~ SERAPHINA ~ January 3, Year 1, Afternoon
A slightly muddy Sera trudged back into Port City a whole day and a half after having left. Of course a mass crisis would break out within hours of her leaving. As if that weren't bad enough, she'd dealt with a brat who thought she was the next Anita Nguyen this morning and fell into yet another hole on the way back to town. Not even another Durant colony but just a.. pitfall trap, apparently. If it was food sized that would be one thing, but who would build something like that so big and not put any sort of warning signs for passing humans? And of course Chikorita didn't know Vine Whip, and according to her Dex chip would be difficult to even teach it despite the fact that basically every Chikorita to appear in any picture book she could remember as a kid always seemed to be depicted using it, so it took her quite a while to claw her way back to the surface. Too late did she realize Diglett might have been able to help, but she really didn't want to deal with stubborn ferals on TOP of her situation anyway.
She swore, her luck some days...
Aaaat any rate, she was back in town now. Finding a square with a small fountain, she took an opportunity to clean herself up a bit. Her clothes were a bit roughed up, but she got her face and hair looking nice again, at least. Chikorita and Igglybuff enjoyed a brief drink, and Sera decided to recall them while walking around town until she found where the Anorith were. Along the routes, Feral Pokemon were everywhere and could come out of nowhere. In town, she might see something wild, but it was less likely to be so dangerous, and having them out might hinder more than help her movement until then.
Deciding that Professor Oak might be able to give her more info and recalling she needed to take him her pair of Sprigenta-- look they couldn't all be award-winning names okay?-- she began heading toward the lab. Along the way, she debated whether or not to harass the poor professor too much today or play it more coy. A hot and cold approach might be even more jarring than just seeming plain crazy, but-.. Well, no but. That was a good plan.
As Sera went to turn a corner, she almost collided with a large man.. who wasn't even coming from the direction she was turning. It seemed he just outright wasn't paying attention and almost walked right through her!
"Wa--" she started, but bit her tongue. Fortunately what started as a 'watch it' should just have sounded like a general exclamation to anyone listening.
"Ah, excuse me miss." Around this time, she'd finally looked up-- and up.. and holy cow up. Maybe she was wrong about him not paying attention. Maybe was just so high up in the clouds there that he couldn't see her.
Her momentary gaping was soon replaced by a weak smile, however. "Oh, no you're fine. I just wasn't paying attention," she lied softly. She gave a slight bow for emphasis, and--.... Uhhh wow that dipped rather uncomfortably close to his crotch she was just. Gonna pretend that didn't happen. It didn't keep her cheeks from flushing, though. You know what that was fine. She'd play that off as more of the oh so innocent maiden, yes, that was fine. She had places to be, though, so even if she weren't terribly embarrassed she wouldn't have stayed for long.
"I have to get going, but you have a nice day sir," she cooed. She feigned a sweet little small and offered him a wave before hurrying on her way.
"--You too," she thought she heard him say as she made more distance. If there was anything after that, though, it was lost to her.
What a freak, she shuddered. Dude should really watch where he's going. Or get some caution lights installed or something. People could get hurt. When she thought about it, she was pretty sure she'd seen Mr. Human Construction Equipment before, but never up close like that. It was kind of like a mountain; you realize it's big, but seeing it up close, holy shit it is really fucking big. She'd try to keep that in mind when judging Pokemon that looked 'big' from a distance, though. She'd heard tales of gargantuan dinosaurs and the infamous figure of legend known as Wailord, and more than ever realized that knowing about them and seeing them up close first hand would be two incredibly different experiences.
As she went along through town, though, she cooled down-- On the bright side, that was a really bitchin' cloak. I approve of his sense of fashion.-- and at some point remembered that X-Gears were good for more than taking pictures.
Selecting the Professor's number in her contacts-- well, contact-- she decided to give him a call before she actually reached the lab to see if he was even there or elsewhere about town and to go ahead and see if there was anything more she should know about the-- oh look an Anorith! By the time she could close out of her X-Gear and pull out one of her Pokemon, however, it was gone, and she wasn't at all sure which way it had gone. A quick search revealed nothing either. ..Damn. Looked like the things really were everywhere though, so that was... good? Not good but. Good for her that she didn't miss it, she guessed.
Tucking Chikorita's ball in one pocket and Igglybuff's in the other for quicker access, she went back to her X-Gear and hit the Call button. "Oh professorrr..." she all but hummed.

