occupation: Pokemon Dealer - Bianca catches pokemon, tames them, trains them, and then sells them.
Appearance: Bianca would describe herself as looking both tough and beautiful, if asked. She is an average height of one hundred and sixty-five centimeters (roughly five foot and five inches), but her body structure is both very curvy and not lacking in subtle musculature. Her skin is a deep, rich olive, her hair sleek, straight, and jet black that hangs a little past her shoulders, and eyes a bright, piercing green, making for a striking sight.
Her face is soft and youthful, making her appear closer to earl-to-mid-twenties than her true age, but she does not have large doe-eyes or an overly 'cute' facial structure that would scale her apparent age back even farther; 'eyes like daggers' is a description that has been thrown around in her presence, as a shift in expression can make her look the intense, seductive cat or the vicious hawk. She has a prominent, but not disproportionate, nose and full lips, with a dash of dark freckles across her face and shoulders that are difficult to pick out against her skin tone.
Said shoulders are a bit broad, but match her busty chest and strong arms, which have prominent muscle along her bicep and less prominent, but definitely present, muscle in her forearms. Her hands are slender and feminine, with slightly-long nails more often than not, but her grip is like a vice and she is very dexterous. Her waist is slender, smoothly transitioning to curvacious hips that give her an hourglass figure, and her long legs have built up muscle of their own from running, jumping, climbing, and swimming.
Everyday Clothes: If you'd think being the oldest sibling in her family would save her from hand-me-downs, you'd be wrong. A lot of what Bianca owns used to belong to her mother, and has been repaired over and over throughout the years. Her favourite black jeans, which hug her hips and show off her curves and the shape of her long legs, are ratted around the bottoms of the pant legs, have had holes in the pockets fixed many times, and have outright patches on the knees, though the fact that the patches are black, if not denim, means that they don't stand out too much at a glance. All of her shirts have no sleeves, to show off the muscles in her arms, with frequent plunging necklines to show off other things as well, and the fabric is usually either black, blue, or, her favourite, purple.
Bianca absolutely adores the colour purple, every shade of it. While lacking the kind of excessive jewelery she would love to own, she does have a silver chain she always wears around her neck with a silver pendant in the shape of a heart that has a piece of amethyst embedded in it. It also belonged to her mother before being given to her, and is one of her two greatest treasures. To be allowed to touch, let alone wear, it by Bianca is a great compliment.
Her other greatest treasure is a simple, silk bandanna, that she nearly always wears on her head to keep her long hair out of her eyes. The fabric is a rich amethyst colour, with the image of a white skull and crossbones on the font. She jokingly calls it her 'pirate bandanna.' It is something she had even as a child, before the portal appeared, and she's long forgotten where she got it from. It's just simply hers, and she feels strange not wearing it.
Formal Garbs: None. Never had a need for that kind of stuff. Not that she wouldn't like to own a nice dress someday...
Pack: Bianca carries around two bags, depending on what she's doing of where she's going. Hanging around town? A simple, black shoulder bag suits her just fine. It has a couple of external pockets, and one internal pocket, but she mostly just shoves everything into the main bag part and leaves it a disorganized, jumbled mess to go through 'later.' Going out into the wilderness? A old, beaten-up backpack of a dull, lifeless grey is the one for the job, with various external and internal pockets to be filled to the brim with supplies organized by type and how likely she is use them frequently.
Personality: When it comes to personality, Bianca has a lot of it. She's friendly, often cheerful, willing to laugh, and tries to walk a line between being charming and flirtatious and being kind of a dork, which sometimes works for her and sometimes doesn't. In fact, her personality seems to be one bundle of contradictions at times, causing her to swing back and forth to different extremes.
When Bianca walks into a room, she doesn't just walk, but struts. Her hips sway gracefully practically of their own accord, as if she doesn't have an 'off' switch for her sensuality. Her every move is smooth while still looking casual, from running a hand through her hair, to sitting down, to standing up again, to snatching up an object from a table or the ground. A confident smirk is rarely far from her lips, nor a mischievous glitter from her eye. Nearly everything that goes on around her will earn a small chuckle and possibly a quip.
