I have such mixed feelings about what I just watched. I understand it was an intentional spoof and I normally love shit like that but the degree of it I just... I'm not sure whether it was AMAZING at just how dumb it was or nauseating for just riding on the coattails of a more popular franchise. x'3; Mostly just rambling a synopsis here for anyone else who doesn't normally watch the show/hasn't seen any of these episodes just to get a vague idea of just how heavily loaded it was.
So this Johnny Test episode was apparently the second to include "Tinymon", their spoof on Pokemon, complete with Tinycubes and the TinyDex. That alone would be great. There were plenty of original designs with a general Pokemon-ic (though often more mecha / MegaMan as well) feel. Great. I actually vaguely remember a that might have been before some of your time where Johnny Bravo briefly spoofed Pokemon and it had a lightning-shooting pig coming out of a... walnut, or something? x'3 Yeah this kind of thing has been done before.
But then.
SCREECHEREEN.
LOOK AT THAT BLATANT IF POORLY DRAWN SHADOW LUGIA, LOOK AT IT.
Though there's another that draws a lot from Lugia as well as some from its name inspiration, and possibly the best thing in the episode: BADIAS.
Possibly THE best getting-crap-past-the-radar and shout-out combo of all time. xD I feel like the pronunciation shifted slightly every time someone said it but I swear the first time I just heard it as baddy-ass too so. Yeah.
Back to the awfulness-
I hate to tell you this show writer guys but Crystal was an actual version. x'3;;;
Also the aspiring-master main character is named Blast Ketchup.
A few other designs held some amount of resemblance to Pokemon but yeh.
XD; But somehow the speech patterns and stuff of the in-game characters were.. more like when Dexter's Lab parodied the old Speed Racer? Idgi.