| "You're both doing very well." Gwen commented on her two pokemon as the three of them walked down the street. Like a a fair number of trainers in Port City, they were out seeking Anorith, which were invading town and causing a general disturbance. There was also that Armaldo, but Gwen wasn't nearly over-confident enough to send her recently obtained starters after the evolved and obviously more powerful pokemon alone.
Ignis, her charmander, snorted contemptuously. They may have been doing 'well', but so far Charmander hadn't really had much of a chance to do anything but play defense. The fire lizard muttered to himself grumpily as he flexed his tiny claws, which were next to useless against the hardened rock bugs. "Char! Charmander Char!" He declared challengingly, glaring around, just daring any of the invading Anorith to pop out.
"Maw! Mawile!" Sakura exclaimed, placing her hands on her hips proudly. The Mawile in this crisis, had been the main offensive member of Gwen's little team, being the one with the type advantage against the swarming prehistoric insects. She had also been taking most of the hits too, but her hard steel body stood up well against the Anorith's scratches. "-ile! Mawile! Ma-mawhile." The mawile said comfortingly when Ignis started grumbling. She did consider him to be quite the grumpy gus so far, but she did feel bad that he couldn't do more against the Anorith.
Gwendolyn looked down at Ignis and frowned. "I know it's not fun playing defense all the time. Just stick this out though, I'm sure we'll find an opponent better suited for you after this is dealt with." She reasoned as her eyes wandered through the alleyways and whatever gaps she could see that might be hiding the troublesome pokemon. One Anorith popped up briefly, and it appeared a nearby trainer had spotted it too. Just as quickly as it came though, it was gone. "Bad luck." She muttered tonelessly.
She glanced over to the other woman who had jumped to engage the Anorith as well, though she now appeared to be preoccupied with a call on her X-Gear. Gwen hadn't actually met any other trainers yet since leaving the professor's lab, but it'd be rude to interrupt the woman's phone call, so she simply kept herself preoccupied by walking further down the road where the Anorith had disappeared to. Maybe she might be able to coax the bug back out into the open?
----------------
Gwen praised her pokemon! Ignis is being a grump! Sakura is being friendly! Gwen has noticed Sera but chose not to interrupt her phone call! Gwen wandered a short ways off to keep looking for Anorith!

~ SERAPHINA ~ Ringringring... Ringringring... Ringringring.....
Dear Arceus it felt like this phone had been ringing for days. Huffing with frustration, she ended the call. Maybe he was handing out another starter, or taking a piss or something. All she knew was that she would forgive the offense this time, but he'd better be available when she arrived at the lab after she came all the way back here.
Great, now which direction.. ooh~! Was that a Charmander? From the look of her there was a fair chance that trainer was around Sera's level, and since she was right there...
"Hi there~!" Sera chimed cheerily as she closed the gap between them, waving. "Sorry to bother you, but your Pokemon are just soooooo cute!" Her hands clasped together as she said this, then went between her knees as she bent down to look at them both. "And I don't think I've ever seen a Mawile in real life before~"
Looking back up at the woman- quite a bit up, wow she was taller than Sera had thought, but she supposed nothing compared to that Kangaskhan in a cape earlier- the pink-haired girl smiled. "I'm Seraphina, by the way."

| Gwendolyn peered down the alleyway where the Anorith had disappeared to, but if it hadn't completely taken off through the other end of it, it was hiding somewhere. She wondered if the Anorith had simply run off scared, or other wise fled to fetch reinforcements. The last encounter she had with them was a trio after all, and perhaps it was unusual for one to be alone?
Sakura peeked curiously down the alleyway as well. She was more than eager to fight off this anorith infestation, and she was equally disappointed as her trainer that this one had run away. Her attention though, shifted back to the other trainer present, and she noticed the girl was off her phone and now approaching Gwen. "Maw!" The Mawile told her trainer as she tugged gently on the leg of her pants.
Gwen had been considering heading down the alleyway, almost forgetting the trainer she had noticed earlier, but Sakura brought her back to attention and she turned her gaze on the pink adorned woman. "Hello, and thank you." She responded politely, offering a small smile. So this was going to be one of those people. Well, if she could survive the professor's overly eccentric ways, one trainer gushing over her pokemon wasn't really anything to be bothered by.
"Char!" Ignis growled indignantly. Though his trainer had chosen to take it as a compliment, the Charmander on the other hand, was not at all pleased to be referred to as 'cute'. His tail lashed a bit as he glared up at the stranger.
Sakura wasn't overly fond of being 'cute' either, but she wasn't nearly as offended by it as Ignis was and instead just smiled politely. She giggled a bit at the Charmander. Mawile, wile!" The Mawile said to Ignis in an attempt to calm him down, though the Charmander just snorted grumpily in response.
"Relax Ignis. I'm sure she didn't mean to offend you." Gwendolyn told her Charmander warningly. She wasn't sure just what the Charmander might do, but so far it seemed to be content to just stand there and glare daggers at the woman. "I just received them recently at the lab. We're still getting to know each other." Gwendolyn explained. "My name is Gwendolyn, though Gwen is fine. This Mawile is Sakura and the Charmander is called Ignis." | Words: 385