And yet, pushing the right buttons can cause her to hop straight into a sudden, even violent reaction. The right word or action can cause her to crack up into hysterical laughter, break down into bitter tears, bolt away in wide-eyed terror, or fly into a shrieking fury. The suddenness of these reactions partially stems from the fact that Bianca bottles up and hides her emotions behind her confident demeanor more often than not, and so these reactions tend to either be due to her being too surprised by the stimulus to cover up her emotions properly, or because she's just encountered the straw that broke the camel's back.
The happier emotions get less bottling up, so she can start to giggle or become increasingly animated in a somewhat childish manner the more excited she gets. She's a fan of wit and wordplay, though that can extend to innuendo and really corny jokes, especially puns. With the latter, it is a good sign of how comfortable she is if she shares said jokes rather than simply snickering when she thinks of them.
In fact, Bianca is rarely perfectly comfortable with much of anyone, at least anyone human, outside of her family. Here is her biggest contradiction, as she both craves human company and fears it. A very tactile, and often sensual, person, she's not shy about physical contact, and loves to talk to people about themselves, but the moment things get focused on her or become too emotional, she's likely to try to bolt from the situation if she can't get it back on the tracks she prefers it.
She likes being social, but fears forming bonds. She seeks out physical intimacy, but fears emotional closeness. Bianca doesn't want to get close, because once someone's important, once you rely on them, it hurts to lose them. And once you're important, once someone relies on you, you can end up letting them down. That's the part that scares her the most, unintentionally hurting someone else. Yet, she just can't bare to be alone for long.
But, still, she's human, and can't help but love some people. If someone manages to find their way into her heart, they will find that Bianca's fear rapidly switches gears from a fear of closeness to a fear of distance, and she can be incredibly clingy and protective. Most people, however, are oblivious that this part of her exists at all.
Likes: Flirting, music, fanciful stories, the ocean, climbing to high places, bird pokemon, cat pokemon, dragon pokemon (well, stories about them, at any rate), exercise, fighting (not that she'll admit that last one)
Dislikes: Being judged, being lied to, being told what to do, other people touching her belongings, enclosed spaces
Backstory: Bianca was not one of the young ones who were born in this new world, nor one of the old souls who were adults when it all happened. She was six years old, living in a dying world and unaware of it. Her parents were fairly neglectful. They gave her food, shelter, and clothing, but rarely gave her the time of day. They would frequently leave her alone to occupy herself.
She combated her loneliness by reading, and by befriending the pokemon who lived nearby. She remembers the time when even the 'wild' pokemon were domestic to some degree with fondness, when she'd sing to the birds and they didn't have the heart to let her know that her young, untrained voice wasn't exactly pleasant to ears, instead just singing along.
But it was indeed a dying world. Her parents had left her alone the day that Arceus came, and she, and the pokemon, were drawn to the bright light of the portal. Before she knew it, she was on the other side...
And alone.
Luckily, a young couple who had stepped through the portal as well that day discovered the frightened child and, realizing what had happened, took her in. They took up fishing in what would grow to become Port City, and Bianca grew up on a diet of cokra, seaweed, and various other seafood as she became enraptured with the scent of sea salt on the wind and crash of the waves. Her adoptive mother knew Spanish, and she quickly picked up on the language herself.
Her birth parents never came for her, and Bianca has no idea if they remain on the other side, in the old world still, whether they crossed and never cared to find her, or if something happened to them.
For one year, however, Bianca was a fairly withdrawn, only confiding in three pokemon who had made the transfer with her: a meowth, a skitty, and a murkrow. She never named the three of them, but they stuck to her like glue. However, after that year, her adoptive parents had their first biological child. Katarina Moreno was born, and a seven-year-old Bianca became fascinated with this new sister. She quickly promised herself that she would be the best big sister ever.
From then, she seemed to come out of her shell, but while she made friends, she never made any close ones. She was dedicated to her little sister, trying her best to live up to her promise. Four years after that, her parents gave birth to a young boy, and Bianca found herself with little Jaime to look out for as well.
