FC: Tessa Testarossa from Full Mental Panic!
Angelique Bell Preston
Age: twenty four
Gender: female
Orientation: heterosexual
Profession: researcher
Occupation: pokemon behavior researcher
Mentor: the ambassador
Appearance: Average is the best word to use when describing Angelique. She stands at an average height of five feet, five inches and wears her alabaster hair in an average ponytail. There is nothing special about her grey eyes or her pale skin or her average scrawny build. The girl seems to have almost no muscle mass to speak of and asking her to curl her arm in order to look at her tricep is almost a laughable experience, one that she will do and smile through even though it's embarrassing. She has no tattoos, no brands, no scars, no markings to speak of besides a small mole on the palm of her right hand. Her nails are kept filed down and uncolored, she wears no perfume and dons no makeup.
Everyday Clothes: Though trekking through this unknown world would be better handled in jeans and a shirt that covers her arms, Angie is a connoisseur of dresses. She was put in dresses as a younger child because they were easy to get on and off and she's loved them ever since. Having been born here, she doesn't know about the different fabrics that were prevalent on earth. Leather, suede, crushed velvet; she wouldn't know how to react to the feel of this against her skin.
Her footwear is something simple that stays on her feet. Normally she just slips on what would be considered flip-flops and she's out the door to do whatever she needs to do for the day. If she has more time on her hands or cares a little but more about who would be seeing her during that day, she will dawn sandals instead. These are the kind that can be tied around her ankle. If it were possible to have a single pair of close-toe shoes, she would wear those whenever the rain came or if she knew she was going outside of the boundaries of her settlement.
Whenever it gets too cold for her armless dresses, she had a very simple cloak that she wears that is threadbare. She patches it whenever she can to keep it in working condition, but it's obvious that she should invest in a new one soon. It does little to keep the cold from snaking up her arms and shoulders, though it will keep her dry if she needs to go out in the rain.
Formal Garbs: None
Pack: A very ratty and tattered (though patched!) bookbag. Brown in coloration with the mesh shoulder straps so that her back doesn't sweat overly much. Kinda like this, just in worse condition.
Personality: The assumption is that someone has to be curious about the world around them in order to be a researcher. Angie doesn't believe this as she is more so about helping her fellow human beings than she is curious about the world. She is, for lack of a better explanation, a helper. If she can provide help, even something as small as watching a child for an afternoon, she will do it. While not a logical problem solver, she will be the person to sit there and allow you to bounce ideas off of her if it helps you solve your problem.
Angie is naturally quiet. It isn't that she doesn't have a voice, it's just that she doesn't often feel the need to use it. She finds that people's actions speak much louder than words ever could or would and she lets this reflect in her own interaction with other tribe members as well. She is a do-er first and foremost, though she doesn't let her word fall by the wayside. If she promises something, she will see it through to the best of her ability as she hates for someone to think that she was a liar or an oath breaker.
In this savage world, it's one of the only things you can barter with if you have nothing else.
These personality traits often allow her to be overlooked, bullied, or walked over. Being of a more passive nature, when she comes into conflict with other humans, it's more awkward for her than scary. She usually doesn't know what to say or do to resolve the issue and if the person isn't willing to talk out what has them frazzled, then there's no way Angie can visualize herself helping them.
She does not like being taken advantage of, used for another's gain, or something to that degree, but her logical mind understands that it is survival of the fittest. She is not the type of person to hold long grudges or practice the silent treatment on people who offend her. She finds it easier interacting with any domestic Pokemon that she comes across and finds herself learning more from them than her human companions. She's more likely to apply the information she learns from Pokemon to human interactions and thus it's easy for others to be confused by her reasoning.
Likes: Literature in general. The scent of flowers. Bread with butter. Light thunderstorms. Watching the stars. Nighttime in general. Dirt between her toes.
Dislikes: Fog. The bullhorn that ships have attached to them. Swimming. Being taken advantage of. Wearing her glasses. People who bite their nails.
Backstory: The only home that Angie has ever known has been this one. She has no memories of Earth and though there are many who would tell her stories about that far off planet, they don't stick for her. She was born a day after the portal closed, in the dead of night, and while she wouldn't claim that she was the first of the new generation, she would say that she was part of that lofty claim.
Her childhood was very mild in terms of growing up on a savage planet. She learned with other children her age, explored when she was able and where she was permitted, and helped the tribe as best she could. It was sad for her when her father, an explorer, went out on a mission and never came back. The group who went after him also never returned. Angelique's earliest memories are actually of the candlelit vigil that was held for them, the silent solemn faces, and her mother's tears.
Her want to help others stems directly from her mother whom worked as something of a medic. Having been a nurse on Earth, it only made sense that she transitioned into helping with any medical problems that the people ran into. However, Pokemon and human problems were largely separate and she could treat one and not the other. Angie wants to be able to treat the large (or small!) beasts that her mother never could. She wants to learn as much about them as possible.
She lives apart from her aging mother now, having decided that she needed a place of her own. The two still visit regularly and are very close, but Angie's practices and wants have pulled her in another direction from her medically minded mother.