~ SERAPHINA ~ Sera raised an eyebrow for a moment, then grinned at the Charmander. "Ah, I see." The words seemed directed more toward him than his trainer. "I do hope you'll forgive me. I didn't mean to say you didn't also look extremely strong. With the vibrant way that tail light's blazing I just thought that much went without saying~"
A little glance went to Sakura then. "And the maw in Mawile would make it a mistake for anyone to underestimate your kind." She smiled sweetly again at them, forcing a small false blush, and kicked the dirt a little with her foot. "You can't blame me for appreciating some nice faces alongside all that power, though, right?"
Deciding some new Pokemon might spice up the little 'party', she feigned a moment of realization. "Oh! Where are my manners?" She found two Pokeballs- but not Chikorita's. She didn't want to let the other trainer know her classic-starter was strong against Sera's. She introduced the two that did come out, though.
"These are, well, Igglybuff and Diglett! I like to wait for them to pick out names for themselves, heh~" Igglybuff looked around at everyone with intrigue before offering a soft smile and a little wave, and Diglett never made it past the looking around with fascination stage. It was the more mild of her two. "Igglybuff came from the lab, too, but Diglett is Feral! Don't worry too much, though. He should behave as long as Igglybuff's here. He's a music-lover after all~"
Igglybuff seemed to beam proudly at that, while Diglett seemed to realize they were talking about him (if there was one sound he knew, after all, it was the one he'd grown up with since birth). He wasn't sure what the conversation was about, but gave a belated little chime of, "Diglett~!"

Interrupting the conversation, Sera's X-gear rang once. But before she had time to answer, the professor's head was already glowing above her watch. That's great. Apparently the man could override the whole answering thing. He did make it of course, but that feature had the possibility of becoming extremely awkward. Might should watch out for that. "Sorry Sera, no time for chit-chat, we've got a sort of cris-" he stopped when he noticed Gwen standing near Sera. "Well hello there Garnet. Say," he pointed behind her, "when did you get that pack? It looks really tou-" once again, he cut himself off. This time, the man seemed to just zone out and walked off screen. The greenish-blue ball of light that held the image hadn't faded, but it was obvious the professor wasn't coming back to the call anytime soon. That really took talent Oak. Really, it did.
That was a really cool new pack that Gwen had though. Although, it did look an awful lot like an Anorith... Oh. Well that was fine, not like they showed up in packs or anything. There were two scuttling up from behind Sera, and another four behind Gwen, but the two trainers should be alright. Yeah. Well, good look with the horde trainers!
7 Anorith appeared!

| Ignis looked up at Sera searchingly, then simply snorted roughly. He wasn't so low as to be won over with compliments and obvious back-pedaling excuses! He was no 'cute' pokemon, and that should have gone without saying. "Char." He huffed, turning his head away from her, in clear rejection.
Sakura on the other hand though, was more than happy to receive such compliments. "Maw!" She said, nodding in full agreement when Sera commented on her jaw. She gave Ignis a little nudge, but the Charmander didn't budge. "Maw, mawile!" Sakura sighed in exasperation. The fire lizard could just be a little party pooper!
"So... stubborn." Gwendolyn muttered. That Charmander definitely would take some effort to train. Turning back to Sera, she observed as the trainer released her as of yet unnamed pokemon. "Ah, well I try to give them name as soon as possible. I think it helps to develop a bond between trainer and pokemon, and I've always thought it was a bit odd calling something by it's species name anyway. Like calling a human 'human'." Gwen offered her point of view.
Before Gwen could continue on the subject though, Sera's X-gear had suddenly gone off on it's own, throwing up a hologram of Professor Oak. She quietly stood there, until the Professor suddenly addressed her, and complimented her new pack before cutting himself off and wandering off screen. "Pardon? I don't have... Oh." Suddenly realizing that none other than an Anorith had managed to crawl onto her back unnoticed. She immediately backed into a nearby light post, sandwiching the feral pokemon against it.
The backpack Anorith unfortunately, was not the only one to appear. "Watch your back." She told Sera, pointing to the two Anorith coming up behind her. Meanwhile, she had four coming to surround her and her pokemon. Well that was hardly fair. "Ignis, growl. Sakura, pick your target and use Iron head." Gwen instructed, as she pulled away from the light post, and the Anorith that had once been on her back, had lost it's grip on her and fell to the ground. She then promptly placed her boot down on it to immobilize it and hopefully keep it off of her pokemon while the rest were dealt with.
Neither Ignis nor Sakura hesitated with their moves. Ignis growled fiercely at the four Anorith surrounding them, a move that was probably fueled even further by his frustration in having to use it. Sakura then followed up by charging at the nearest one, driving her hardened head at it for some super effective damage before jumping back to stand herself between Ignis and the rest of the Anorith. If they wanted to attack her less offensively capable teammate, they'd have to get through her.