However, Bianca was growing up, and soon crashed straight into puberty. The girl who had alternated between voraciously reading whatever she could get her hands on, and running along the shore having 'adventures' with her pokemon friends, was now starting to take care of her appearance and bat her pretty eyes at the boys, and, as she discovered more about herself in the years to come, girls as well. Still, despite her enthusiastic flirting, and no shyness regarding physical affection, she would quickly back off and return to her books and pokemon when they tried to make anything serious out of any of it.
The year Bianca turned sixteen was one of changes. The first, her parents had another child, and the young Isabela--or 'Izzy,' as Bianca quickly started calling her--was greeted with enthusiasm of having another sister. The second, however, was one that devastated Bianca. Her meowth friend, who had not been a spring chicken even back when she was a little girl, got very sick. After a few months, he simply lost the will to eat and wasted away.
Bianca was heartbroken, though to outward appearances she seemed fine. She kept up with helping out her parents' fishing, she still joked with her casual friends, and she still flirted with anyone interesting who caught her eye. However, the moment she was alone, she would burst into tears and find it hard to stop.
Not long after her meowth's death, her murkrow was attacked by a feral poochyena looking for a meal. He survived, and Bianca nursed him back to health, but his wing was permanently damaged, leaving him flightless. Despite her parents' reassurances, Bianca felt like she'd failed her friend, as, while he too tried to hide it, she could tell not being able to fly depressed him.
By seventeen, whether it was the depression or simply old age taking its toll on him, her murkrow passed away.
By eighteen, her skitty grew ill and died, much like her meowth, only this time it only took a few weeks before she passed away in her sleep.
Bianca threw herself into her family's work, growing into a woman with admirers and flings, but no true relationships. Whenever someone started to see the sadness behind her smile, she fled them. Only her family got to see this, and even then she tried to hide it from her siblings. She was the oldest. She had to be strong. She had promised she was going to be the best big sister ever, and she intended to keep it. She couldn't let them down. She couldn't.
Years passed, and she healed for the most part, but there seemed to be a empty space without pokemon in her life that she tried her best to ignore. When Bianca was twenty-four, the now-seventeen Katarina fell hard and fast for a boy her age from New Pallet. She was completely smitten, enough to be careless, and soon she found herself pregnant. The soon-to-be-father, terrified, tried to flee his responsibility.
Bianca, furious at his betrayal of her heartbroken little sister, chased him down and beat him viciously, threatening to kill him if he ever dared to touch Katarina or come near their family again.
Nine months later, on Bianca's twenty-fifth birthday, baby Lillian Moreno was born, and Bianca again made a vow, this time to be the best aunt ever. The presence of her little niece encouraged the more childish, exuberant side of her personality, and she gleefully took to looking after and playing with the growing girl.
Life wasn't done throwing curve-balls yet, however. When Bianca was twenty-eight, the now fifteen-year-old Jaime confided in her that he was not a 'he' at all, but a she, feeling like she was born into the wrong body. Bianca, not even thinking for a second to not accept her sibling for who she was, helped her reveal this to the rest of their family, and when others were cruel, as people could be, Bianca reacted with a protective rage that would put a bear to shame.
No one would harm any of her sisters as long as she was here.
More years passed, much less eventful ones, and Bianca kept working. However, her parents could see what she refused to admit: She wasn't happy. It wasn't hidden sadness this time, however, but frustration and restlessness. Bianca had spent her whole life, save the few before the portal, in this city, and while she loved the ocean, there was a whole world out there that no one had tried to discover.
It was like one of her childhood fantasy stories, only there were no brave adventurers going out into the unknown. No heroes to have a story told about.
Finally, her parents told her that enough was enough. She was going to leave home, and be happy. Shocked, and more than a little bit afraid, she tried to argue that she was happy, but in the end relented. She did so very much hate to lie, especially to them. She still didn't want to leave, but they pointed out that, between Katarina, Jaime, and even Izzy, who was fifteen by now, they had more than enough to sustain the fishing business. They would be all right, as long as she made sure to come back to visit frequently.
So, Bianca, at thirty one, decided to set out and become a mercenary. Someone needed to go out, catch all those pokemon, tame them, and train them to be strong enough so neither they nor humans had to face the world alone. Might as well be her. Maybe she'd even have a few adventures worth telling.
