Exploration
Adventure is the most of exciting of things!
Exploring new territory is one of the crazy fun quirks of PX-RC! The process can be long and arduous, but in the end very rewarding. There are quite a few little oddities about this feature, so they have been formatted in a list for easy reading.
1. Player/Mod/Player
This is a style that calls for the assistance of a Staff member. Everytime you post, a Moderator will act as your surroundings which will interact with you. The Mod has no specified word count, but will always give you plenty to work with, it is asked you do the same. Mods also reward creativity with more creativity. Just remember, quality over quantity.
2. Beginning the Adventure
When you create a new thread, it is asked that you place your current location, which direction you want to go (North, South, etc.), your supply stock (Food, Water, Tools) and what you are looking for (areas, POIs, Possible Settlement Locals, etc.). You might also want to tell us how long you are expecting your journey to last. You are welcome to add more.
3. Preparing for the Journey
Be aware that adventuring in unknown territory can be very dangerous. Make sure your character has sufficient supplies before setting out. Anything not specified to be in your Supply Stock at the creation of the post cannot be used. If all of your Pokemon faint or you run out of food or water, there is a high risk of death.
4. Bring a Data Log
Even if you are not a Researcher, you will want to grab one of these before you leave. When exploring uncharted territory, there is a higher chance of finding new Pokemon, mutations, or other weird things. If you log this behavior, you can sell the information. You might also consider buying a Photo Chip in case you want to keep around hard evidence of your finds.
5. Creating Your Surroundings
Mods will give you some freedom in creating parts of the area. You can push the envelope as far as you want, but if a Mod doesn't like the idea they will send a rebuttal in the next post claiming that "Billy's eyes were playing tricks on him." Try not to overdo this ability. If a Mod decides you are abusing the system, they will very obviously run your character out of the area and destroy all evidence that you were there however they see fit.
6. Mark Your Territory
Your Mod will notify you once you've officially discovered a new area. The Mod will also give you additional information about the area, such as: is it a route or POI, can it be settled, some of the Pokemon that can be found there, Climate, Soil Fertility Level, etc. Once this happens, your are then allowed to name the Territory. It is asked that names are sensible. Use the other areas as examples if you would like. Names can only be confirmed by an Administrator.
7. Descriptions
After an Admin confirms the name of the area you found, you can then choose to write the description for the area's information section (the form of which will be given to you upon approval). Get an Admin to review it, then claim your rewards.
Rewards
Wonderful, Wonderful Benefits!
Ready to see what you get for discovering an area?? Well of course you are!
1. Discovered By:
Your name will appear with the area in it's information section, immortalizing you as an explorer.
2. Money
You will receive a currency reward from the Emissary depending on the quality of your find.
3. Permissions
When you officially discover an area, you also claim the real estate! The property is considered to be owned by you, meaning you can sell, rent, renovate, or do whatever you want with it. If anyone wants to use the land for anything permanent or populated (such as settling the area or using it as a festival ground), they must first pass it through you. Note that Staff will monitor your use and delegation of the land. Abuse with result in confiscation of the land.
4. Special Gifts
The Emissary will award you with "Special Gifts" as a thanks for discovering something in particular. These gifts can be literally anything but are generally very unique, useful, or expensive.
Happy Exploring Folks~