~ SERAPHINA ~ Sera formed a slight frown. "Yes, but you wouldn't walk up to a fully grown person and give them a name, would you? If I ever hatch an egg I'll name that same as a human newborn, but until then-"
Oh hi there professor. Man Garnet was butchered so much worse than Serena. Sera felt kind of special now, grinning slightly. "Oh, Professor, I wanted to--" She'd started trying to interrupt him, but he just sort of.. walked off? ...Uh. Had she offended him that badly by interrupting? ..Surely not. What a strange man.
She honestly hadn't noticed the new arrival either until Gwen began reacting to it, but that didn't stop her from briefly mentally judging the other trainer for being unobservant. Obviously, she'd just had legitimately more important things to be paying attention to herself, but she definitely would have noticed if it had been on her. Totally.
Not one to be outdone (even if she was mentally cursing the words 'iron head'), Sera began commanding her Pokemon as well. "Igglybuff, Sing and translate. Diglett, Sand Attack."
Ooh the red lady said Diglett again! What was she.. He got a vague feeling of earth. Of course, being constantly submerged in it, he thought about earth a lot.
Fortunately Igglybuff was there to help.. even if she felt absolutely ridiculous doing so. She gave Sera a 'do I have to..?' look for a moment, but upon receiving a 'yes' leer in return, she sighed and began singing.. a lullaby about flinging sand? It probably wasn't the most calming tune, but.. Well, Sing didn't always work anyway, so she supposed it couldn't be hurting too much..
In the meantime, Sera made sure no Anorith were coming up on her.. then snapped a picture of the horde before it dispersed too much, because memories I mean research.
-----
Diglett TP +1 (2 total)
Igglybuff is Singing at a random Anorith and also trying to help translate commands. Diglett was ordered to use Sand Attack; does it understand? Sera is being Sera.

((My rping will be minimized - like very - because of the size of this horde))
Anorith 1 was successfully trapped under Gwen's foot.
Anorith 2 flew back from Iron Head. It landed in a bush.
Anorith 3, 4, & 5 cringed from growl. Attack lowered. All go after Ignis and attack his lower body.
Jigglypuff's Sing failed - but sort of worked.
Diglett understood her song and used Sand attack on Anorith 6 & 7. Accuracy lowered.
Anorith 6 & 7 attempt to scratch at Jigglypuff.
1... 2... 3... Ding! Picture was caught *shot*

| While Gwen had successfully managed to keep one Anorith out of the fight, and Sakura had managed to send her target flying away into a bush and out of the way, three of the Anorith were still a problem, and they were all surrounding Ignis. "Sakura, use iron head on the Anorith to your left. Ignis, use ember on the one on your left." Gwen ordered, hoping the directions weren't too confusing.
Sakura understood perfectly though, and set her eyes on her target before charging at it, attacking at such an angle as to knock it away from Ignis' position. Knowing what would be coming next though, she made sure to get clear out of the way before Ignis acted on his own orders.
Having learned plenty enough from their previous encounter, Ignis didn't dare launch a fire attack in such close proximity while the Mawile was in the process of attacking a nearby target. He wasn't about to humiliate himself by accidentally hitting his teammate again. Unfortunately though, by the time Sakura had cleared out of the way, the Anorith had reached him and aimed a couple of scratches at him. He backed up slightly, before retaliating with an ember attack on the Anorith to his own left.
Gwen's gaze shifted over to where Sera was battling her opponents. She appeared to only have two targets to deal with, but from what she could recall of her knowledge of Igglybuff, they didn't know much if any offensive moves early on. Her only other pokemon she was aware of was that feral Diglett, which wouldn't be too reliable without being tamed. Unfortunately though, unless Sera had any other pokemon to use, she'd be on her own. As much as she would have liked to help, Sakura and Ignis already had their hands full with the three they had, and the fourth probably would find it's way out of the bush it had been knocked into soon enough.
